Jasson Dominguez Tue Jun 17 2:30pm CT

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is starting in left field and hitting out of the leadoff spot for Game 2 of the series in the Bronx against the visiting Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Dominguez returns to the lineup after sitting out in Monday's series opener, and he'll be batting higher than fifth in the order for the first time all year. Now that Giancarlo Stanton is back in action, the 22-year-old could find himself on the bench more often. The Dominican switch-hitter has put up modest numbers so far in his first full season with the Yankees, slashing .236/.324/.385 with six long balls, 26 RBI, 29 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 195 at-bats. The Martian has been cold in the month of June, too, going 7-for-35 (.200) with a double, two RBI and two steals in 10 games. He has never faced Hendricks.

Yunior Severino Tue Jun 17 2:20pm CT

MinnesotaTwins infield/outfield prospect Yunior Severino (oblique) was activated off the injured list on Sunday and started at third base for Triple-A St. Paul, going 1-for-4 in the contest with a double. It was the second IL stintof the season for the 25-year-old, missing a month with a hamstring strain and two weeks with an oblique strain. In the 21 games he's played, the switch-hitter is hitting a paltry .221 but has a respectable .338 OBP thanks to a strong 15.0 percent walk rate. However, after hitting 35 home runs in 2023 and another 21 in 2024, the Dominican has yet to hit one in 68 at-bats this year. Combined with a 35.0 percent strikeoutrate thus far and falling outside the team's top 30 prospects, things are trending in the wrong direction for the 6-foot slugger. If he can display some of the power that made him a former highly regarded prospect, there's a chance he could see the big leagues later this year, but he'll also need to cut down on the strikeouts.

Alex Call Tue Jun 17 2:20pm CT

Washington Nationals outfielder Alex Call is not in the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Colorado Rockies. With Call resting, outfield prospect Daylen Lile will start in right field and bat seventh against Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela. Call will sit down after starting each of the team's last 12 games. The 30-year-old is currently in the midst of a four-game hitting streak and is hitting an even .300 (12-for-40) with two home runs, a double and three RBI in 12 games in the month of June. However, with Lile back in the big leagues, it's possible that call will find himself on the bench more going forward. He's hitting a respectable .276 (40-for-145) but with just two homers, 17 RBI and 22 runs scored. Lile is looking to get going in his 13th MLB game after starting off hitting .206 (7-for-34) with a homer and three RBI.

Matt Wallner Tue Jun 17 2:10pm CT

Minnesota Twins outfielder Matt Wallner is out of the starting lineup on Tuesday for the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds with a left-hander on the mound. Utility man Willi Castro is making the start in right field at Great American Ballpark and will bat third against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott. Wallner hasn't been good overall this year, but he's been much worse against lefties, going 3-for-20 in limited at-bats against them with one of his five home runs and eight strikeouts in 23 plate appearances. Wallner has gone hitless in his last three games with four strikeouts and has gone 6-for-41 (.146) with three homers, three RBI, four walks and 13 strikeouts in 12 games this month. Castro, a switch-hitter, has made much more contact in 2025, hitting .290/.365/.483 with an .848 OPS in 176 at-bats. He's hit .327 (18-for-55) with three of his seven homers against southpaws, making him a DFS sleeper target.

Byron Buxton Tue Jun 17 2:00pm CT

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (elbow) is back in center field and hitting leadoff for the Twins for their contest on Tuesday in Cincinnati against the Reds and left-hander Andrew Abbott. Buxton was hit by a pitch on his left elbow on Saturday against the Houston Astros and was scratched from the series finale on Sunday. However, the 31-year-old is feeling better after an off day on Monday and will return for Tuesday's series opener at Great American Ballpark. Fantasy managers will want to get Buxton back into their lineups this week. He is hitting .306 (11-for-36) in 11 games this month with a homer, three doubles, 11 RBI, three steals and three runs scored. Buxton has never faced Abbott in his career, but he's gone 11-for-36 (.306) with two of his 11 home runs on the year against left-handed hurlers.

Jordan Beck Tue Jun 17 1:50pm CT

Colorado Rockies outfielder Jordan Beck is taking the day off on Tuesday in D.C. against the hosting Washington Nationals. Sam Hilliard will make the start in left field and will bat eighth against Nationals right-hander Michael Soroka. Beck will take a day of rest after going 14-for-52 (.269) with four doubles, six RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base in the first 14 games in the month of June. The 24-year-old former first-rounder in 2022 out of Tennessee has settled in as an everyday player for the last-place Rockies in his second MLB season and is currently hitting .260/.322/.457 with a .780 OPS, eight home runs, 22 RBI, 32 runs scored and eight steals in 245 plate appearances. If Beck stays healthy, he has a shot at his first 20-20 campaign. Hilliard has one homer on the year in 28 at-bats and will be a low-upside DFS sleeper near the bottom of the order.

Deyvison De Los Santos Tue Jun 17 1:50pm CT

Miami Marlins cornerinfield prospect Deyvison De Los Santos (quad) is set to continue his rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Tuesday. The 21-year-old suffered a quad strain in mid-May that sidelined him for a month. He played two games with the team's FCL affiliate last week prior to his Single-A assignment. It shouldn't be long before he rejoins Triple-A Jacksonville, where he was slashing .250/.317/.399 with five home runs in 40 games before the injury. The Marlins' 11th-ranked prospect has huge power, blasting a minor league-leading 40 home runs last season between Double and Triple-A. A 30.5 percent strikeout rate in 2025 is concerning, but the power potential and above-average walk rate of 9.3 percent help offset it. If he gets on a roll, expect to see him make his major league debut later this year, and he could even become a stash candidate in redraft leagues.

Dane Myers Tue Jun 17 1:30pm CT

Miami Marlins outfielder Dane Myers (elbow) is expected to sit out of Tuesday's game against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies after he was beaned in the arm on Monday night, according to Isaac Azout. Myers was diagnosed with left-elbow discomfort, although X-rays came back negative, and the team is hopeful he can avoid the injured list. Fantasy managers will want to get the 29-year-old out of their lineups on Tuesday, although he could be back when the series continues on Wednesday. In his third season in Miami, Myers is hitting a strong .333 (43-for-129) with eight stolen bases, but he's provided fantasy managers with only four home runs, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored. He's making more contact this year and is a defensive asset for the Fish, but his lack of power and run production gives him a low fantasy ceiling and floor.

    From RotoBaller

Walker Jenkins Tue Jun 17 1:30pm CT

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) has been activated from the minor league injured list and will rejoin Double-A Wichita. The Twins'top prospect (MLB No. 6) went 7-for-26 (.269) during the rehabassignment, including one home run, two steals, and a 7:6 BB:K over nine games. He's a well-rounded prospect with 60-grade hit and power tools with the ability to steal bases as well, which makes him an attractive fantasy asset. With a good showing at Double-A, the 6-foot-3 sluggershould get some reps at Triple-A later this year. Due to the significant amount of time missed, it's challenging to envision an MLB debut this season, but we've seen other young stars like Jackson Holliday break in despite their youth (Jenkins is only 20 years old). Either way, he could be an impact fantasy player in 2026, so even redraft managers should have an interest in his progress.

Jurickson Profar Tue Jun 17 1:20pm CT

Atlanta Braves suspended outfielder Jurickson Profar is starting a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday night with Triple-A Gwinnett, according to The Athletic's David O'Brien. Profar is eligible to return from his 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs on July 2. The 32-year-old veteran was a big free-agent acquisition by Atlanta in the offseason after a career year in 2024 with the San Diego Padres, but he suited up for only four games with his new team before being hit with an 80-game suspension. When he's eligible to return to Atlanta, Profar will almost certainly return to an everyday role in left field, which will push Alex Verdugo into more of a bench role for the Braves. Profar hit .280/.380/.459 with an .839 OPS, a career-high 24 home runs, 85 RBI and 10 steals last year in SD, which will likely end up being the best year of his career.

Chas McCormick Tue Jun 17 1:10pm CT

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (oblique) is in Houston this week and has started a hitting and throwing progression as he works his way back from a left-oblique strain, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. McCormick landed on the 10-day injured list on May 31 but started hitting off a tee last Friday. Still, the 30-year-old has a few more boxes to check and could be asked to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the big-league roster. When McCormick does return, he'll be a platoon option in the outfield for the Astros, at best, and he offers minimal fantasy upside with mediocre power and speed. He was hitting .256 (11-for-43) with no homers, two RBI, one steal, six runs and 14 strikeouts in 36 games this year before his injury. All of McCormick's batted-ball metrics were way down in 2024, too, although it may have been due to the multiple injuries he dealt with.

    From RotoBaller

Pedro Leon Tue Jun 17 1:00pm CT

Houston Astros outfield prospect Pedro Leon (knee) was returned from his rehab assignment last Tuesday due to more soreness in his left knee, but he's now going through a running, hitting and throwing progression, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Leon has been rehabbing this year from a Grade 1 MCL sprain and recently had a setback while playing for Triple-A Sugar Land. The team's No. 18 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is working his way back but is probably several weeks away from returning to game action down on the farm. The 27-year-old Cuban hit .299/.372/.514 with an .886 OPS, 24 home runs, 90 RBI, 78 runs scored and 29 stolen bases in 118 games last year with Sugar Land and also made his big-league debut, playing in just seven games. Leon has exceptional raw power and strength, but it comes with lots of strikeouts and poor plate discipline.

Cristian Javier Tue Jun 17 12:50pm CT

Houston Astros right-hander Cristian Javier (elbow) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session in Florida last Wednesday and then threw another 20-pitch bullpen session on Monday, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Javier is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and has been throwing off the mound for a month, but he has yet to be cleared to face live hitters. However, that could be coming soon for the 28-year-old. Even if he avoids any setbacks as he continues to ramp up, Javier isn't going to be an option to return to the major-league roster until some point in the second half of 2025. The Dominican pitcher made only seven starts last year before he was shut down, going 3-1 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB in 34 2/3 frames. Javier is going to have limited fantasy appeal the rest of this season as the Astros ease him back into the fold.

Luis Garcia Tue Jun 17 12:30pm CT

Houston Astros right-hander Luis Garcia (elbow) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session on Saturday in Florida, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Garcia is recovering from right-elbow surgery and isn't expected to be an option to come off the injured list until at least late July. The 28-year-old is making positive strides in his recovery, but the next step will be for him to be cleared to face live hitters before eventually going on what will be a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. Garcia only made six starts in 2023 before undergoing Tommy John surgery in May, which caused him to miss all of last year. The Venezuelan hurler was a reliable piece of the Astros' rotation in both 2021 and 2022, recording a combined 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 324:97 K:BB in 312 2/3 innings. Garcia is likely to have a limited workload when he returns later this season.

    J.P. France Tue Jun 17 12:20pm CT

Houston Astros right-hander J.P. France (shoulder) threw 20 pitches in a live batting practice session last Friday in Florida, which was his second such session since having surgery on his right shoulder last July to fix a torn capsule. France is making progress, but he still has a ways to go before potentially being an option for Houston's starting rotation in the second half of the year. The 30-year-old former 14th-round pick in 2018 out of Mississippi State just was never healthy in his five starts (25 1/3 innings) last year before being shut down, posting a 7.46 ERA and 1.69 WHIP with 22 strikeouts and 12 walks. France was much better in his first year in the big leagues in 2023 with a 3.83 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 24 outings (23 starts), but his 4.66 FIP shows that his surface stats were a bit fortunate. He'll be a big question mark when he returns later this season.

Will Vest Tue Jun 17 12:10pm CT

According to manager A.J. Hinch, Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Will Vest (finger) will likely avoid a trip to the injured list. "I'm expecting to have him available in some capacity and not go on the injured list," Hinch noted. "Things can always change if we get more information. But so far, so good." The 30-year-old had been lights out this season, but recently exited an appearance early after he "had this feeling in his pinky." It's excellent news that the initial round of testing came back negative. However, it's still a bit of a mystery ailment, considering there doesn't seem to be a precise mechanism of injury. For now, Vest can be regarded as more on the day-to-day side of things, but he's still worth keeping a close eye on. Despite his recent blow-up performance, he still carries an exceptional 2.57 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 37:9 K:BB ratio through 35 innings.

    From RotoBaller

Jason Alexander Tue Jun 17 12:10pm CT

Houston Astros right-hander Jason Alexander will make the start on Tuesday in Sacramento against the Athletics, according to the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara. This will be Alexander's first start of the year and his first start in the big leagues since 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers in his first year in the majors. The 32-year-old veteran will be making his Astros debut on Tuesday after appearing in just four games out of the bullpen for the A's early this year, when he allowed 13 runs (12 earned) on 12 hits (three homers) while walking five and striking out five. Houston currently has an opening in their rotation due to the injury to Lance McCullers Jr., but Alexander will most likely just be filling more of an opening role this week. He had nice 1.74 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 15 K's and eight walks in 20 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers should be avoiding him as a streamer.

Garrett Mitchell Tue Jun 17 12:00pm CT

Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) will join Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to continue his rehab assignment. The UCLA product has been shelved since April with an oblique strain. Mitchell started his rehab assignment with Milwaukee's rookie-level affiliate over the weekend and struck out in his only two at-bats. It's good news that he'll quickly be moved up a few levels. Still, he'll likely require at least a few more rehab outings before rejoining the big-league squad. Prior to his injury, the 26-year-old was slashing a woeful .206/.286/.294 through his first 25 appearances, though he should slot in as Milwaukee's primary centerfielder upon his return.

Kirby Yates Tue Jun 17 11:40am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Kirby Yates earned his second save of the season in Monday's 6-3 home win against the San Diego Padres. With fellow bullpen arm Tanner Scott working the eighth inning, Yates was summoned in the ninth to protect the team's three-run lead and had little trouble doing so. He needed just ten pitches (nine strikes) to retire Jake Cronenworth (ground out), Jose Iglesias (line out), and Tyler Wade (pop out) in order. It was his first save in over a month. The Dodgers like to move around the pieces in the back of their bullpen, as seven different pitchers have notched a save. Yates, Scott, Blake Treinen, and Alex Vesia have each recorded two or more.

    From RotoBaller

Rafael Devers Tue Jun 17 11:30am CT

MLB Insider Jon Heyman reports that San Francisco Giants designated hitter Rafael Devers has arrived in San Francisco and will presumably be in the lineup on Tuesday for the opening game of their series with the visiting Cleveland Guardians. With San Francisco's day off on Monday, Devers had an extra day to transition to his new squad. He'll have his introductory press conference with the team later on Tuesday, and then projects to suit up for their game against the Guardians at home. It's a familiar foe for the 28-year-old, so he'll only have to adjust to his new home park. There could be some growing pains for him, but he's an instant upgrade to the Giants' lineup and should substantially boost a team in the top half of the league in runs scored per game (4.29).
