Miami Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur was sharp in his return to Triple-A on Tuesday evening. Mazur was promoted to make his season debut in Miami on June 18 against the Phillies. In this outing, Mazur allowed four runs and five hits across 5 2/3 innings. However, the right-hander looked rather impressive in his return to Jacksonville. Facing Nashville, Mazur tossed six shutout innings. He allowed four hits and no walks. He struck out six. After struggling at the Triple-A level last summer, the No. 12-ranked prospect in the system has begun to take a significant step forward. Through 65 2/3 innings, Mazur has struck out 61 batters while holding a 3.29 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect him to be in the mix to return to Miami in the second half.
From RotoBaller
Washington Nationals right-handed pitching prospect Travis Sykora tossed six shutout innings en route to picking up the victory over High-A Hudson Valley on Tuesday evening. In this contest, Sykora allowed just two hits and two walks. He struck out eight. Since earning the call to High-A earlier this season, Sykora has been nothing short of impressive, logging 29 2/3 innings to the tune of a 1.21 ERA and a 0.67 WHIP. During this stint, Sykora has struck out an impressive 47 batters while allowing just eight free passes. Sykora opened the campaign with Low-A and needed just two starts to prove he was ready to join High-A. With Low-A, Sykora logged a shutout inning with a 9:2 K:BB. Given his impressive start to the season, dynasty managers should expect Sykora to continue to climb prospect boards.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Max Clark went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run during their contest against High-A Lake County on Tuesday evening. This was Clark's second-straight contest going deep. In addition, this was Clark's third-straight game tallying at least two hits. Over his last 11 games, Clark has posted a .310/.412/.595 slash line with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, and two stolen bases. Through 59 total games with High-A this season, the top-ranked prospect in the Detroit system has posted a strong .267/.418/.412 line. This is a nice improvement compared to the .264/.344/.421 line held during his first 32 games at this level during the 2024 campaign. Given his steady progress, Clark should be in the mix to reach Double-A in the second half.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner left his mark on Tuesday's 8-7 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals, going 3-for-4 with a homer and a steal. Hoerner's homer came with a runner on base in the sixth inning, and he also singled and scored in the third. The homer was actually Hoerner's first of the season, as his power has been even more lacking than usual. The 28-year-old is hitting .294 with 42 runs scored, one homer, 33 RBI, and 15 steals in 289 at-bats this season. Hoerner is still a strong option in fantasy due to the high average and speed, but expecting any power whatsoever from him is a mistake.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias collected his ninth save of the season on Tuesday, putting out a fire in the ninth inning to secure a 7-4 win. Iglesias was summoned with runners on the corners and one out with a four-run lead, and was able to escape with limited damage after allowing a run-scoring double. The 35-year-old has had a tough go of it this year and was removed from the closer role a few weeks ago, but has steadied the ship since then. Dillon Lee has been rock solid as the Braves' closer, so Iglesias might not get back into his role right away, but if Lee does falter it seems like Iglesias would be the next guy up. He is a decent stash option in leagues where saves are scarce.
From RotoBaller
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Chase Burns had a strong major league debut on Tuesday, tossing five innings of three-run ball and striking out eight in a 5-4 win over the New York Yankees. Burns took a no-decision in this one, but it was a solid first start as he was able to limit a strong Yankees lineup to just six hits, and he didn't walk anyone. The top prospect actually struck out the first five Yankees he faced, and struck out the side in the first two innings. Burns picked up right where he left off in the minors, where he was dominant across three levels, pitching to a collective 1.77 ERA and 0.77 WHIP while recording 89 strikeouts in 66 IP. The 22-year-old should be rostered everywhere and is a viable starting option for his next outing, which should come in Boston against the Red Sox next Monday.
From RotoBaller
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet authored another dominant start on Tuesday, going seven shutout innings and striking out 10 in a tough no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels. Crochet scattered three hits and three walks, and left with a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Sox bullpen immediately blew that lead, and they ended up losing 3-2 in extras. The 26-year-old has been tremendous in his first season with Boston, going 7-4 with a 2.06 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 135 strikeouts over 109 IP. He has been one of the best pitchers in the majors and should get strong consideration for starting the All-Star Game for the A.L. His next start is scheduled for next Monday, where he will take on the Cincinnati Reds at home. He is currently scheduled to match up against Chase Burns, so that will be one to watch.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) exited Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Red Sox in the ninth inning after making an errant throw to first base. Per the Associated Press' Greg Beacham, Neto jammed his throwing shoulder on a stolen base attempt earlier in the game, and interim manager Ray Montgomery said that Neto was removed as a precaution. The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts before exiting the game. Neto missed the beginning of the season after having right shoulder surgery but has slashed a strong .278/.321/.494 with 12 home runs, 29 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 262 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news, but it seems as though Neto is merely day-to-day.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Hurston Waldrep allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings as he took the loss against Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Waldrep wasn't in the zone consistently enough, with 49 of his 94 total pitches thrown for strikes. The right-hander was able to generate 10 swings-and-misses on 34 swings in this outing. However, the lack of control continues to plague him. He's allowed three or more walks in eight of his 14 starts this season. The Braves could have called upon him to join the rotation recently, but opted for the 20-year-old right-hander Didier Fuentes. Waldrep will likely continue to iron things out in the minor leagues for the time being.
From RotoBaller
Washington Nationals outfield prospect Robert Hassell III went 1-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base against Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. The 23-year-old homered for the third time since returning to Triple-A on June 18. Hassell has overall been very productive for the season, hitting .308/.366/.470 with seven homers and 12 steals in 202 plate appearances at Triple-A. He underwhelmed during his brief stint with the Nationals, with a .497 OPS in 79 plate appearances. The power looks to be average to below average, but he has run high stolen base totals in a few seasons in the minors. He would be a decent deep league add if he were to return to the majors.
From RotoBaller
Miami Marlins relief pitcher Calvin Faucher notched his eighth save of the season in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Giants. Faucher came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by two. He allowed a leadoff walk, got the first out on a strikeout, and ended the game on a ground-ball double play. The 29-year-old entered the season with some fantasy buzz. He hasn't quite lived up to expectations, but he has now converted eight of 11 save opportunities and has converted all four of his save opportunities in the last couple of weeks. He owns a 3.45 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and an 8.16 K/9 rate in 28 2/3 innings of work. Faucher may not receive many save opportunities given the team he plays for, but he has finally seemed to have settled into the closer's role, making him worth considering in deep roto leagues.
From RotoBaller
It wasn't clean, but St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley picked up his 15th save of the season in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Cubs. Helsley came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a ground-out, allowed a single, got the second out on a strikeout, allowed another single, and ended the game with a ground-out. The 30-year-old has been uncharacteristically erratic this season, blowing five saves with a 3.54 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and a 10.61 K/9 rate in 28 innings of work. The good news is that Helsley doesn't have much competition and has only walked one batter in June, and he has provided fantasy value despite some of his foibles this season.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 2-for-3 with a home run and two walks in Tuesday's 12-0 win against Triple-A Omaha. The 23-year-old looks super polished at the plate, as he has walked more than he's struck out on the season and holds a 51.5 percent hard-hit rate. After dealing with multiple injuries along the way, DeLauter appears to be knocking on the door of the big leagues. He's handled Triple-A pitching very well, slashing .312/438/.519 in 96 plate appearances. While he won't offer much in the speed department, his ability to hit for average with some power has appeal in deeper leagues and is a speculative add in standard formats.
From RotoBaller
Houston Astros closer Josh Hader picked up his 20th save of the season in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Phillies. Hader came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning. He got the first out on a strikeout, hit a batter, got the second out on a pop-up, and ended the game with another strikeout. The 31-year-old has been as good as ever this season, converting all of his save opportunities with a 1.78 ERA, a 0.74 WHIP, and a 14.01 K/9 rate in 35 1/3 innings of work. Walks and home runs have bloated his ERA at times in his career, and while his current 1.27 HR/9 rate is not the best, he has put few runners on for free. His 1.78 BB/9 rate is a career-low, so it is possible that he won't sustain it, but Hader has been outstanding overall this season, even by his standards.
From RotoBaller
San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez continued his solid season in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals, picking up his 22nd save. Suarez came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one and shut things down with a 1-2-3 outing, ending the game with a strikeout. The 34-year-old racked up 36 saves last season and is currently tied with the most saves this season. He has a 3.51 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and a 9.18 K/9 rate in 33 1/3 innings of work. Suarez may not be the most exciting closer in baseball, but he offers a very high floor from a fantasy perspective and has been rock solid since the beginning of the 2024 season.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect Carson Williams went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBI in Tuesday's 15-6 win over Triple-A Memphis. Williams hit a 465-foot moonshot in the bottom of the fourth inning and has been surging in June. The 22-year-old is slashing .324.425/662 with six homers and four stolen bases across 76 plate appearances. He's maintained a high walk rate while also making more contact during this stretch. Williams is the Rays' top prospect according to MLB.com, and if he continues trending this way, he could make his debut late in the season.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott picked up his 16th save of the season in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Rockies. He came in to pitch the bottom of the eighth inning up by three with two outs and runners on first and second. He allowed a two-RBI double before ending the inning with a fly-out. He stayed on to pitch the ninth, getting the first out on a ground-out. He allowed a single but induced a double play to end the game. Despite the Dodgers' nebulous bullpen roles, Scott has served as the team's primary closer this season. He has converted 16 of 21 save opportunities to go with a 3.65 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and a 9.73 K/9 rate in 37 innings of work. While he may prove to be frustrating from a fantasy perspective at times, given how the Dodgers treat their bullpen, Scott has offered a solid amount of fantasy value so far this season.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (ankle, elbow, shoulder) bounced back well from his live batting practice session on Monday and will make a minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Nashville against Triple-A Jacksonville this weekend, according to manager Pat Murphy. It's been a roller-coaster ride for Woodruff in the first half of 2025 as he's attempted to return from right-shoulder surgery that he had in the fall of 2023. The 32-year-old veteran did not pitch at all in 2024 and was close to rejoining Milwaukee's starting rotation last month before dealing with ankle tendinitis and a right-elbow contusion after being hit by a comebacker. Barring a third setback this weekend, he should come off the 60-day injured list before the All-Star break and should already be rostered in all fantasy leagues due to his ace potential when healthy.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins (shin) will join Triple-A Nashville to officially start his minor-league rehab assignment this week and is tentatively scheduled to debut on Thursday, according to manager Pat Murphy. Perkins began playing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Saturday and could rejoin the big-league roster before the mid-July All-Star break if he doesn't suffer a setback with his shin in the minors. The 28-year-old outfielder has yet to play in the big leagues in 2025 because of his shin injury, but when he's ready to return, he'll give the Brew Crew more outfield depth from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter. Perkins is unlikely to play regularly, but he can be useful in deeper fantasy leagues for his speed after stealing 23 bags in 121 games in his second big-league season in 2024. However, he could might run less coming off his lower-leg injury.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he wanted to leave things "open-ended" as far as when right-hander Shohei Ohtani will make his next start, but The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya writes that everything lines up for Ohtani to toe the rubber next in Kansas City against the Royals this Saturday. The 30-year-old Japanese two-way superstar made his pitching debut for L.A. on June 16 against the San Diego Padres and allowed a run in just an inning of work before throwing a shutout inning with two strikeouts in his second start on Sunday versus the Washington Nationals. Ohtani will slowly build up his pitch count as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in September of 2023, but he won't go deep enough into his third start of the year against the Royals to make it worth using him as a pitcher in fantasy lineups.
