The Texas Rangers have placed infielder Jake Burger (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. In a corresponding move, the Rangers promoted infielder Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock. Burger was lifted from Friday's game due to tightness in his side. However, it has been revealed that Burger suffered an oblique strain, which could keep him out of action for a few weeks. Since returning to the majors after his demotion, Burger has begun to find his footing, posting a .243/.260/.456 slash line with eight doubles, seven home runs, 17 RBI, and one stolen base. During his first 30 games of the season, Burger held a .561 OPS. While he remains out of action, fantasy managers should expect Josh Smith to see most of the time at first base. Foscue could earn opportunities, but will likely have a role on the bench.

Boston Red Sox catcher Carlos Narvaez will take a seat on Saturday when the Red Sox continue a series against the San Francisco Giants. The backstop was given the starting nod during Friday's series opener but went 0-for-5 at the plate with three strikeouts. He will cede catching duties this afternoon to Connor Wong. Fantasy managers should expect Narvaez to return to action on Sunday. Narvaez has enjoyed an impressive campaign through the first half, holding a .270/.356/.439 line with six home runs and a stolen base. During this stretch, he has generated a 12.1% barrel rate and a 44.7% hard-hit rate. He also sits in the 98th percentile in Blocks Above Average. Wong is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as he enters this game holding a low .154 AVG.

New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea (oblique) struck out seven batters during his rehab appearance on Friday evening. In this outing, the left-hander was deployed as a bulk reliever behind right-hander Brandon Sproat. Manaea was able to log 5 1/3 innings of work. During this game, Manaea struck out seven batters while allowing just two hits and one run. He did not allow a free pass. This was a strong outing as the left-hander has spent the previous three outings of his rehab assignment with High-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears he will need to make at least one more appearance with Triple-A Syracuse. However, Manaea appears to have found his footing and is worth adding in all leagues before he is activated from the IL in early July.

The Baltimore Orioles have placed catcher Adley Rutschman (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain. In a corresponding move, the Orioles promoted 27-year-old backstop Maverick Handley from Triple-A Norfolk. Rutschman was held out of action on Friday and was not slated to be in Saturday's starting lineup as well due to this injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as it is unclear when the catcher sustained this injury. Since June 3, the 27-year-old has begun to find his footing in the batter's box, posting a .309/.381/.509 slash line with two doubles, three home runs, five RBI, and an 8:7 K:BB. However, prior to this surge, Rutschman held a .203 AVG with a .632 OPS. While he remains sidelined, Gary Sanchez should handle the majority of the catching duties.

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Tanner Scott picked up his 15th save of the season in his team's 6-5 win over the Washington Nationals. However, Scott allowed a solo home run to Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams. Homers have been a persistent issue for Scott this season, as his 1.29 HR/9 allowed represents his highest mark since 2019. That's been the main driver of his 3.79 ERA, as his 0.95 WHIP and 26.5% K-BB% suggest he should receive better luck in terms of runs allowed going forward. Scott has seemingly settled in as the Dodgers' primary closer. He's recorded saves in five out of his last seven appearances and should continue to see consistent opportunities to close games.

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman/designated hitter Yandy Diaz helped power his team in Friday's 14-8 win over the Detroit Tigers. He went 3-for-5 with two home runs and two RBI. Daz has been a somewhat surprising source of power so far this season, as he's already recorded 12 homers after hitting just 14 in 145 games in 2024. Daz has also been useful in batting average (.277) and RBI (44). The Rays lead MLB in runs scored in June, and Daz has been a huge contributor, batting .400 this month. He's a solid starting option at first base or corner infield in all formats.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique/shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during his rehab outing on Friday evening. Mitchell suffered this injury while diving toward first base. Mitchell has been sidelined with an oblique strain he suffered in April. However, this shoulder injury occurred on his left arm, which was surgically repaired due to a torn labrum during the 2023 campaign. Mitchell underwent early imaging, but the results were inconclusive. For the time being, the former top prospect is being taken off his rehab assignment. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Mitchell could face another lengthy absence. During the first 25 games of the regular season, Mitchell held a .206/.286/.294 line with three stolen bases. He is only worth stashing in deeper NL-only leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte had a monster game on Friday, recording a home run, two doubles, five RBI, and an additional run scored in the team's 14-8 win over the Colorado Rockies. Marte has been mashing when healthy this season, hitting .296 with 13 home runs and 41 runs scored in just 49 games. He's also recorded more walks (30) than strikeouts (29) while hitting at or near the top of a Diamondbacks' lineup that ranks third in MLB in runs scored. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Marte as he's a high-end second base option in all fantasy formats.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) remains out of the starting nine on Saturday when the White Sox continue a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Tauchman was held out of action on Friday as well. The outfielder suffered this injury during Thursday's game. Before his injury, Tauchman held a modest .192/.242/323 line with a double, home run, and a 10:2 K:BB over his last nine games. This afternoon, the White Sox will give Austin Slater the starting nod. Slater will cover right field and will bat in the eight-hole. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Tauchman as he may need a stint on the injured list if this injury continues to linger. The White Sox are worth a look in DFS facing Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios, who holds a 3.81 ERA.

Chicago Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga (hamstring) will come off the 15-day injured list and make a start with the big-league club next week against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, according to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine. The 31-year-old Japanese southpaw hasn't pitched for the Cubs since May 4 when he suffered a strained hamstring against the Milwaukee Brewers. He made three minor-league rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and Triple-A Iowa and threw 10 1/3 scoreless innings with 16 strikeouts and two walks, although two of those outings were in the ACL. While Imanaga will be a little more shaky as a starting fantasy option in his first start back against the Cardinals, he should absolutely be rostered in all fantasy formats. He went 3-2 with a 2.82 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in eight starts earlier this year before tweaking his hammy.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) is expected to throw a side session on Sunday. He was initially expected to complete this session on Saturday. However, it appears he has not faced a setback as he remains in play to potentially return next week when the Blue Jays open a series against the Cleveland Guardians. Scherzer has been held out of action since making his Toronto debut with a thumb injury. The right-hander began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo earlier in June. In his most recent outing, the right-hander logged 4 1/3 shutout innings with one hit, two walks, and eight strikeouts. When Scherzer returns, he will likely replace Eric Lauer or Spencer Turnbull in the starting rotation. He is worth a look as a depth starting pitcher in all standard leagues, given his strikeout upside.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/infielder Addison Barger (hip) was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Chicago White Sox due to right-hip discomfort, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. With Barger now out of the lineup, Nathan Lukes will start in right field and bat out of the two-hole against White Sox right-hander Aaron Civale. Until we know more about Barger's injury, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The 25-year-old has been solid offensively for the Blue Jays in June, hitting .276 (16-for-58) with four home runs, five doubles, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored in 16 games. If he's forced to miss additional time or go on the injured list, Davis Schneider would benefit from more playing time in a corner-outfield spot in Toronto. Barger is slashing .270/.332/.500 on the year with an .832 OPS, eight homers, 24 RBI and 25 runs scored in 174 at-bats.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio had a huge game Friday night, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base in his team's 17-6 win over the Minnesota Twins. Chourio has been surging this month after a slow May at the plate. He's now hitting .296 in June with three homers and 11 RBI. Chourio's overall line is rock solid, as he's batting .264 with 12 homers, 15 steals, 49 runs, and 45 RBI. His meager 3.9% walk rate and .294 on-base percentage hold down his value in OBP leagues, but he should continue to provide five-category value as a high-end outfield option in traditional roto formats.
From RotoBaller
New York Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will start Saturday's game on the bench at Yankee Stadium against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles. Ben Rice is starting at first base and will bat leadoff against Orioles right-hander Zach Eflin. Not only is Goldschmidt now in more danger of being given more days off with Giancarlo Stanton back in the fold, but he's gone 2-for-18 at the plate in his last five games to drop his average under .300 on the season through 275 at-bats. The 37-year-old veteran and former MVP got off to a hot start in his first year in pinstripes, but regression has hit and his decline in power continues with only eight long balls on the year. Rice, meanwhile, is hitting just .228 but has an xBA of .293 and 12 home runs for the Yankees in what has become a breakout season. He's hitless in five career at-bats against Eflin, but eight of his 12 homers in 2025 have come against righties.

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman (abdomen) had an MRI exam on Saturday morning, and the team will see if he needs a trip to the injured list, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. With Rutschman banged up, Maverick Handley is on the team's taxi squad. Mansolino said the team hasn't discussed catching prospect Samuel Basallo as a potential option if Rutschman misses additional time. Rutschman is out of the starting lineup in the Bronx on Sunday against the division-rival New York Yankees and could miss additional time after being scratched from Friday's series opener with abdominal tightness. Gary Sanchez is behind the plate on Saturday and is hitting seventh versus Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Basallo is considered Baltimore's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the No. 2 catching prospect in all of baseball.
From RotoBaller
New York Yankees right-hander Luis Gil (lat) is facing hitters on Saturday at Yankee Stadium before the game against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles for the first time since his lat injury in late February during spring training. MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that Gil's velocity is believed to be in the mid-90s. The 27-year-old is recovering from a right-lat strain that has kept him out for all of the 2025 season so far. He's making progress, but Gil isn't expected to return from the injured list to make his season debut until after the mid-July All-Star break. Gil will need to go on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment first. The Dominican hurler was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2024 after going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 171 walks in 151 2/3 innings over 29 starts, but he also walked a league-high 77 batters.

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was scratched from the team's lineup on Friday against the Yankees due to what's being described as abdominal tightness. Interim manager Tony Mansolino stated that the issue "flared up" during batting practice, and that Rutschman will be examined with more information to come on Saturday. For now, consider the 27-year-old day-to-day. If it is anything more than a minor injury, it would be very unfortunate timing, as after a poor start to the season, the switch-hitter had begun to turn things around in June. The 6-foot-2 slugger was hitting .309 with five extra-base hits (two doubles, three home runs) and a 7:8 BB:K through 15 games this month. The hot stretch had only pulled his season-long slash line to .227/.319/.372.

San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (concussion) played catch on the field prior to Friday's matchup with the Royals. The 22-year-old was placed on the 7-day injured list on Sunday after getting hit in the head with a hard tag on a stolen base attempt. It's not clear if he'll be ready to return once eligible, but the Padres and fantasy managers alike will welcome him back with open arms. Despite missing time earlier this year due to a hamstringinjury, the former first-rounder has been highly productive when on the field, registering a .304/.349/.474 slash line with five home runs, a .355 wOBA, and a 131 wRC+ through 44 games played.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Justin Verlander was placed on the paternity list on Friday. The 42-year-old is still expected to make his next start, which will be on Tuesday at home against Miami. The 3x Cy Young award winner already missed a month earlier this season with a pectoral injury, making 11 starts thus far, going 0-4 with a 4.45 ERA (4.70 FIP), 1.43 WHIP, and a 10.1 percent K-BB% across 56 2/3 IP. While a matchup with the Marlins sounds easy, the team is just outside the top 10 in terms of fewest strikeouts per game and team batting average, so this could be a tough test for the aging hurler. Infielder Brett Wisely was recalled from Triple-A to take Verlander's place while on leave.
From RotoBaller
Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews (oblique) took some "light, dry swings" on Thursday, per manager Dave Martinez. It is the first reported baseball activity since the 23-year-old hit the injured list with a strained oblique back on May 21. No definitive timeline has been provided, but it's looking like the former second-overall draft pick may be out until at least the All-Star break. The LSU productgot off to a rough start this season, going 5-for-47 (.106) with zero extra-base hits and 18 strikeouts (36.7 percent K%) over his first 13 games, however, had picked it up somewhat before the injury, going 26-for-111 (.234) with seven home runs and 30 strikeouts (24.2 percent K%) over his next 32 games. The youngster also stole 11 bases before hitting the IL. With some good pop and speed to go with it, Crews shouldbe held onto in an IL spot until his return.
