The New York Mets are considering a few possibilities with struggling right-hander Kodai Senga, including potentially asking him to accept an optional minor-league assignment, according to people familiar with the team's thinking. However, Senga may not be sent to the minors without his consent, according to his contract. The 32-year-old said on Tuesday that he's willing to do whatever it takes for him to get better and help the team. Another option would be for the Mets to send Senga to the bullpen to try and get him right for the playoffs. He was the runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year and was an All-Star in 2023. Senga had a 1.39 ERA through his first 14 outings this year, but he's posted a 6.56 ERA in 35 2/3 innings since, and the Mets have plenty of rotation options right now, especially with rookies Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong looking good.

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Arias was also expected to return on Tuesday, but instead he was held out as a precaution and was available off the bench. The 25-year-old was hit by a 94.7 mph sinker in the second inning on Aug. 29 and exited immediately, although X-rays came back negative. Arias has not started a game since, but he should be back in there on Wednesday at the 6 for Cleveland. Light-hitting Brayan Rocchio has shifted over to shortstop for the Guards since Arias' injury. Arias isn't much of an offensive force himself and is only valuable in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues as middle-infield depth. He is hitting a paltry .222 (78-for-351) on the year with nine homers, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals.

Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia (quadriceps) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday for the series finale against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Rookie Alejandro Osuna will draw another start in right field for Texas and will hit seventh against Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen. Garcia will miss a second straight game after suffering a Grade 2 strain to his right quadriceps muscle in Monday's series opener in the desert. It's a day-to-day situation for now, but fantasy managers should not be surprised if Garcia eventually lands on the 10-day injured list. The Rangers are optimistic for now that Garcia will avoid an IL stint, but his absence is likely to extend into this weekend. Osuna will be playing in just his 43rd big-leagu game on Wednesday and has gone 16-for-90 (.178) with just one home run, eight RBI and three steals to begin his MLB career in 2025.

Miami Marlins outfielder Derek Hill (hamstring) will go on the injured list after suffering a right-hamstring strain while running out a grounder against the Washington Nationals on Monday, and he's not expected to return until next year, according to MLB.com. The Marlins figure to officially place Hill on the IL before their series opener on Friday against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. The 29-year-old outfielder will end his sixth year in the big leagues (first full season with Miami) with a weak .213/.275/.331 slash line, .606 OPS, three home runs, 10 RBI, 19 runs scored and a career-high seven stolen bases in just 53 games played for the Fish. Hill now has a career slash line of .228/.276/.348 with 14 hom runs, 53 RBI and 23 stolen bases in his six MLB seasons with five different teams. The journeyman outfielder won't be on the fantasy radar in 2026.

There is a "high probability" that the Boston Red Sox place rookie outfielder Roman Anthony (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, a source told Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. Infielder Nick Sogard is expected to take Anthony's place on the active MLB roster after an MRI exam showed a left-oblique injury. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter injured himelf on a strikout in Tuesday's game at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Guardians and now appears set to miss time. He will be eligible to return on Sept. 13, but given the nature of his injury, it's likely he'll need more time. Wilyer Abreu (calf) is still on the IL himself, so Rob Refsnyder and Masataka Yoshida will likely platoon in the third outfield spot for Boston until Abreu is able to return. It's also possible that Boston uses Kristian Campbell in the outfield. Anthony needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Miami Marlins right-hander Janson Junk (elbow) was sharp in his first rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday. Junk threw five innings of one-run, three-hit ball with eight strikeouts and no walks over 61 pitches (45 strikes). That may end up as the lone rehab start for Junk, who has recovered well since he went on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Aug. 24 with ulnar-nerve irritation. He's eligible to return Sept. 8. The 29-year-old control artist has made 17 appearances (12 starts) in the majors this season and gone 6-2 with a 4.09 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, 61 strikeouts, and a paltry 10 walks over 88 innings.

The Detroit Tigers have placed right-hander Chris Paddack (personal) on the bereavement list and recalled righty Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo. By MLB rules, Paddack could miss anywhere from three to seven days. The Tigers acquired the 29-year-old from the division-rival Minnesota Twins on July 28, but the move hasn't worked out so far. Paddack has pitched to a 6.38 ERA over 24 innings as a Tiger. Detroit demoted Paddack to its bullpen before his most recent appearance on Sept. 2, when he surrendered six runs in 1 1/3 innings against the New York Mets. Between the Tigers and Twins, Paddack has amassed 142 1/3 frames and gone 5-11 with a 5.37 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, 98 strikeouts, and 32 walks.

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (oblique) is set to begin baseball activities on Wednesday. The breakout star has been shelved since Aug. 17 with a Grade 1 strain of his left oblique, but he's on track to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. If all goes well, he should rejoin the Marlins sometime next week. The injury put an early end to the worst month of the season for Stowers, who hit .228/.308/.386 with two home runs over 15 games in August. The 27-year-old has thrived overall, having slashed .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 457 plate appearances.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder/first baseman Alec Burleson (wrist) is recovering well after receiving a pain-killing injection in his injured right wrist. Burleson, who said he feels "drastically different" since the injection, could take batting practice soon, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The 26-year-old may even be able to return from the 10-day injured list next week without a minor-league rehab assignment. Burleson, out since Aug. 29, only mustered a .713 OPS in 24 games last month, but he has put up respectable numbers in 2025. He owns a .286/.337/.451 line with 16 homers, 60 RBI, 47 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 472 trips to the plate.

New York Mets right-hander Tylor Megill (elbow) made his fourth rehab start on Tuesday and struggled in a 4-3 loss for Triple-A Syracuse. Megill lasted four innings and surrendered three earned runs on six hits and two walks. On the positive side, Megill struck out five hitters and was able to throw 79 pitches. It's unclear if Megill, who's building back up as a starter, will need another rehab outing before potentially rejoining the Mets' rotation. The 30-year-old has missed almost three months of action after going on the 60-day injured list with a sprained elbow on June 17. Before landing on the shelf, Megill went 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 89:33 K:BB across 14 starts and 68 1/3 innings.

Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young (back) is not in the lineup on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins. Young went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in a 5-2 win over the Marlins on Tuesday, but he had to leave early with back spasms. The Nationals are idle on Thursday, so Young will get an extra day off to recover. The 26-year-old has played in 105 games this season and hit .235/.303/.387 with one homer, 26 RBI, 31 runs, and 14 steals in 326 plate appearances. Robert Hassell III will take Young's place in center field on Wednesday and bat seventh against right-hander Eury Perez.

Cleveland Guardians left-hander John Means (elbow) will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, followed by a rehab start for Triple-A Columbus on Friday, MLB.com reports. Friday's outing will be the fifth rehab start for Means, who threw four innings and 58 pitches in his previous outing on Sunday. His pitch count will bump up to 75 on Friday, after which the left-hander could rejoin Cleveland's rotation. At this time, it's unclear how Means will fit into the rotation for the Guardians, but based on his 73 career starts and 3.68 career ERA, it's fair to think he will get a spot in the rotation. Means is recovering from a left elbow UCL injury and has not been healthy since 2021, throwing only 52 1/3 innings over the past three seasons. With the Guardians currently four games back in the AL Wild Card Race, any help they can get will be accepted. Regarding fantasy value, Means is not a recommended add at this time due to his uncertainty and time missed over the last three seasons.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (foot) went 0-for-3 on Tuesday in Double-A Akron with the RubberDucks in his first rehab game back since injuring his foot and being placed on the injured list on July 6. Thomas was diagnosed with right foot plantar fasciitis and has missed a good portion of the season, so, understandably, he got off to a slow start. He started at designated hitter on Tuesday, and he will likely start in the outfield on Wednesday. At this time, the Guardians are four games back in the AL Wild Card Race, so they hope to get Thomas back on the team to try and help with their playoff push. Although the 30-year-old has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .160/.246/.272 in 125 at-bats, he owns a career .242/.309/.418 slash line in seven MLB seasons. He also brings a good arm and speed to the outfield.

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls (groin) will see a specialist, Dr. William Meyers, on September 3. He had started running and doing some strengthening exercises previously, but is still experiencing "mild discomfort" in his back and left groin, MLB.com reports. Walls was placed on the injured list on August 12 with a groin injury, and it appears that he will now seek additional help to understand why he has not yet recovered after some time off. The Rays are currently three and a half games back in the AL Wild Card race and are looking to get to full strength if possible. Walls has improved his defensive play in 2025 based on OAA (Outs Above Average); however, from an offensive and fantasy standpoint, he has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .220/.280/.319, and should remain on the waiver wire in redraft formats.

Boston Red Sox young superstar Roman Anthony (oblique) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with left oblique tightness, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. He is set to undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Anthony said he initially felt tightness on a check swing during the same at-bat before striking out in the fourth inning, and he proceeded not to take the field in the fifth. "He's sore," manager Alex Cora said. When asked about his concern level, Anthony replied, "I'm not really sure. I'll see tomorrow, after the MRI." At this time, Anthony should be considered day-to-day, and fantasy managers will want to keep their eyes open for the MRI results. Timing couldn't be worse for fantasy managers with the fantasy playoffs going on, and the Red Sox, as they are in a tight AL East and AL Wild Card race. Nate Eaton entered the game for Anthony and could see additional playing time should he miss any extra time.

New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Nolan McLean picked up his fourth straight win in his fourth career start on Tuesday as the Mets defeated the Detroit Tigers 12-5. The right-hander was outstanding once again, going six innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, three walks, and striking out seven batters. McLean has been dominant since his promotion from Triple-A back in mid-August, and is proving to be a league winner for fantasy managers down the stretch. Through four MLB starts, he owns an excellent 1.37 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and a 28/7 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings pitched. He remains a must-start pitcher in all formats down the stretch.

White Sox's LF Andrew Benintendi had five RBIs going 4-for-5 with two home runs in a 12-3 win over Minnesota on Tuesday, Sep. 2.

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher JoJo Romero picked up his sixth save of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Athletics. Romero came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The 28-year-old has been in the mix for save opportunities since the team traded away Ryan Helsley and he has pitched well, converting all three of his opportunities without allowing a run in the last 15 days. He has now converted all but one of his save opportunities this season with a 2.13 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and an 8.17 K/9 rate in 50 2/3 innings of work. He is worth a look in at least deep roto leagues at this time for fantasy managers still in need of saves.

It wasn't pretty, but Chicago Cubs closer Daniel Palencia earned his 22nd save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Braves. Palencia came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a strikeout, allowed a single, got the second out on a fly-out, allowed another single, and left the tying run stranded on third with a fly-out. The 25-year-old hasn't been the most consistent lately, but he has put together a solid season overall. He has converted 22 of 24 save opportunities with a 2.16 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and a 10.26 K/9 rate in 50 innings of work. Palencia should continue to provide plenty of fantasy value for the rest of the season as the Cubs push towards the playoffs.
