Anthony Santander Tue May 20 3:20pm CT

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander is serving as the DH for the Jays on Tuesday and will hit sixth in the batting order versus the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Dylan Cease in the series opener. Santander is slowly moving his way down Toronto's batting order after originally starting as their three-hole hitter for the first 39 games of the 2025 campaign. The 30-year-old slugger had a career year as a first-time All-Star in 2024 with Baltimore, clubbing 44 homers and driving in 102 runs, but he's currently slashing just .182/.264/.308 with five homers, 16 RBI and a 44:18 K:BB in his first 41 games with the Blue Jays. Tuesday's matchup isn't the best one for him to turn things around against Cease, although Santander has hit .313 with a .916 OPS, a homer and three RBI against Cease in 16 career at-bats against him.

Juan Soto Tue May 20 3:20pm CT

New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he plans to speak to superstar outfielder Juan Soto about his lack of hustle after Soto was held to a single in Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox on a ball that hit high off Fenway Park's Green Monster in a 3-1 loss. Soto thought the ball he hit was a home run, slowly jogging to first base before realizing the ball didn't leave the park and being held to a single. "I think I've been hustling pretty hard. If you saw it today, you could tell," Soto said. The 26-year-old also jogged slowly out of the box in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Yankees on a ball up the middle in which he was thrown out by multiple steps. He's currently slashing .246/.376/.439 with eight homers and six steals in the first year of a 15-year, $765 million contract. Soto's on-base percentage, slugging and OPS are all the lowest marks of his career going into Tuesday's action.

Jasson Dominguez Tue May 20 3:10pm CT

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is getting the day off on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium with left-hander Patrick Corbin on the bump. Cody Bellinger is sliding over to left field and is hitting cleanup, while Ben Rice will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth in the order. In his first full season in the big leagues, the 22-year-old Dominguez is currently slashing .241/.342/.421 with a .763 OPS, five home runs, nine doubles, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored and four stolen bases in 155 trips to the plate for the Yankees. He's been slightly better in 13 games in May, hitting .268 (11-for-41) with three homers, nine RBI, one steal and 10 runs scored. Despite the lefty-lefty matchup, Bellinger has hit .400 with two RBI in 20 career at-bats versus Corbin. Rice, who also hits lefty, has never faced Corbin.

Jacob Young Tue May 20 3:00pm CT

Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young (shoulder) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the division-rival Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. Alex Call will start in right field and bat seventh, while Dylan Crews will slide over to center field while hitting ninth. Young will miss his second straight game with a left-shoulder injury, but he could be back for Wednesday's contest in D.C. The 25-year-old former seventh-rounder in 2021 out of Florida has only been relevant as outfield depth in NL-only leagues so far in 2025 while hitting just .227/.309/.282 with no home run, six RBI, 15 runs scored and five stolen bases in 110 at-bats. Young has gone 10-for-44 (.227) with a double, triple, five RBI, three steals and four runs so far in 15 games in May. Call has a much nicer .283 average (26-for-92) but is also searching for his first long ball of 2025.

Will Benson Tue May 20 2:40pm CT

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Will Benson will start Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates on the bench with left-hander Bailey Falter on the mound at PNC Park. Connor Joe will get the nod in right field and will hit in the nine-hole for Cincy. Benson has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball since being called up from Triple-A Louisville on May 10, going 12-for-30 (.400) with five home runs, three doubles, 11 RBI, one steal and seven runs scored in nine games played. The 26-year-old lefty hitter has essentially become the team's strong-sided platoon option in right field against right-handed pitchers thanks to his hot streak. He'll take a seat with a lefty on the mound on Tuesday, though, with Joe being an option to avoid in DFS in the ninth spot. Joe went hitless in nine at-bats with the Padres to start the year and has gone 6-for-15 with an RBI in four games with the Reds.

Colton Gordon Tue May 20 2:30pm CT

Houston Astros pitching prospect Colton Gordon was sent back to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday after making two starts for the team over the past week. The southpaw allowed six earned runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 9 2/3 innings of work in those two starts. The Astros' 14th-ranked prospect had pitched well for Sugar Land, posting a 2.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 20.6 percent K-BB% over eight starts (42 1/3 IP), but was unable to replicate that success in the majors. The 26-year-old will surely get another opportunity at some point this season, but the 6-foot-4 hurler is not a stash candidate at this time.

    From RotoBaller

Kyle Gibson Tue May 20 2:30pm CT

The Baltimore Orioles released right-hander Kyle Gibson on Tuesday after he cleared waivers, according to The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich. The O's signed the veteran hurler for $5.25 million this spring, but now he's a free agent again after the organization designated him for assignment over the weekend. Gibson did not look good in his four starts with the team before being cut, going 0-3 with a 16.78 ERA (10.56 FIP) and 2.92 WHIP with 10 strikeouts and seven walks in 12 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed 23 earned runs on 29 hits, including a whopping seven home runs. The 37-year-old veteran will now look to latch on with another organization on a minor-league deal, but other teams might be hesitant to do so after he was absolutely destroyed in his four starts with Baltimore.

    From RotoBaller

Chayce McDermott Tue May 20 2:20pm CT

Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Chayce McDermott will serve as a bulk reliever for Tuesday's game against the Brewers after being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. McDermott made his MLB debut last season, making one start for the team, and was recalled last week for a spot start against Minnesota in which he allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in three innings of work. With 144 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched last season at Triple-A (12.96 K/9), there is some intrigue for fantasy, but the Ks come with inflated walk rates (13.7 percent BB% in '24). The Orioles' fourth-ranked prospect can be safely left to the waiver wire for now. Kade Strowd was optioned to Norfolk in a corresponding move.

    From RotoBaller

Gavin Lux Tue May 20 2:20pm CT

Cincinnati Reds infielder/outfielder Gavin Lux will retreat to the bench for Tuesday's game against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates with a left-hander on the mound. Catcher Tyler Stephenson is the designated hitter and will bat sixth, while Jose Trevino is doing the catching and hitting seventh against Pirates southpaw Bailey Falter. Lux has gone hitless in three career at-bats against Falter and has gone 3-for-27 (.111) with just one RBI on the season against lefties. The former Dodger has hit a strong .294 (45-for-153) in his first season in Cincy, but it has come with just one long ball and one stolen base. Stephenson will be an intriguing DFS pick at catcher on Tuesday given his .533 career average against Falter in 15 at-bats with two home runs and five RBI. Trevino has gone hitless against Falter in just two career at-bats.

    From RotoBaller

Colton Cowser Tue May 20 2:20pm CT

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser (thumb) is doing pre-game work with High-A Aberdeen on Tuesday and will begin his minor-league rehab assignment with them on Wednesday, the team announced. Cowser is ready to play in rehab games after fracturing his left thumb in late March at the very start of the 2025 regular season, but because he's on the 60-day injured list, he won't be eligible to return to the big-league roster until May 30. The 25-year-old outfielder had gone just 2-for-16 with a homer and an RBI in four games before getting injured, but he should be an everyday player for Baltimore when he returns, and fantasy managers should scoop him up now if he's available on your league's waiver wire. Cowser hit .242/.321/.447 with a .768 OPS, 24 homers, 69 RBI, 77 runs scored and nine steals in 153 games in his first full season in the majors in 2024.

Casey Legumina Tue May 20 2:10pm CT

Seattle Mariners right-hander Casey Legumina will serve as the opener on Tuesday against the hosting Chicago White Sox, according to Seattle Sports' Shannon Drayer. Right-hander Casey Lawrence is on the taxi squad and is expected to be added to the active roster as the bulk reliever for Tuesday's contest. Legumina has been a key reliever for the first-place Mariners this year with a 3-1 record, 1.84 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB in 14 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. This will be the 27-year-old's first actual "start" in the big leagues, but he won't be a recommended DFS streamer, as he'll likely only go an inning or two before handing the ball to Lawrence. The 37-year-old Lawrence should also be avoided for fantasy purposes, even against the struggling White Sox. He's allowed 14 runs (seven earned) while walking one and striking out five in 12 2/3 relief innings for Seattle and Toronto in 2025.

    From RotoBaller

Ryan McMahon Tue May 20 2:10pm CT

Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon will retreat to the bench for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field with left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the bump. Aaron Schunk will take over at third and will hit ninth in the batting order. McMahon is hitless in six career at-bats against Luzardo and has gone 8-for-50 (.160) with one of his six homers and 20 strikeouts against southpaws in 2025. The lefty hitter has been hot in May, going 17-for-57 (.298) with four homers, three doubles, a triple, seven RBI, one steal and 13 runs scored in 17 games played. He should be back in action on Wednesday. Schunk won't be very attractive as a sleeper in DFS at the bottom of the order against a strong pitcher, even at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He's hit 5-for-20 in 2025 with no homers and a run scored as a bench player.

    From RotoBaller

Cam Collier Tue May 20 2:00pm CT

Cincinnati Reds third base prospect Cam Collier (thumb) began a rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League affiliate on Monday, going 0-for-2 in the contest. The Reds' fourth-ranked prospect (MLB No. 75) tore a ligament in his thumb during spring training and has been out of game action ever since. Once the 20-year-old completes the rehab assignment, he may be assigned to High-A Dayton, where he played all last season, but expect a promotion to Double-A later in the year. In 2024 at High-A, the left-handed slugger slashed .248/.355/.443 with 20 home runs in 119 games. If all goes well, the former first-round draft pick could make his MLB debut next season, and with his big-time power, Collier is a name dynasty managers should be keeping an eye on.

    From RotoBaller

Travis Bazzana Tue May 20 1:40pm CT

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) underwent an MRI for his sore oblique, and a strain was confirmed. The team estimates that 2024's No. 1 overall draft pick will miss 8-10 weeks with the injury, and the 22-year-old will begin rehabbing at the team's facility in Arizona. The Oregon State product hit .252 at Double-A Akron, belting five doubles, three triples, and four home runs in 33 games before the injury. He also stole eight bases and recorded a 19:39 BB:K in 149 plate appearances. There was a chance the team's top prospect (MLB No. 12) would make a major league debut this season, but this will almost certainly throw off that timeline, so dynasty managers who were counting on him will have to adjust accordingly.

Jeferson Quero Tue May 20 12:00pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers catching prospect Jeferson Quero (hamstring, shoulder) injured his hamstring just as he was completing his comeback from last year's shoulder surgery. Quero is now expected to move from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Nashville as soon as next Monday, according to MLB.com. In six games in the ACL, Quero has gone 2-for-15 with two home runs, three RBI, four runs scored, five walks and one strikeout. The 22-year-old catching prospect missed all of the 2024 season due to his shoulder surgery, but he's past that injury now and is getting close to making his 2025 debut in the minor leagues. Per MLB Pipeline, Quero is Milwaukee's No. 2 prospect and the fifth-best catching prospect. Despite being one of the best catching prospects in all of baseball, Quero is currently blocked at the big-league level by William Contreras.

Carlos Rodriguez Tue May 20 11:40am CT

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are expected to promote right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Rodriguez from Triple-A Nashville to make a starter later this week/weekend during the four-game series against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates that starts on Thursday. The Brewers need rotation help with Aaron Civale (hamstring) and Jose Quintana (shoulder) on the injured list, so the 23-year-old Rodriguez will make his return to the majors after posting a 7.30 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with nine strikeouts and three walks over 12 1/3 innings in his first three MLB starts in 2024. The Nicaraguan native has gone 3-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 49 K's and 15 walks in 45 1/3 innings for Nashville this year, though, and will be worth a look as a deep-league streamer against the Bucs with his six-pitch mix.

Parker Meadows Tue May 20 11:30am CT

Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday night. Meadows will finally be playing in games after being sidelined for the entire 2025 season to this point due to a nerve issue in his right arm. Because of the 25-year-old's lengthy absence, he's likely to require a longer rehab assignment, but he could be activated from the injured list by early June, barring a setback. Fantasy managers in need of outfield help should check to see if Meadows is available on the waiver wire, as he should be a lineup regular for Detroit when he's finally cleared to return to the big leagues. Meadows started slow in 2024 and missed time with a hamstring injury, but he was a difference-maker for the Tigers down the stretch and hit .296/.340/.500 with six homers and five steals in 47 games after returning in August.

    From RotoBaller

Tommy Edman Tue May 20 11:30am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team wanted to stay away from having Tommy Edman play center field on back-to-back days while being mindful of his ankle, which is why he started at second base with Hyeseong Kim in center field in Monday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Edman will take the day off in Game 2 of the series at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday. It means that Andy Pages will likely be back in center on Tuesday, with Kim starting at the keystone. The Dodgers are easing Edman back onto the field after he missed over two weeks with a right-ankle injury. The 30-year-old switch-hitter has gone 1-for-8 with an RBI in two games since returning from the injured list on Sunday. Fantasy managers are hoping that Edman will get going once he gets back to a regular schedule. He's currently slashing .244/.285/.496 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 19 RBI and two steals in 119 at-bats.

Ryan Brasier Tue May 20 11:20am CT

Chicago Cubs right-handed reliever Ryan Brasier (groin) tossed a shutout inning with Triple-A Iowa in a minor-league rehab appearance on Saturday in his fifth rehab outing, including back-to-back appearances in his most recent games, according to MLB.com. Brasier began his rehab assignment with Iowa on May 7 and should be getting close to being activated from the 10-day injured list. The 37-year-old veteran appeared in the team's March 18 season-opening series in Japan against the Los Angeles Dodgers but then landed on the IL before the domestic home opener at the end of March with a strained left groin. Barring a setback with his balky groin, he should be able to return to the Cubs' bullpen by late May or early June. Given Chicago's shaky 'pen this year, there's a chance Brasier could work his way into a high-leverage relief role when he's back.

    From RotoBaller

Jake Rogers Tue May 20 11:20am CT

Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that catcher Jake Rogers (oblique) will come off the 10-day injured list to catch left-hander Tarik Skubal in Tuesday's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. Rogers will come off the IL after playing in four minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Toledo, where he went 5-for-15 with three doubles, five runs scored, three walks and three strikeouts. Now that the 30-year-old backstop is back in Detroit, Dillon Dingler will see fewer playing time behind the dish. Rogers hit a career-high 21 home runs in 107 games for Detroit in 2023 but fell to 10 homers and 36 RBI in 102 games last year. In just six games played before his injury in 2025, Rogers went 4-for-18 with no homers, a triple and three runs scored in 22 plate appearances. While splitting time with Dingler, he'll only be valuable in two-catcher fantasy leagues.
