Detroit Tigers infielder/outfielder Matt Vierling (shoulder) received an injection in his ailing right shoulder on Thursday. The 28-year-old is expected to resume baseball activities this weekend. The fifth-year pro had already missed most of the season to this point with shoulder inflammation, returning for four games at the end of May before heading back to the shelf. The fact that he'll resume baseball activities this weekend is a good sign, though, so hopefully the injury doesn't continue to linger. The 6-foot-2 slugger is coming off a season in which he belted 16 home runs and scored 80 runs, plus he is eligible at both 3B and OF, so there is some fantasy intrigue with Vierling, but for now, he's probablybest left to the waiver wire.

Cleveland Guardians catcher Austin Hedges has been placed on the 7-day concussion IL. The veteran suffered the injury on Wednesday when he was struck in the helmet by Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s backswing. The 32-year-old backstop stayed in the game but experienced slight symptoms the following day that did not subside, and with a history of concussions, the team erred on the side of caution. Hedges is there for his leadership and defense more so than his offense, as the right-handed slugger owns a .229 wOBA and 43 wRC+ in 61 PA, so there is little fantasy relevance here, but hopefully he can make a quick recovery. Dom Nunez was called up from Triple-A and received the start on Friday, but look for primary catcher Bo Naylor to be back behind the plate on Saturday.

New York Yankees reliever Luke Weaver (hamstring) has received a PRP injection in his strained left hamstring. The 31-year-old is currently on the 15-day IL with the injury, but has also resumed his throwing program, so hopefully he's able to be on the short end of the original 4-6 week timeline that was provided. The righty had a phenomenal 2024 and has parlayed that success into 2025, posting a 1.05 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, and an 18.1 percent K-BB%, with eight saves through 25 2/3 IP (24 appearances). Devin Williams recorded the save for the Yankees on Friday, but did hit one batter in the appearance, and now has seven saves on the year. Weaver should continue to be stashed as he'll still hold value whether he's the official closer when he returns or not.

TorontoBlue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring) has resumed baseball activities, including hitting in the batting cages and playing catch at the team's facility in Dunedin, Florida. The activity does not include running, though. The 28-year-old is being evaluated on a week-to-week basis, and at this point, it would be a stretch to see him come off the IL when first eligible on June 11. The left-handed slugger was hitting just .208 before the injury and logged only 100 plate appearances thus far because of coming off the IL in late April as a result of a separate injury, but with his power upside, there's reason to stash the six-year pro. Varsho blasted eight home runs on the back of a 17.2 percent barrel rate beforesuffering the hamstring strain, and hit as many as 27 home runs back in 2022, along with double-digit steals in three straight seasons.

Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke suffered a left shoulder contusion in Friday's contest against the Mariners when he sprinted full speed into the wall while attempting to make a catch on a Jorge Mateo fly ball in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old made the catch but was replaced in the sixth inning. It was a violent collision with the wall, but he initially stayed in the game, so hopefully the injury is not serious. The former fourth-round draft pick was slow out of the gate when he was called up, going 1-for-19 (.053) over is first six games, but since then he's gone 9-for-27 (.333) with a double, a home run, three RBI, six runs scored, and three steals. Seth Brown replaced Clarke on Friday and could draw the start on Saturday. For now, consider Clarke day-to-day.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (elbow) is expected to make one more rehab start for Triple-A Tacoma before being activated from the 15-day injured list. The next start will come on Tuesday, so the timeline for his return lands sometime around June 16, when the Mariners will be facing the Red Sox in Seattle. The righty would likely take the spot of Emerson Hancock, who has pitched well as of late with a 2.91 ERA over his last four starts, or potentially Bryce Miller, who has been less effective, with a 5.36 ERA in nine starts. Gilbert made six starts before hitting the IL, posting a 2.37 ERA (1.71 xFIP), a 0.79 WHIP, and a 32.5 percent K-BB%. Fantasy managers will welcome him back with open arms after posting those kinds of numbers, although it will be tough to replicate those stats for the rest of the season.

Colorado Rockies shortstop prospect Ryan Ritter went 1-for-4 with a triple and a strikeout during his MLB debut on Friday evening against the New York Mets. Ritter got the start at shortstop and was batting in the six-hole. In the fifth inning, Ritter would tally his first hit in the majors, which was a triple off New York right-hander Kodai Senga. The Rockies promoted their No. 12-ranked prospect earlier on Friday in a corresponding move that placed Ezequiel Tover (oblique) on the injured list. Ritter opened the 2025 campaign by making his Triple-A debut and looked quite comfortable. Through his first 52 games at the top level of the minor leagues, the infielder held a .305/.413/.635 slash line with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and a 50:34 K:BB. With Tovar on the IL, Ritter should see close to an everyday role going forward and is worth adding in all standard leagues.

Chicago White Sox catching prospect Kyle Teel went 1-for-2 with two walks during his MLB debut on Friday evening. Teel was batting the six-hole and was behind the dish. Teel hit a single in the fourth inning off Kansas City right-hander Seth Lugo. Fantasy managers should expect both Teel and Edgar Quero to share catching duties in Chicago. Earlier this season, Teel was showing high power upside with Triple-A Charlotte. Through 50 contests, the No. 28-ranked prospect in baseball posted a .295/.394/.492 slash line with 10 doubles, eight home runs, and seven stolen bases. Since May 1 at Triple-A, Teel was one of the most productive hitters at the level, posting a stellar .341/.400/.600 slash with seven doubles and five round-trippers. Given his power potential, he is worth adding in all 12-team standard formats.

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Thomas White struck out eight batters across four shutout frames on Friday evening. White allowed just one hit and no walks to High-A Fort Wayne. White was dealing with a left index finger injury throughout most of May but appears to have returned to form after tallying just three punchouts in his previous start. Through 31 innings with High-A this season, the top-ranked prospect in the Miami system and No. 34-ranked in the sport has held a 2.90 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. During this stretch, the southpaw has struck out 48 batters and served up 17 free passes. During his first stint at High-A last season, White struck out 76 batters across 62 innings of work. White should earn a taste of Double-A later this summer and remains on track to reach the majors next season.

Boston Red Sox infield prospect Marcelo Mayer went 1-for-2 with a home run during their loss to the New York Yankees on Friday evening. Mayer hit his first MLB home run in the fifth inning off Yankee right-hander Will Warren. This was a solo shot. The Red Sox promoted their top infield prospect prior to their game on May 24. Through the first 10 games with Boston, the former fourth overall pick has posted a .206/.270/.353 line with two doubles and a home run. He has held a 10:3 K:BB and tallied two RBI. Earlier in the season, the No. 8-ranked prospect in baseball showed high potential during his first taste of Triple-A as he held a .271/.347/.471 slash line with five doubles, nine home runs, and two stolen bases. With Alex Bregman (quadriceps) on the IL, fantasy managers should expect Mayer to continue to see steady playing time.

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) went 2-for-5 with a home run during his contest against Double-A Palm Beach on Friday evening. Jenkins recently began his rehab assignment after dealing with an ankle injury for nearly two months. The top prospect in the Minnesota system began his rehab assignment with the Florida Complex League before moving up to Low-A. He joined Low-A Fort Myers on Thursday and launched a long ball in his second game at the level on Friday. Before suffering the injury, Jenkins made two starts with Double-A, where he went 1-for-8 with two strikeouts. When the 20-year-old is cleared to return, he will likely be sent to Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the No. 6-ranked prospect in the sport as he should reach Triple-A by the second half of the season.

New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga allowed five hits and one earned run over six innings of work in Friday's 4-2 win against the Colorado Rockies. He struck out six and walked two but did not factor into the decision. Senga was undoubtedly deserving of a win, and nearly got one, too, as the Mets scored two runs in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead. However, reliever Huascar Brazoban would yield one run to knot it up in the bottom half of the inning. The 32-year-old has been phenomenal in his 12 starts, yet to allow more than three earned runs in any appearance and one or fewer in eight of them. He'll carry a terrific 1.59 ERA and 1.18 WHIP into his next outing -- a meeting with the visiting Washington Nationals next week.

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with two RBI in his team's 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 31-year-old singled twice, scored twice, doubled, and stole base No. 17 of the campaign. Turner put the Phillies' first run of the game on the board in the top of the first when he reached on an infield single and was driven in a few batters later by Nick Castellanos after swiping third base. He'd double and score again two innings later before capping the three-hit effort with another single in the fourth that scored J.T. Realmuto and Edmundo Sosa. The fantasy stalwart is just two bags shy of matching his steal total from 2024 (19), and holds an excellent .306 average through 61 games.

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Zack Littell allowed six hits and one earned run in Friday's 4-3 win against the Miami Marlins. He struck out four and walked none over six innings for his ninth quality start of the season, improving to 6-5. Littell has been stellar, letting up three earned runs or fewer in ten straight starts and working less than six innings just once in that span. The 29-year-old doesn't miss many bats and is outperforming his expected stats quite a bit with a 4.56 xERA, significantly higher than the 3.68 ERA he holds after this start. Still, he out-pitched his metrics in 2024 and is worth riding while he's hot. He's won six of his last eight after losing his first five starts of the season. He'll square off against the Boston Red Sox on the road the next time he toes the rubber.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings in Friday's 5-0 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Tennessee native scattered eight hits (two doubles) and struck out five to pick up his fourth straight quality start -- firing 63 of 90 pitches for strikes to improve to 7-1. Since yielding seven runs to the Phillies in mid-May, Gray has been superb, registering zero earned runs in three of his last four starts. He's punched out ten batters twice over that span, and issued just two free passes (30:2 K:BB). The 35-year-old may be out-pitching his metrics a bit, but there's little reason to believe he can't mostly keep this up. He'll bring a strong 3.35 ERA and 1.13 WHIP (13 starts) into his next appearance, a matchup with the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.

Rafael Devers Snaps 12-Game HR DroughtBoston Red Sox designated hitter Rafael Devers broke a 12-game home run drought in the team's 9-6 loss to the New York Yankees on Friday. Devers' two-run homer in the seventh inning against left-hander Brent Headrick traveled 419 feet and was his only hit of the game. He finished the evening 1-for-4 with a walk and an additional run scored. The HR, Devers' 13th of the season, was his first since May 23. Although his numbers dropped during that dry spell, the 28-year-old is still enjoying another tremendous offensive season with a .284/.407/.514 line, 56 RBI, and a career-high 17.2% walk rate in 297 trips to the plate. He'll face Yankees lefty Ryan Yarbrough on Saturday. Devers is 6-for-27 with two extra-base hits (HR, double), seven strikeouts, and three walks against Yarbrough.

Miami Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards had an early exit in the team's 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Home-plate umpire Chad Fairchild ejected Edwards in the third inning after an argument over a runner interference call. Edwards was ruled out after colliding with Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda while trying to beat out a bunt single. He ended the day 0-for-2, and Miami replaced him at the keystone with Javier Sanoja. Fantasy managers should expect Edwards back in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against Rays righty Taj Bradley. The speedy Edwards is hitting a disappointing .280/.349/.312 with 11 steals in 212 plate appearances this season, though he has gone 7-of-14 in June.

Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler (4-4) took his fourth loss of the season in a 9-6 decision against the New York Yankees on Friday. Buehler lasted just two innings and allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits, including two homers, with two strikeouts and two walks. The outing continued a rough start to the season for Buehler, a former Dodger who joined the Red Sox on a one-year, $21 million deal in free agency. The 31-year-old has pitched to a bloated 5.18 ERA (5.30 FIP) with 44 strikeouts, 17 walks, and a career-worst HR/fly ball percentage of 19.6 over 48 2/3 innings with his new team. Buehler, who has totaled a mere three quality starts in 10 tries, will attempt to right the ship against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. He held the Rays to two runs in five frames in an April 15 win.

Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia homered for the second straight game Friday in the team's 7-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox. Garcia's 408-foot solo blast against right-hander Davis Martin was his lone hit in a 1-for-4 night. With seven home runs in 62 contests this season, the 25-year-old has already matched his 2024 total in 95 fewer games. This is continuing to look like a breakout year for Garcia, who's slashing .310/.373/.487 with 30 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and a 9.1% walk rate in 253 plate appearances. He'll face off against White Sox righty Adrian Houser on Saturday.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert had a big Friday night in the team's 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. His two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 2-2 tie, and the White Sox never looked back. It was the high point of a 2-for-3, three-RBI performance for Robert, who was stuck in a 1-for-20 slump entering the game and hadn't played since Monday. The White Sox gave Robert off Tuesday and Wednesday for a mental break, and then he missed Thursday's game after a ball ricocheted and hit him in the head during batting practice. An All-Star just two years ago, Robert's numbers have dropped off the table since then. He's off to a horrid start this year with a .185/.275/.292 line and five HRs in 225 plate appearances. To his credit, Robert has raised his walk percentage to 11.1 - by far a career high - and has already stolen 21 bases.
