Ian Happ Sat Jun 21 8:40pm CT

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ remained hot at the plate during Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He got the fun started off early with a home run off right-hander Emerson Hancock in the first inning. He wasn't done there as he blasted a three-run shot off Hancock in the second inning. He'd finish his day 2-for-4 with two homers, four RBI, and one walk in the win. Happ has now homered in three straight games as pitchers can't seem to keep him in the ballpark. He's slashing .250/.343/.423 with 11 homers, 38 RBI, and four steals this season. Happ needs to be rostered and started in most fantasy formats right now.

Cal Raleigh Sat Jun 21 8:40pm CT

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continued his power hitting ways during Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Surprisingly, Raleigh was held in check until he blasted a solo home run off right-hander Daniel Palencia in the ninth inning. He would finish this game 1-for-5 with a solo homer and one RBI in the loss. Raleigh has now homered three times over his last four games. He is the first player to reach 30 home runs this season, and we aren't even to the All-Star break yet. Raleigh is on pace to put up record setting numbers and we're just along for the ride.

Camilo Doval Sat Jun 21 8:30pm CT

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Camilo Doval was handed the ball with a three-run lead versus the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Doval struggled early as he allowed three straight hits and two runs. He was able to settle down and retire the next three batters to earn his 12th save of the season. Doval has been lights out over the last few months, so fantasy managers shouldn't be alarmed by this outing. He has pitched in three of the last four games, so fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if he is unavailable on Sunday. Doval holds a 2.06 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 33/15 K/BB ratio across 35 innings this season. He should be rostered in most fantasy formats where saves matter.

Lance McCullers Jr. Sat Jun 21 8:20pm CT

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (foot) was able to play catch ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The plan is for McCullers to throw again on Sunday. If everything goes well, McCullers could throw off the mound on Monday. It sounds like McCullers is trending in the right direction and could only miss the minimal amount of time on the injured list. The Astros should have a better idea of McCullers timetable after this weekend. Fantasy managers should wait patiently as McCullers could be back on the mound soon.

Chris Martin Sat Jun 21 8:20pm CT

Texas Rangers relief pitcher Chris Martin was asked to close out the game in the ninth inning during Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lately, Robert Garcia has been the closer in Texas, but it doesn't look like he was available for this game. Instead, Martin was called upon to hold a one-run lead in the final frame. The veteran right-hander tossed a scoreless inning while striking out two batters to earn his second save of the season. Martin now holds a 1.48 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a 28/3 K/BB ratio across 24.1 innings this season. Martin isn't someone that must be rostered right now, but it looks like he's definitely a trusted option in the ninth inning.

Rafael Devers Sat Jun 21 6:00pm CT

San Francisco Giants corner infielder Rafael Devers came up with a clutch hit during Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox. Devers went 0-for-5 during his first matchup against his former team on Friday. However, Devers was able to do some damage with the bat on Saturday. The left-handed slugger blasted a two-run home run off right-hander Brayan Bello in the third inning. It was his first homer with his new team and a big hit that would help his team get the win. He finished the game 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the 3-2 victory.

Landen Roupp Sat Jun 21 6:00pm CT

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Landen Roupp looked strong on the mound during Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox. It's nice to see Roupp rebounding after giving up six earned runs during his last outing. On Saturday, Roupp tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits, three walks, and struck out seven batters in the win. Roupp has shown flashes of being solid, but still remains an inconsistent option. He could be worth looking at as a streaming option in a favorable outing against the Chicago White Sox next week. However, Roupp isn't someone that needs to be rostered in most fantasy formats right now.

Jason Heyward Sat Jun 21 5:40pm CT

San Diego Padres outfielder Jason Heyward (oblique) has been designated for assignment by the organization on Saturday. Heyward is currently on the injured list, but the team has decided to remove him from the roster rather than activate him. In a corresponding move, left-hander Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) has been activated off the injured list. Heyward is unlikely to have a ton of interest on the open market given he's slashing .176/.223/.271 this season. The veteran outfielder could be a possible veteran presence for a young contending team, but probably won't have too many bidders. Heyward doesn't need to be rostered in any fantasy formats right now.

Corbin Carroll Sat Jun 21 5:40pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Carroll is now set to miss his third game in a row after getting hit in the hand on Wednesday. Luckily, D-Backs manager Torey Lovullo said Carroll is close to getting back on the field. That being said, fantasy managers should expect Carroll back in the mix within the next few days. In the meantime, Randal Grichuk will cover right field and bat fifth versus left-hander Carson Palmquist on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday to see if Carroll is ready to return.

    From RotoBaller

Max Kranick Sat Jun 21 5:30pm CT

New York Mets relief pitcher Max Kranick (elbow) has been placed on the 15-day injured list. He underwent an MRI that revealed a flexor strain in his right elbow, so Kranick will miss some time. The expectation is that Kranick is going to miss 3-4 weeks of action. That being said, Kranick is unlikely to get back on the mound until after the All-Star break. Before going down, Kranick posted a 3.65 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 25/5 K/BB ratio across 37 innings of work.

    From RotoBaller

Thairo Estrada Sat Jun 21 5:30pm CT

Colorado Rockies infielder Thairo Estrada (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This marks the fourth game in a row that Estrada has missed due to a right hand injury. He was hit by a pitch on the right hand on Tuesday and hasn't been able to suit up since then. The organization doesn't believe he'll require a trip to the injured list, but he might end up on the shelf if he's not back in the lineup soon. Orlando Arcia will take eighth and cover second base versus right-hander Merrill Kelly on Saturday.

    From RotoBaller

Clarke Schmidt Sat Jun 21 4:10pm CT

New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt was pulled from a no-hit bid after tossing a career-high 103 pitches against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Schmidt fired seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts, two walks, and a hit by pitch in a 9-0 victory. He improved to 4-3 on the season and continued an incredible run of pitching over the past couple of weeks. Schmidt has now amassed 25 1/3 scoreless innings in a row dating back to June 4. Having put up three straight quality starts of scoreless ball, Schmidt's ERA is down to 2.84 with 65:26 K:BB across 69 2/3 frames. The 29-year-old will try to extend the streak against the Athletics on Friday.

Jordan Westburg Sat Jun 21 4:00pm CT

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg (finger) suffered a jammed finger in the team's 9-0 loss to the New York Yankees on Saturday, manager Tony Mansolino announced. Westburg started the game at DH, but he had to depart early after drawing a walk and stealing a base. X-rays came back negative, and the Orioles are "hoping it's day-to-day," Mansolino said. The Orioles are optimistic that Westburg will avoid a stint on the injured list, though fantasy managers should monitor his status over the next few days. Westburg previously spent over a month on the IL with a hamstring injury. He came back June 10 and has since hit .256/.326/.538 with three home runs and eight RBI in 11 games.

Jon Gray Sat Jun 21 3:40pm CT

Texas Rangers pitcher Jon Gray (wrist) is making progress in his recovery from a fractured right wrist. Gray got through a "glorified bullpen" session of approximately 35 pitches on Saturday unscathed, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. The Rangers have gone all season without Gray after he suffered the injury in spring training. The right-hander totaled 23 appearances (19 starts) of 4.47 ERA ball with 7.54 K/9 and 2.45 BB/9 over 102 2/3 innings last season. It remains unclear when Gray will debut this year.

Didier Fuentes Sat Jun 21 3:30pm CT

The Atlanta Braves had to place ace Chris Sale (rib cage) on the 15-day injured list with a fractured left rib cage on Saturday. Sale's absence will leave a massive void in their rotation. It'll also lead to more opportunities for right-handed prospect Didier Fuentes, who will stay in their starting five with Sale out. "We'll go with the five guys we have," manager Brian Snitker told Gabe Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. MLB Pipeline's 10th-ranked Braves prospect, Fuentes made his major league debut Friday and struggled in a 6-2 loss to the Miami Marlins. Fuentes logged five innings of four-run ball with six hits allowed and 3:1 K:BB. With the Braves set to take on the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies next week, Fuentes should be avoided from a fantasy perspective in his next start.

Hunter Bigge Sat Jun 21 3:20pm CT

Tampa Bay Rays reliever Hunter Bigge (face) was released from the hospital and is "doing well," per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Bigge suffered a frightening injury in the dugout Thursday when a 105.1 mph line drive hit by Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman struck him in the face. Bigge was taken off the field on a stretcher. The 27-year-old gave a thumbs-up on his way out, but he had to undergo surgery on multiple facial fractures. Fortunately, he's now doing much better.

Jordan Hicks Sat Jun 21 3:10pm CT

Boston Red Sox right-hander Jordan Hicks (toe) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. If all goes well, Hicks will debut with the Red Sox on a homestand that runs from June 27-July 2. Hicks joined the Red Sox last weekend as part of their return from the San Francisco Giants for star slugger Rafael Devers. The 28-year-old hurler last pitched June 1 and then went on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right big toe. Hicks has worked most of his career as a reliever, but he opened this year as a starter before the Giants demoted him to their bullpen. He has recorded a bloated 6.47 ERA (3.85 xERA) with 43:20 K:BB in 48 2/3 innings this season. It appears the Red Sox will use Hicks in relief. "We're absolutely excited about bringing Jordan Hicks, a dominant late-inning reliever, into our mix," general manager Craig Breslow said when Boston acquired Hicks.

    From RotoBaller

Kutter Crawford Sat Jun 21 2:00pm CT

The Boston Red Sox have shut down starter Kutter Crawford (wrist/knee) after he felt more pain in his injured right wrist, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. The righty will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. This is the second time in the past few weeks that the Red Sox have had to pause Crawford's rehab because of his wrist. He hasn't pitched at all this year after starting the season on the injured list with right-patellar tendinopathy. The 29-year-old made a career-high 33 starts a season ago and posted a 4.36 ERA with 8.58 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 183 2/3 innings. Crawford could factor into Boston's rotation this summer if he comes back, but it's up in the air whether he'll be able to pitch at all in 2025.

Nathan Eovaldi Sat Jun 21 1:50pm CT

Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) threw 50-plus pitches over three simulated innings of live batting practice Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Eovaldi could rejoin the Rangers' rotation during the upcoming week if he doesn't suffer any setbacks, according to Landry. The Rangers have gone all of June without Eovaldi, who hasn't pitched since May 27 because of an injured right triceps. Before he landed on the shelf, Eovaldi performed like one of the top starters in baseball. The 35-year-old opened the season with an elite 1.56 ERA (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against 10 walks in 69 1/3 innings.

    From RotoBaller

Justin Foscue Sat Jun 21 1:40pm CT

The Texas Rangers have recalled infielder Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock, the team announced. Foscue will take the roster spot of infielder Jake Burger (oblique), who went on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. Foscue joined the Rangers as the 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft and debuted in the majors last year, when he collected a mere two hits in 42 at-bats. The 26-year-old has produced good numbers at the Triple-A level, however, with a .269/.392/.474 line across 1,011 plate appearances. He has batted .269/.360/.487 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI, and 32:27 K:BB in 229 plate appearances with Round Rock this year. Defensively, Foscue has divided his time this season between first and second base. Foscue will give the Rangers some depth in the infield during Burger's absence, but he's unlikely to make much of an impact from a fantasy standpoint.
