Bowden Francis Mon Jun 23 6:40pm CT

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Bowden Francis (shoulder) received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder last week and was shut down from throwing through the weekend, according to MLB.com. Francis landed on the 15-day injured list last Tuesday with a right-shoulder impingement and is unlikely to return until after the mid-July All-Star break since he has yet to resume throwing. When the 29-year-old does return from the IL, he will be far from a lock to regain a starting-rotation role after going 2-8 with a 6.05 ERA (6.79 FIP) and 1.53 WHIP with 54 strikeouts and 27 walks in 64 innings over his 14 starts. Francis was pretty nasty late last year after adding a splitter to his arsenal, but it appears the rest of the league has figured him out somewhat through the first half in 2025.

Yimi Garcia Mon Jun 23 6:20pm CT

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia (shoulder) is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment and pitch in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday, according to MLB.com. Garcia went on the 15-day injured list on May 24 with a right-shoulder impingement, but he's getting close to returning to Toronto's bullpen and could be back in the big leagues by late June. If Garcia is able to avoid setbacks with his shoulder this week, he could come off the IL by later this week or this weekend. When he's back in the big leagues, the 34-year-old Dominican reliever should be a key late-inning, high-leverage bullpen arm for the Jays while also seeing an occasional save chance. Before getting hurt, Garcia had a 3.15 ERA (2.97 FIP), a 1.05 WHIP, three saves, 24 strikeouts and 10 walks in 20 innings pitched. He's definitely valuable in holds leagues when healthy.

Shota Imanaga Mon Jun 23 6:10pm CT

Chicago Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga (hamstring) will come off the 15-day injured list and start on Thursday in the series finale against the division-rival Cardinals in St. Louis, according to manager Craig Counsell. Imanaga should be rostered in all fantasy leagues, but managers may want to play it safe and keep him on their benches in his first start back this week at Busch Stadium. The 31-year-old Japanese southpaw threw only 72 pitches over 4 1/3 innings in his final minor-league rehab start and hasn't pitched in a major-league game since straining his left hamstring back in early May. Imanaga was an All-Star in his rookie campaign in 2024 and had gone 3-2 with a 2.82 ERA (4.53 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with 34 strikeouts and 14 walks in 44 2/3 innings over his eight starts this year before landing on the IL.

Matthew Boyd Mon Jun 23 6:10pm CT

Chicago Cubs left-hander Matthew Boyd (shoulder) is "all good" to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals after coming out of his last start with a bruised left shoulder, according to manager Craig Counsell. Boyd didn't have any issues during his between-starts bullpen session. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw was hit by a comebacker in his last start against the Seattle Mariners last Friday and allowed two earned runs while walking two and striking out six in five innings in a no-decision. Boyd has been a key rotation piece for the Cubbies so far in 2025 with a 6-3 record, 2.84 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB in 85 2/3 frames over his 15 starts. However, a 3.55 xERA and 3.65 FIP point to regression coming for the aging lefty that is only striking out 8.3 hitters per nine innings.

Chris Sale Mon Jun 23 5:50pm CT

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale (ribs) is expected to pitch again this season, according to manager Brian Snitker. Sale was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday after suffering a ribcage fracture on Wednesday. There is no timetable for Sale's return as the team wants to wait and see how the injury heals. This is a tough spot for fantasy managers given the uncertainty of his return. Sale figures to miss more than the 15-day minimum. Fantasy managers should go ahead and hold Sale on their IL until the team offers more information.

Michael McGreevy Mon Jun 23 5:40pm CT

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Michael McGreevy will be called up to take the ball versus the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, according to manager Oliver Marmol. McGreevy has earned himself an extended look after tossing five innings, allowing one earned run, and striking out five batters in a start against the Chicago White Sox. This is going to be a much more difficult matchup for McGreevy against a tough Cubs lineup. He has a 2.70 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 15/2 K/BB ratio across three starts this season. Despite recent success, McGreevy remains a risky streaming choice against the Cubs.

Kyren Paris Mon Jun 23 5:30pm CT

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kyren Paris was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. He'll take the spot of Kevin Newman who was placed on the paternity leave list. That means, Paris will take over the spot on the roster for a few days while Newmani is gone on paternity leave. Paris got off to an electric start to the season, but was optioned to the minors last month after a long slump. He's not in Monday's lineup, but will hopefully get in some action before Newman returns. Paris isn't someone that needs to be rostered with this likely being a short stint.

Michael Busch Mon Jun 23 5:30pm CT

Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Busch only has four hits against left-handed pitching this season, so unsurprisingly he'll head to the bench. He's coming off a solid series against the Seattle Mariners where he recorded five hits, one home run, and five RBI over the three-game series. In his absence, Justin Turner will take over at first base and bat eighth versus left-hander Matthew Liberatore.

    From RotoBaller

Rhys Hoskins Mon Jun 23 5:20pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This appears to be a routine rest day for Hoskins who has started the previous 14 games. Hoskins hasn't been a great fantasy option this season, but he has been hitting the ball better lately. He has five hits, two doubles, two home runs, and three RBI over his last four games. Hoskins is someone that should be at least rostered in deep leagues. In his absence, Jake Bauers will cover first base and bat eighth versus right-hander Braxton Ashcraft on Monday.

    From RotoBaller

    Logan O'Hoppe Mon Jun 23 5:20pm CT

Los Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox. This is a routine rest day for O'Hoppe who has started each of the last two games. It's a bit surprising to see him resting after hitting three home runs and knocking in six runs over his last two games. The Angels should ride the hot bat while he's swinging it. The assumption is O'Hoppe will be back in the lineup following this contest. In the meantime, Travis d'Arnaud will cover behind the plate and bat fifth versus right-hander Walker Buehler on Monday.

Daulton Varsho Mon Jun 23 4:40pm CT

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring) ran the bases late last week and is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment this week, according to MLB.com. Varsho went on the 10-day injured list on June 1 with a strained left hamstring, but barring a setback once he resumes playing in games, he could return to the Blue Jays' lineup by late June or early July. The 28-year-old center fielder resumed baseball activities on June 6. If he starts his rehab assignment early this week, he could rejoin the big-league roster by the weekend. When healthy, Varsho is Toronto's starting center fielder. He got a late start in 2025 while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, and although he's hit just .207 in 92 at-bats this year, he has also clubbed eight home runs and is a nice source of power for fantasy managers in mixed leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Corbin Carroll Mon Jun 23 4:30pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) continues to sit out of the lineup for Monday's series opener in Chicago against the White Sox. Randal Grichuk is making another start in right field and will hit seventh against White Sox right-hander Shane Smith. Carroll is missing his fifth straight game on Monday with a bruised left hand. The 24-year-old is undergoing an MRI exam and could end up landing on the 10-day injured list if he cannot return to the field sooner than later. If he does land on the IL, fantasy managers should keep him stashed in all leagues as one of the best all-around contributors in the game. The former first-rounder is currently slashing .255/.341/.573 with a .914 OPS, 20 long balls, 44 RBI, 57 runs and 10 steals in 2025. Grichuk has actually fared better against righties on the year but still makes for a low-upside DFS streamer with only three homers on the year.

    From RotoBaller

Cade Povich Mon Jun 23 4:20pm CT

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Cade Povich (hip) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment soon, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. It's good news after Povich landed on the 15-day injured list just a week ago with inflammation in his left hip. If the 25-year-old southpaw doesn't suffer a setback with his hip, he'll have a good shot at returning to the big-league roster when he's eligible on July 1. Povich is in his second major-league season and went 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA (4.09 FIP) and 1.50 WHIP with 68 strikeouts and 23 walks in 64 2/3 innings pitched over 13 outings (12 starts) before his hip injury. The former third-rounder doesn't have overpowering stuff and also struggled in his MLB debut a year ago with a 5.20 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 69:34 K:BB, but he has shown some improvement in his strikeout rate this year.

Allan Winans Mon Jun 23 4:20pm CT

The New York Yankees announced on Monday that they recalled right-hander Allan Winans from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Winans will make a spot start for left-hander Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) and start in Monday's series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. It will be the 29-year-old's first big-league start of the year and just his ninth total MLB start after debuting with the Atlanta Braves in the majors in 2023. The former 17th-round pick in 2018 out of Campbell went 7-0 with a stingy 0.90 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 13 walks in 50 innings over 11 appearances (nine starts) for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before his call-up. The Reds offense is around middle of the pack this year in MLB in OPS. Winans has a 7.20 career ERA at the major-league level with a 1.57 WHIP and 38 K's in 40 innings over his eight starts.

Jordan Westburg Mon Jun 23 4:10pm CT

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (finger) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Texas Rangers at Camden Yards. Ramon Urias will start at the hot corner and will bat fifth against Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin. Westburg suffered a sprained left index finger on Saturday and was still sore and unable to fully grip a bat on Sunday, so he'll be missing his second straight game to begin the new week. According to interim manager Tony Mansolino, the team is hopeful that the 26-year-old can return to the lineup in the next two to three days. After a breakout season in 2024 in which he was a first-time All-Star, it's been a disappointing season in 2025 due to injuries. Westburg does have seven homers in 34 games, but he's hitting just .229 (30-for-131). Urias has hit .333 with two RBI in a small sample size of six career at-bats against Corbin.

Corey Seager Mon Jun 23 3:30pm CT

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will take a seat on Monday with a left-hander on the mound against the hosting Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Ezequiel Duran will make the start at the 6 and will hit ninth against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers. Seager has not fared well against lefties this year, going 4-for-24 (.167) against them with just one of his eight home runs and six strikeouts. The 31-year-old two-time World Series MVP has also slumped in June, batting .143/.313/.222 with a homer, two doubles, four RBI, five runs scored and 18 strikeouts in 18 games played. Duran offers very little fantasy appeal for DFS managers on Monday. The 26-year-old Dominican has gone just 8-for-53 (.151) on the season with no home runs and two RBI. He's unlikely to make an impact at the bottom of Texas' batting order.

Jeimer Candelario Mon Jun 23 3:20pm CT

The Cincinnati Red announced on Monday that they activated corner infielder Jeimer Candelario (back) from the 10-day injured list and designated him for assignment. Candelario has been on the IL since April 30 with a lumbar spine strain, but the 31-year-old veteran switch-hitter won't return to Cincy's big-league roster at this time and could become a free agent if he clears waivers. Before his back injury, he was hitting a lowly .113 with a strikeout rate over 30%, two home runs and 10 RBI in 91 trips to the plate for the Reds. During a 15-game sample during his minor-league rehab assignment, Candelario hit .211/.318/.333 on the farm. The Reds are apparently comfortable splitting playing time at third base between Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Santiago Espinal moving forward. Candelario's best path to fantasy value again is probably via a change of scenery.

Ryan Mountcastle Mon Jun 23 3:20pm CT

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Monday that they transferred infielder Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list. The team also placed catcher Maverick Handley (head) on the seven-day concussion injured list and selected the contract of catcher Chadwick Tromp from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. The move to put Mountcastle on the 60-day IL was probably inevitable after he was given an eight- to 12-week timetable following a Grade 2 right-hamstring strain on May 30. The 28-year-old will not be ready to rejoin the Orioles lineup until sometime in the second half of the season. Until then, Ryan O'Hearn will continue to serve in the strong side of a platoon at first base in Baltimore with Coby Mayo also filling in. Mountcastle was hitting .246 with only two home runs and 15 RBI in 187 at-bats at the time of his injury.

Justin Verlander Mon Jun 23 3:10pm CT

The San Francisco Giants reinstated right-hander Justin Verlander from the paternity list on Monday, according to San Francisco Chronicle's Shayna Rubin. Verlander was away from the team over the weekend with the team facing the Boston Red Sox, but he didn't miss a turn through the starting rotation. His next outing will come on Tuesday in an excellent fantasy matchup against the Miami Marlins. Verlander missed a month of action with a pectoral injury and returned to face the Cleveland Guardians last week to allow four runs (three earned) on seven hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out six in 4 2/3 innings for his fourth loss of the season. The future Hall of Famer has yet to win a game in his first year in San Fran and is sporting a 4.45 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 47:22 K:BB in 56 2/3 innings over 11 starts. There's a good chance he'll pick up his first win of the year against the Fish.

    From RotoBaller

Tyler Fitzgerald Mon Jun 23 3:10pm CT

The San Francisco Giants optioned middle infielder Tyler Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Shayna Rubin. Fitzgerald has found it harder to hit in 2025, slashing .230/.289/.320 with two home runs, 10 RBI, 17 runs and nine stolen bases in 57 games while also striking out 53 times in 200 plate appearances. He had gone hitless in his last six games with an RBI and four strikeouts in 14 trips to the plate. The 27-year-old has also hit just .127 (7-for-55) with three RBI, two steals, two runs, four walks and 19 strikeouts in 20 games in the month of June. As a result, Fitzgerald was seeing more time on the bench, so he'll now head to Sacrament to try and make some adjustments. At least until Matt Chapman (hand) returns from the injured list, the Giants will likely use a combination of Brett Wisely and Christian Koss at the keystone.
