Brandon Walter Mon Jun 16 6:20am CT

Houston Astros left-hander Brandon Walter turned in an impressive start in his team's 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in 10 innings on Sunday. Walter allowed one run on six hits over 6 2/3 innings of work while striking out nine and walking none but he had to settle for a no-decision in the extra-inning game. The southpaw recorded an excellent 17 swinging strikes in the start. Walter now has a 1.53 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings of work spanning three starts and is a priority waiver add in all leagues this week.

Otto Kemp Mon Jun 16 6:20am CT

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Otto Kemp had a big day in an 11-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Kemp went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and a stolen base to help propel Philadelphia to the win. The rookie has been filling in at first base while Bryce Harper is dealing with a wrist injury and has looked good, hitting .345 with five runs, four RBI, and a steal across 29 at-bats. He is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues while Harper is sidelined.

Junior Caminero Mon Jun 16 6:10am CT

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero had a big afternoon in a 9-0 win over the New York Mets on Sunday. Caminero went 1-for-3 with a homer, two walks, three runs, and three RBI to help power the Rays to the win. The young infielder launched a three-run homer in the ninth inning off Mets reliever Ryne Stanek to give the Rays their final runs of the game. Caminero is posting impressive numbers in his second big-league season, hitting .246 with 17 homers, 41 runs, 45 RBI, and five steals across 260 at-bats. He has worked his way into the conversation as an everyday starter in most fantasy leagues.

Shane Baz Mon Jun 16 6:10am CT

Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Shane Baz turned in a quality start while earning the win in a 9-0 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday. Baz tossed 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball while scattering three hits and striking out six. He was a little wild as he walked four batters while throwing just 60 of 106 pitches for strikes, but he was able to prevent those free passes from coming around to hurt him in the shutout. Baz now has a 6-3 record, 4.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts over 77 1/3 innings of work on the season. He will look to build upon that strong start in his next outing, which will be against the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

Andy Pages Mon Jun 16 6:00am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages had a big night in his team's 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. Pages went 1-for-3 with a homer and four RBI to help lead the Dodgers to the win. The veteran outfielder put the Dodgers up 5-3 with his three-run homer in the fifth inning. Pages is in the midst of a breakout season, hitting .281 with 13 homers, 33 runs, 46 RBI, and six steals across 256 at-bats. He has worked his way into the conversation as a starting-caliber fantasy outfielder in all formats.

Elias Diaz Mon Jun 16 6:00am CT

San Diego Padres catcher Elias Diaz had a productive game in his team's 8-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, one RBI, and two runs scored to help power San Diego to victory. The veteran catcher put the Padres up 7-2 with his solo homer in the ninth inning, a shot that traveled 412 feet with an exit velocity of 102.2 MPH. Diaz is now hitting .219 with five doubles, four homers, 20 runs, and 10 RBI across 146 at-bats this season. He has been on a modest hot streak of late, batting .263 in his last seven contests. That being said, he doesn't provide enough upside on offense to be on the map in most fantasy leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Randy Arozarena Mon Jun 16 6:00am CT

Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena turned in a productive game in a 6-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Arozarena did not record an official at-bat but he walked three times, scored two runs, and stole two bases in the win. The veteran outfielder's numbers are down this season by his standards as he is now hitting .231 with eight homers, 29 runs, 28 RBI, and 14 stolen bases across 247 at-bats. That being said, he is close to recording a fifth straight season with double-digit homers and steals. That blend of power and speed potential keeps him in the conversation as an above-average fantasy outfielder in most leagues.

Andrew Painter Mon Jun 16 5:50am CT

Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter tossed five shutout frames in his start against Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. In this outing, Painter allowed just one hit and two walks. He struck out six batters. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the budding ace as he allowed 10 runs and 14 hits over his last nine innings of work. During these nine innings, Painter allowed four walks and struck out nine hitters. Prior to that minor skid, Painter held a 2.65 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP during his first four starts with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Painter began the season with Low-A and held a 3.97 ERA with a stellar 0.97 WHIP through a brief 11 1/3 inning stint. Given his strong bounce back, Painter could be in the mix to reach the majors in the coming weeks. As a result, he is a solid stash candidate in all standard leagues.

Mason Miller Mon Jun 16 5:50am CT

Athletics right-hander Mason Miller tossed a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Miller struck out two while working around one hit to pick up his 14th save in 16 opportunities on the season. Overall, the veteran closer has a 0-2 record, 5.33 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts over 25 1/3 innings of work. Miller has not allowed a run in six of his past seven appearances, although he coughed up three runs in his last outing. He remains an excellent fantasy closer thanks to his elite strikeout rate.

Hurston Waldrep Mon Jun 16 5:50am CT

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect Hurston Waldrep tossed six innings of one-run ball en route to picking up the victory over Triple-A Memphis on Sunday. In this outing, Waldrep struck out six batters and allowed seven hits and just one walk. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the former 24th overall pick as he allowed a season-high six runs in his last outing on June 8. Through 57 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Waldrep has had mixed results as he sits with a 5.84 ERA and a 170 WHIP. However, Waldrep has flashed decent strikeout upside, tallying 62 over this stretch. Last season, Waldrep made his MLB debut but only made two starts and served up 13 earned runs. If Waldrep can continue to find his footing at Triple-A, he could be in the mix to return to Atlanta in the second half.

Max Clark Mon Jun 16 5:40am CT

Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Max Clark went 2-for-5 at the plate with a triple, two RBI, and a walk to extend his hitting streak to five games on Sunday. This was also Clark's second-straight game tallying at least two hits. During this five-game stretch, the top prospect in Detroit has posted a strong .318/.444/.545 line with a double, two triples, five RBI, and a 6:5 K:BB. Prior to this recent surge, Clark posted a modest .136/.356/.182 line with just two extra-base hits over his last 12 contests. Through 53 total games with High-A West Michigan this season, the No. 7-ranked prospect in the sport has held a .264/.422/.388 line with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, nine stolen bases, and an impressive 41:54 K:BB. Fantasy managers should expect Clark to earn a taste of Double-A later this season.

    From RotoBaller

Konnor Griffin Mon Jun 16 5:30am CT

Pittsburgh Pirates infield prospect Konnor Griffin went deep on Sunday for the second-straight game. In this contest against High-A Rome, Griffin went 1-for-4 at the plate with a long ball and three RBI. On Saturday, Griffin tallied three hits at the plate with a home run. Through his first six games at the High-A level, the ninth overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has been swinging a hot bat, posting a stellar .407/.469/.778 line with four doubles and two home runs. During this stretch, Griffin has swiped six bags and held a 2:3 K:BB. Earlier this season, Griffin made his professional debut with Low-A Bradenton and posted a .338/.396/.536 slash line with 10 doubles and nine home runs across 50 games. Griffin is quickly rising up dynasty boards but remains several seasons away from his MLB debut.

Brayan Bello Mon Jun 16 12:00am CT

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello pitched seven shutout innings while striking out eight in a 2-0 win over the Yankees. He allowed three hits and three walks while improving his record to 3-1. This was the right-hander's third straight quality start, and he has only allowed more than three runs in a start once all season. The main problem has been efficiency, as Bello had a five-start stretch from May 8 to May 28 where he failed to complete five full frames. He'll carry a 3.49 ERA into his next start against the Giants.

    J.P. Crawford Sun Jun 15 11:10pm CT

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford belted a grand slam in the club's 6-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Crawford came to the plate in the bottom of the second and emptied the bases with a 377-foot blast against right-hander Luis Ortiz. He added a walk in a 1-for-3 afternoon. Although Crawford hadn't homered in June until Sunday, he has been a hitting machine over the past couple weeks. In 15 games since May 30, the 30-year-old has gone an incredible 25-for-57 (.439) with two HRs, nine RBI, 12 walks, and five strikeouts. After recording lackluster production a year ago, he has bounced back to slash .296/.411/.413 with six homers, 29 RBI, 30 runs, and four steals over 289 plate appearances. With Crawford ranking in the league's 85th percentile in xwOBA and in its 90th percentile in xBA, his rebound looks legitimate.

Kumar Rocker Sun Jun 15 11:00pm CT

Texas Rangers right-hander Kumar Rocker (2-4) picked up his second win of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Rocker allowed four hits over five scoreless innings and posted six strikeouts against one walk. It was one of Rocker's best performances during what has been a difficult season in the majors for the 25-year-old. After struggling to an 8.10 ERA in his first five starts, the Rangers placed Rocker on the 15-day injured list with a shoulder impingement on April 24. He then returned June 4 to give up five earned runs in 3 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rangers optioned Kumar back to the minors, but a spot opened up for him when righty Tyler Mahle went on the 15-day IL with shoulder fatigue. Rocker took advantage of the opportunity on Sunday. He improved his ERA to 7.31 (3.71 xFIP) with 27 strikeouts and eight walks over 28 1/3 frames. If Rocker gets another turn in the Rangers' rotation, it could come against a subpar Pittsburgh Pirates offense over the weekend.

Grant Holmes Sun Jun 15 11:00pm CT

Atlanta Braves right-hander Grant Holmes (3-6) took a hard-luck loss against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday despite piling up 15 strikeouts. Holmes accomplished the feat over just 6 1/3 innings, but a lack of run support cost him in a lopsided 10-1 affair. The 29-year-old gave up three runs (two earned) on just two hits and two walks. Holmes has been solid overall this season - his first as a full-time starter - with a 3.97 ERA and 92 strikeouts against 34 walks over 79 1/3 frames. While he isn't a must-start for fantasy managers, Holmes does have a favorable matchup on Saturday against the Miami Marlins.

Elly De La Cruz Sun Jun 15 10:50pm CT

Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz put together a spectacular Sunday performance in an 8-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. De La Cruz bashed his 16th homer to highlight a 3-for-5 afternoon with three RBI and two additional runs scored. The 23-year-old has now homered in four consecutive games. Overall, De La Cruz has batted a robust .273/.352/.498 with 50 RBI, 57 runs, and 20 steals in 310 plate appearances. He's well on his way to surpassing the career-high HR (25) and RBI (76) totals that he registered a season ago. De La Cruz will get back to work Tuesday against Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa.

    From RotoBaller

Ian Happ Sun Jun 15 10:40pm CT

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ hit a walk-off single in a 3-2 defeat of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Happ, whose 10th-inning knock came against Pirates closer David Bednar, finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout. This has been an unspectacular season for Happ, who's batting .249/.340/.385 with seven homers, 31 RBI, 44 runs, and four steals in 297 plate appearances. He racked up 20-plus homers, 80-plus RBI, and double-digit steals in each of the previous two seasons. Happ has a lot of catching up to do over the Cubs' final 90 games in order to approach those numbers this year. He'll face Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick on Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Will Vest Sun Jun 15 10:30pm CT

Detroit Tigers reliever Will Vest (pinky) exited early in an 8-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday with an undisclosed injury. Afterward, manager A.J. Hinch told Evan Woodbery of MLive.com that "(Vest) had this feeling in his pinky. It was bothering him, so we took him out. We'll get him evaluated, and he'll run through the whole battery of tests. I have no idea what it is." Vest suffered his first loss and his third blown save of the season after allowing three unearned runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. The right-hander left after uncorking a wild pitch. Overall, the 30-year-old has done great work this season with a 1.80 ERA, 37:9 K:BB, and 12 saves over 35 frames. If Vest requires a stint on the 15-day injured list, it should lead to more save opportunities for righty Tommy Kahnle.

Nick Pivetta Sun Jun 15 10:30pm CT

San Diego Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta (7-2) collected his seventh win of the season Sunday in an 8-2 decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pivetta surrendered just two runs on two hits and tallied nine strikeouts against one walk over seven innings. It was a much-needed return to form for Pivetta, who combined to allow nine earned runs over 10 innings in his previous two outings. The 32-year-old is now up to seven quality starts this season with a 3.40 ERA and 88:22 K:BB through 79 1/3 innings. Pivetta is scheduled to get the ball against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
