MLive's EvanWoodbery reports that Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. Olson threw a bullpen on June 7 and felt fine, although he hasn't been able to throw his changeup without irritation to his right ring finger that landed him on the 15-day injured list on May 19. The 25-year-old will attempt to throw his changeup again on Wednesday, and the Tigers are "cautiously optimistic" that they'll get him "back sooner than later," according to general manager Jeff Greenberg. If Olson has a successful bullpen on Wednesday, he could be cleared to face live hitters and return to Detroit's starting rotation before the end of June. Before his finger injury, Olson was in the midst of a breakout season over just nine starts, recording a 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 51 K's and 19 walks in 48 2/3 innings pitched.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Alex Cobb (hip) is scheduled to continue his minor-league rehab start on Wednesday and start for Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Cobb, who has been out all year due to right-hip inflammation, threw 2 1/3 hitless innings in his second rehab start for High-A West Michigan on June 6 and felt "incrementally better," according to manager A.J. Hinch. After throwing 50 pitches in his last rehab start, the 37-year-old right-hander will probably need a couple more outings in the minors before he becomes an option to be activated from the 60-day injured list to join the big-league roster. Cobb was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants but made only three starts for Cleveland due to injury last year. He has never made 30 starts in a season and sports a below-average 7.5 K/9 in his 13-year career, limiting his fantasy appeal to much deeper leagues.

After meeting with Dr. Keith Meister, Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for two weeks and could be available to come off the 15-day injured list in four to six weeks if everything goes well. Miller will also receive a platelet-rich plasma injection in his troublesome right elbow. The 26-year-old went back on the 15-day IL on Tuesday with inflammation while dealing with a bone spur in his right elbow. After returning from a three-week absence in May, he gave up eight earned runs on 11 hits (two homers) while walking two and striking out only four in nine innings in two starts against the Twins and Angels. The M's recalled rookie Logan Evans to make a spot start on Tuesday against Arizona, but the good news is that Logan Gilbert (elbow) is expected to rejoin the rotation at some point next week. We won't see Miller again until the second half of the season.

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) said that he will miss more than 10 games on the injured list with a sprained hand, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. Chapman had an MRI exam on Monday that showed sprained ligaments, but he's hoping to be back before the end of the first half of the 2025 season. The 32-year-old veteran injured his right hand while diving back into first base on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Although he won't be back in 10 days, there's a chance Chapman could be back before the All-Star break in mid-July. Fantasy managers will want to stash the former first-rounder in all leagues, especially since he was hitting .395 (15-for-38) with three homers, five doubles, five RBI, two steals and seven runs in his last 11 games. Casey Schmitt should see most of the starts at third base in San Fran until Chapman returns.

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Tuesday that they placed right-handed reliever Justin Martinez (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. Right-hander Christian Montes De Oca (elbow) was also placed on the 15-day IL, while right-handers Kevin Ginkel, Bryce Jarvis and Tayler Scott were all called up from Triple-A Reno. Righty Jeff Brigham was optioned to Reno. Martinez injured his elbow during his outing in Monday's extra-inning win over the Seattle Mariners and is likely to be out well into the second half of the season. The 23-year-old will go for a second opinion after his MRI exam, according to manager Torey Lovullo, which is an ominous sign. Martinez could be looking at Tommy John surgery in the future. With lefty A.J. Puk (elbow) still out, veteran Shelby Miller is looking at primary closing duties in the desert.

The Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is making enough progress in his recovery from 2023 Tommy John surgery that he could pitch sooner than expected, manager Dave Roberts announced. Roberts said that the chances of Ohtani pitching before his post-All-Star break timeline are "north of zero," per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Both Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior came away encouraged from Ohtani's three-inning simulated game on Tuesday. Ohtani hasn't taken a major league mound since August 2023, but the two-way superstar has continued to make an enormous impact as a hitter. The Los Angeles Times' Jack Harris reported on Tuesday that Ohtani threw 44 pitches over three simulated innings, including 23 in his last inning, before the game at Petco Park against the Padres. He allowed a ground-ball single, one walk and had six strikeouts while inducing 15 total whiffs against a few minor-league hitters.

The Orioles have placed infielder/outfielder Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced. The move is retroactive to June 7. The O's selected infielder Luis Vasquez from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Mateo began feeling discomfort in his elbow after a collision with teammate Heston Kjerstad back on May 31, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but there's no timeline for Mateo's return. The defensively versatile 29-year-old has gotten off to a woeful start this season with a .180/.231/.279 line and one home run over 65 plate appearances. However, Mateo has once again been a good source of stolen bases. He's 14-of-15 on his attempts this year.

Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is in Arlington to undergo further diagnostic testing on his injured triceps, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers expect Eovaldi to throw a bullpen session this weekend. Eovaldi went on the 15-day IL with tightness in his triceps on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), derailing a fantastic start to the season for the 35-year-old. He stormed out of the gates with 69 1/3 innings of 1.56 ERA ball (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against a meager 10 walks before his IL stint. While it's unknown when Eovaldi will return, the Rangers have suggested his IL placement was precautionary. If that's the case, he could be back in their rotation soon.

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson is not in the team's lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. It's not yet known why the Athletics scratched Wilson from their starting nine. Max Schuemann will take his place at shortstop and bat eighth. The 23-year-old Wilson is enjoying a sensational rookie season with a .366/.402/.520 line, eight home runs, and five stolen bases in 272 plate appearances. The hope is that he's not dealing with an injury, but the A's should have more information soon.
From RotoBaller
Veteran right-handed reliever Craig Kimbrel signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Atlanta Braves recently recalled Kimbrel up from the minors but then designated him for assignment after just one appearance out of their bullpen. He elected free agency and has quickly latched on with another team. The 37-year-old will likely start at Triple-A Round Rock, but there's a good chance he'll find his way back to the big leagues before long in some sort of high-leverage setup role. Kimbrel held a nice 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, three saves, 23 strikeouts and nine walks in 18 relief innings with Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett in the Braves organization. The nine-time All-Star has saved 440 games in his 16-year MLB career, but he faces an uphill battle to get back into fantasy relevance the rest of the 2025 season.
From RotoBaller
The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Andres Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and optioned infielder Nasim Nunez to Rochester in a corresponding move, according to president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo. Chaparro will be making his season debut for the Nats when he gets into a game after missing the first two months of the year with an oblique strain. The 26-year-old was hitting well at Rochester before his promotion, going 17-for-56 (.304) with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored in 15 games played. As a rookie in 2024, the Venezuelan hit .215 (26-for-121) with four homers and 15 RBI in his first 33 games. Chaparro is really only worth a look from fantasy managers looking for bench depth in deep NL-only leagues as a potential platoon guy against left-handed pitchers.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Royals right-handed reliever Lucas Erceg (back) is on track to rejoin the team on Wednesday, manager Matt Quatraro announced. Erceg has been on the 15-day injured list since May 27 with a low back strain, but he has been able to get through his rehab without incident. He threw a perfect inning for Triple-A Omaha on Sunday. The 30-year-old was a great source of holds before he landed on the shelf, picking up 13. He also pitched to an excellent 1.96 ERA (3.23 xERA) with 18:3 K:BB and a career-best 53.3% ground-ball rate over a 23-inning span.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) completed a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. It was Snell's first bullpen session since April. Snell revealed afterward that his shoulder wasn't pain-free until two weeks ago. The Dodgers signed Snell to a five-year, $182 million guarantee in free agency, but the two-time Cy Young winner hasn't pitched yet this season on account of his shoulder problems. He's obviously still a ways off from debuting this season, but it's a positive sign that he was able to get through Tuesday's throwing session unscathed.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Lou Trivino will serve as the opener ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers will go with a bullpen game here, which could be a hard task against a tough Padres lineup. Trivino will get the ball first with Matt Sauer likely pitching a bulk of the innings. The Dodgers appear to be in good hands with Trivino who is posting a 1.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP since joining the team. He's not a great fantasy option here, but could offer some low-end value for managers looking for bullpen help.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith heads to the bench ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Smith is absent from the starting lineup after starting in each of the last three games. During that span, Smith went 3-for-13 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk. In his absence, Dalton Rushing will start behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Dylan Cease. Smith has been seeing more time on the bench lately, but that is likely due to the emergence of Rushing. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried as Smith is hitting well enough to remain a mainstay in the lineup.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Nathan Lukes (neck) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The severity of the issue is unknown, but Lukes has been pulled from the lineup due to neck discomfort. For now, fantasy managers should consider Lukes as day-to-day until more information is revealed. The Jays will go with Alan Roden, Jonatan Clase, and Myles Straw in the outfield for Tuesday's contest. Straw figures to gain the most playing time if Lukes is forced to miss more games.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jorge Soler (groin) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Athletics. Soler is back in action after missing each of the last two games due to a lingering groin issue. This doesn't appear to be a serious issue, but it is something that Soler has dealt with in the past. Soler will bat fifth and cover right field versus right-hander Mitch Spence on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups and get Soler back in there.
From RotoBaller
Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This is a routine rest day for Heim who has been in a terrible slump at the plate. Heim is 4-for-40 over his last 13 games, which includes three straight hitless performances. Kyle Higashioka will take over behind the plate and bat ninth against right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson on Tuesday. Heim has decent power potential, but he isn't doing enough with the bat right now to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.
From RotoBaller
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (hand) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Moreno has missed the last three games after getting hit in the right hand during Friday's game. He missed a few games due to inflammation in his hand, but appears to be ready to go now. Moreno has been crushing the ball lately, slashing .358/.393/.660 with three home runs and eight RBI over his last 15 games. He'll bat eighth and cover behind the plate versus right-hander Logan Evans on Tuesday.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This appears to be a routine rest day for Yelich who has started in each of the last seven games. Over the last three games, Yelich is 1-for-9, so a rest day looks like it's needed. In his absence, Jake Bauers will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus right-hander Grant Holmes on Tuesday.
