Bally Sports' Ryan Bass reports that the Tampa Bay Rays are "pulling back" ace Shane McClanahan (bicep, triceps) for a few days due to a sore bicep, which means he will miss his next minor-league rehab start on Thursday. Manager Kevin Cash said it has nothing to do with the triceps nerve issue that McClanahan dealt with in spring training, and it's just the result of fatigue while building his arm up. "He's frustrated, rightfully so, because he wants to be here," Cash said. "He wants to help us, so he could get a ball right back in his hand in the next two or three days." While it's frustrating for fantasy managers that have been holding the 28-year-old southpaw all year, it's ultimately not terrible news. It's still possible that McClanahan could make his season debut in August, although he'll likely be on a short leash and won't have much time to make a fantasy impact.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Toledo. Carpenter has been sidelined since the beginning of July due to a right hamstring strain. He has been ramping up his activities lately and appears ready to get back into game action. He figures to need a few rehab contests before rejoining the Tigers. Fantasy managers might be able to get Carpenter back in their lineups by this weekend.

Texas Rangers outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) was able to take part in batting practice ahead of Tuesday's game against the Athletics. This is a good sign as Pederson has been out since late May due to a fractured right hand. The organization is hopeful Pederson can take batting practice again on Wednesday. After that, Pederson should be able to go on a minor league rehab assignment. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy didn't mention how long Pederson would stay in the minors. He figures to need a handful of games before being ready to play in Texas again. There's a decent chance that he's ready to play again by early August.

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (finger) has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday. McCullers has been crushed for nine earned runs over his last two outings. Possibly, the blister on his finger is part of the reason McCullers is struggling right now. He'll now get a few weeks off, but figures to rejoin the rotation in early August. In a corresponding move, right-hander Nick Hernandez has been recalled to take the spot on the active roster. The Astros haven't announced who is going to take the vacant spot in the rotation.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (back) has been cleared to take the mound for Wednesday's contest against the Athletics. Eovaldi was scratched ahead of his start on Sunday due to back tightness. He received a few days off rest and is now ready to take the mound again without any restrictions. Eovaldi holds a 1.58 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and a 94/14 K/BB ratio across 16 starts this season. He needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats ahead of this outing against the A's.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Edgardo Henriquez (foot) has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Dodgers' 15th-ranked prospect started the year on the injured list with a foot injury, but began a rehab assignment in late May. In 18 relief appearances at Oklahoma City, the 6-foot-4 hurler posted an uninspiring 5.89 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP, but struck out 30.2 percent of batters he faced (12.8 percent BB%). The 23-year-old came into the season with serious momentum, blazing through each level of the minors on the back of a phenomenal 38.9 percent strikeout rate with 88 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched, but was sidetracked by the foot injury. The right-hander will likely fill a middle relief role, but with an open closer role pending Tanner Scott's health, fantasy managers should keep an eye on the situation.

Athletics infielder Max Muncy (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Muncy was forced to make an early exit from Monday's game after getting hit by a pitch in the hand. The X-rays came back negative, but additional imaging showed a fractured hand. There is a decent chance that Muncy is done for the season as this injury will require a lengthy stint on the injured list. In his absence, Luis Urias and Gio Urshela are expected to split up the duties at second base. Muncy wasn't bringing enough to the table to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats right now anyway.

Kim will take a seat here after being forced to exit early during Monday's contest due to lower back tightness. It has been a rough season for Kim who has been limited to 10 games so far due to injuries. Luckily, this doesn't sound like the type of issue that would require a stint on the injured list. For now, Kim is considered day-to-day. Taylor Walls will take over at shortstop and bat ninth versus right-hander Davis Martin on Tuesday.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong (knee) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The Miami Marlins believe that right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) is well-rested and ready to go for his start on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres, and no restrictions will be placed on him as far as pitch count or inning limit, per Kevin Barral of Fish on First. Cabrera was pulled from his final start of the first half of the season on July 11 against the Baltimore Orioles due to elbow discomfort, but tests didn't reveal anything alarming, and the 27-year-old appears ready to go after resting up during the All-Star break last week. Before his last start against Baltimore, he hadn't given up more than two runs in 11 straight starts. The Dominican hurler enters the second half with a 3.61 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 86 K's in 82 1/3 innings over his 16 starts. Don't be afraid to roll with him against a Padres offense that has had its share of struggles in 2025.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman (illness) is serving as the designated hitter and will bat leadoff for the Rockies for Tuesday's tilt at Coors Field against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Erick Fedde. Freeman will return to the field after missing the last two games while being under the weather. Despite only having one home run in 170 at-bats in his first year in Colorado, the 26-year-old will have some DFS sleeper appeal out of the leadoff spot at hitter-friendly Coors Field against a very hittable pitcher. Freeman is getting it done in 56 games for the last-place Rockies this year, slashing .324/.401/.435 with a career-best .836 OPS, 15 RBI, 25 runs and 12 stolen bases in 197 plate appearances. The former second-rounder of the Cleveland Guardians has gone 19-for-56 (.339) with seven doubles, four RBI and three steals in 13 games in July.

Boston Red Sox outfielders Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu will both take a seat for Tuesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez on the mound. Rob Refsnyder is starting in left field and batting leadoff, while rookie Roman Anthony is in right field and in the two-hole. Duran is hitting only .209 (29-for-139) with one of his nine home runs on the year against left-handers, and he's sitting against a southpaw for the second straight time. Abreu, who also hits from the left side, has batted .225 (9-for-40) with only one of his 20 homers coming against lefties. Refsnyder is known as a lefty killer in his career and is hitting a solid .273 (30-for-110) on the year, but he doesn't come with much pop. Refsynder has gone 22-for-76 (.289) with four of his five long balls on the year against southpaws.

San Francisco Giants infielder/designated hitter Rafael Devers is making his first career start at first base and will bat third in the order on Tuesday against the hosting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Davis Daniel at Truist Park. After refusing to play first base in Boston after the season-ending injury to Triston Casas (knee), Devers was traded to the Giants in the first half and immediately said he'd be willing to work out at the cold corner. In fact, this is also the first time that the 28-year-old will play the field in 2025 after serving as a full-time DH for his first 102 starts of the season. His fantasy managers will just be hoping that the Dominican can get going at the plate on Tuesday. Since joining the Gigantes, the three-time All-Star has hit just .219 (23-for-105) with two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in 29 games played.

Detroit Tigers infielder/outfielder Javier Baez (shoulder) is back at shortstop and will hit eighth for Tuesday's contest against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Mitch Keller at PNC Park. Baez was pulled from Sunday's game after aggravating an existing left-shoulder injury in the series finale against the Texas Rangers. It wasn't considered a major injury, though, and the 32-year-old All-Star will return to the Tigers' lineup after sitting out Monday's series opener. Although he has been quiet at the plate recently, 2025 has been a pretty nice bounce-back season for the free-swinging shortstop, as he was an All-Star for the third time and is currently hitting .274/.308/.438 with 10 homers and 39 RBI in 81 games. Baez has hit just .180 in his last 15 games, but he's batting .357 with a solo homer in 14 career at-bats against Keller.

San Francisco Giants pitching prospect Carson Seymour was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. The Giants' 20th-ranked prospect has pitched well there this season, registering a 3.86 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts in 77 innings pitched over 16 appearances (15 starts). The 26-year-old made his MLB debut in late June, but as a reliever, and in those two appearances, he was unable to replicate that success. The 6-foot-6 hurler allowed seven hits, including three home runs, in a total of four innings pitched, tallying a 2:0 K:BB. It's not clear if he'll be used as a starter or reliever this time around, as the Giants sent one starter (Hayden Birdsong) and one reliever (Tristan Beck) down to Triple-A, and brought one other reliever (Sean Hjelle) up with him, but until more is known, the Kansas State product can safely be left on the waiver wire.

The Athletic's David O'Brien reports that Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (abdomen) will not come off the injured list on Tuesday. MLB.com's Mark Bowman writes that the Braves might wait to activate Riley before their series opener on Friday against the Texas Rangers on the road. The Braves are well out of playoff contention early in the second half of the season and don't feel the need to rush the 28-year-old right-handed slugger back from his abdominal strain. It means that Nacho Alvarez Jr. should make another couple starts at the hot corner this week for the remainder of the series against the San Francisco Giants. When Riley returns, though, he'll settle back into an everyday role at the hot corner. Riley should be rostered in all fantasy leagues and will return to a .274/.324/.441 slash line with 14 homers, 48 RBI and 51 runs scored.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Anthony Solometo (shoulder) was reportedly pulled off his rehab assignment after a single start at Single-A Bradenton on June 18. The Pirates' 13th-ranked prospect made two starts at Double-A Altoona to begin the year, but experienced shoulder soreness that landed him on the injured list in mid-April, and he's now withouta clear timetable for return. He reached Double-A in his first professionalseason back in 2023, but has seen diminished velocity and ineffectiveness ever since, posting a 5.98 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 4.1 percent K-BB% in 20 appearances (17 starts) at that level last year. He's still only 22 years old, so there's time to figure it out, but he's off the fantasy radar for now.

The San Francisco Giants optioned right-handers Hayden Birdsong and Tristan Beck on Tuesday, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. In a corresponding move, pitchers Carson Seymour and Sean Hjelle were recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. The move to demote Birdsong comes after he surrendered five earned runs on just one hit while walking four and striking out none while failing to record an out in Monday's 9-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The disastrous outing pushed the 23-year-old's ERA up to 4.80 on the year, and he's added a 1.49 WHIP with 68 strikeouts and 37 walks in 65 2/3 innings in 21 appearances (10 starts) in his second year in the big leagues. In his last five outings, he has really struggled to the tune of a rough 10.38 ERA with 18 K's and 17 free passes. Seymour, one of the team's top prospects, figures to get run in San Fran's rotation now.

Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter will join the Philly rotation "if we have the need and if he is throwing well at that time. He isn't guaranteed a spot in a rotation at any point," according to the team's president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski. He mentioned earlier this year that a July timeframe would be what they'd be looking at for a call-up for Painter, but it hinges on the rotation needs, and right now, they do not have one in his view. Not only that, Painter hasn't been pitching well as of late, allowing five home runs while posting a 7.04 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and an 8.22 K/9 over his last three starts. There's still a good chance Philadelphia's top-ranked prospect will make a debut sometime this year, but it might take an injury at this point. The 6-foot-7 righty remains one of the top prospect stashes in fantasy leagues due to his upside and environment.

The New York Mets announced on Tuesday that they reinstated outfielder/designated hitter Starling Marte (knee) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Jared Young to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. It's unclear if Marte will enter the starting lineup right away for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. The 36-year-old veteran is skipping a minor-league rehab assignment after missing the last two weeks with a bruise in his right knee. Marte will most likely see most of his playing time moving forward out of the DH spot for the Mets, and at this point in his career, he probably shouldn't be counted on as an everyday player. Before his injury, he was batting a solid .270 (44-for-163) but with only four home runs, 20 RBI, 22 runs and five steals. Fantasy managers also can't count on Marte running much anymore.
