Michael King Tue Jul 29 9:00pm CT

San Diego Padres right-hander Michael King (shoulder) is reportedly in consideration for a rehab start this weekend, likely at the Triple-A level. The 30-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list since May 25 with a long thoracic nerve injury in his right shoulder. He is expected to return sometime in August. Before the injury, King was dominant, posting a 2.59 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts across 55 innings. His return would provide a significant boost to a Padres rotation looking to stay competitive in a tightly contested National League West race.

Carlos Correa Tue Jul 29 8:50pm CT

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (illness) left Tuesday's game early with what manager Rocco Baldelli described as lightheadedness. Correa spoke with the team's head trainer multiple times before exiting during the top of the third inning. Twenty-four-year-old Brooks Lee took over at shortstop. Correa is day-to-day. The 30-year-old has taken a step back following an excellent 2024 season. Through 93 games, he is slashing .267/.319/.386 with limited power production. The Twins will likely be cautious with their star infielder as they continue their push for a postseason spot.

Reese Olson Tue Jul 29 8:30pm CT

The Detroit Tigers have activated right-hander Chris Paddack, who will make his team debut Wednesday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Paddack was acquired from the Minnesota Twins in a deal that also included right-hander Randy Dobnak, with catching prospect Enrique Jimenez going the other way. Through 21 starts this season, Paddack posted a 4.95 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a .266 opponents average. He takes the rotation spot of Reese Olson, who is expected to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder strain. Paddack is in his seventh major league season and owns a career 4.49 ERA.

Yoan Moncada Tue Jul 29 8:20pm CT

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada (hand) is out of the lineup again Tuesday as he deals with a right hand contusion. The 30-year-old switch hitter was hit by a pitch on July 26 and was removed from the game. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative, and he remains day-to-day. 31-year-old Kevin Newman will start in Moncada's place, hitting ninth. Moncada has struggled at times this season but remains a valuable piece of the lineup. Through 42 games, he is slashing .216/.321/.455 with solid power from both sides of the plate.

Kyle Higashioka Tue Jul 29 8:10pm CT

Texas Rangers catcher Kyle Higashioka (hamstring) is back in the lineup Tuesday night, batting seventh against the Los Angeles Angels in the second game of the series. The 35-year-old missed five games after straining his right hamstring on July 22. In 56 games this season, Higashioka is slashing .253/.301/.368 with a .669 OPS. He has shared catching duties with 30-year-old Jonah Heim. Higashioka will look to make an immediate impact as the Rangers continue their push in the AL West. First pitch in Anaheim is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. EDT.

Kyle Stowers Tue Jul 29 6:10pm CT

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (illness) is feeling better and is starting in left field and hitting cleanup in Tuesday's game against the hosting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Sonny Gray at Busch Stadium. Stowers was scratched from the series opener on Monday but will return the very next day. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has never faced Gray in his career, but fantasy managers will want to get Stowers back into their starting lineups immediately the way he's been swinging the bat. In his last 12 games, the breakout star is hitting an absurd .439 (18-for-41) with seven home runs and four doubles. He comes into Tuesday's tilt slashing a robust .299/.379/.573 with a .952 OPS, 23 home runs, 63 RBI, 52 runs scored and five stolen bases. Stowers' strong season earned him his first All-Star appearance this summer.

    From RotoBaller

Byron Buxton Tue Jul 29 6:00pm CT

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (rib) was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 27. This move comes after Buxton was forced to exit early during Saturday's game due to a ribcage issue. He'll officially hit the shelf due to left rib cartilage irritation. This is a shame considering Buxton was actually doing quite well at the plate. He was slashing .282/.343/.561 with 23 home runs, 59 RBI, and 17 steals in 85 games. There should be a better timetable on his return in the coming days. In the meantime, Harrison Bader and DaShawn Keirsey Jr. will likely split up the playing time in center field.

    From RotoBaller

Aroldis Chapman Tue Jul 29 6:00pm CT

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (back) is available to pitch out of the bullpen ahead of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins, according to manager Alex Cora. This is good news after Chapman was pulled from Sunday's appearance due to back spasms. Chapman was unavailable on Monday, but is ready to pitch again. This doesn't sound like the type of issue that should linger or impact Chapman on the mound anymore. Fantasy managers should feel fine about plugging Chapman back into their lineups on Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Tanner Scott Tue Jul 29 5:50pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott (elbow) began a throwing progression on Tuesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. This is a positive step forward for Scott who is working his way back from an elbow inflammation issue. The expectation is that Scott is going to need at least a few weeks to ramp up again. He figures to be back in the mix by the end of August. That being said, the Dodgers might want to make a move to add another high leverage arm while he's out. For now, Blake Treinen, Ben Casparius, and Alex Vesia will handle the bulk of the closing duties. For now, fantasy managers should continue to hold Scott on their IR until there's a better timetable available.

    From RotoBaller

Aaron Judge Tue Jul 29 5:40pm CT

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (elbow) landed on the 10-day injured list over the weekend. This is obviously a tough blow to the Yankees, but the organization is hopeful that it'll be a short stint on the shelf. Yankees' manager Aaron Boone said on Tuesday that Judge should ramp up his activities soon and hopefully return when first eligible on August 5. It's worth noting that Judge was able to do some light hitting on Tuesday. The biggest question will be whether or not Judge will be able to return to the outfield because of his UCL issue. Judge might be forced to play designated hitter, which would shift Giancarlo Stanton into the outfield. Nobody wants to watch Stanton try to run down balls in the outfield. Regardless, fantasy managers should at least be able to plug Judge back into their lineups in early August.

    From RotoBaller

Ryan Helsley Tue Jul 29 5:30pm CT

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley has been a hot name ahead of this Thursday's trade deadline. The two-time All-Star is on an expiring deal and could be a legitimate back-end bullpen option for many contending teams. This season, Helsley holds a 3.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 41/14 K/BB ratio with 21 saves in 36 games with the Cardinals. There should be plenty of teams in on Helsley, but the Toronto Blue Jays are the most recent team to throw their hat in the race. It's worth noting that the Blue Jays did acquire right-hander Seranthony Dominguez on Tuesday. However, it doesn't appear they're done adding bullpen and could make a splash with Helsley. The 31-year-old is one of the best arms available, so it could be a hefty price for whoever acquires him.

    From RotoBaller

Salvador Perez Tue Jul 29 5:20pm CT

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (elbow) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Perez won't miss any time after making an early exit from Monday's game. He was pulled out from that contest after getting hit by a pitch in the elbow. Perez appears good to go as he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Erick Fedde. Fantasy managers better make sure to get Perez in their lineups ahead of first pitch. Perez is slashing .346/.391/.765 with nine home runs and 20 RBI in 22 games this month.

    From RotoBaller

George Springer Tue Jul 29 5:10pm CT

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (head) remains out of the starting lineup for both games of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Baltimore Orioles. Springer was forced to make an early exit from Monday's game after getting hit in the head by a pitch. He is reportedly feeling better, but will still take a seat for both of Tuesday's contests. Fantasy managers should consider Springer as day-to-day right now. Davis Schneider served as the designated hitter in Game 1, while Bo Bichette takes over as DH for the nightcap.

    From RotoBaller

Jacob Wilson Tue Jul 29 4:20pm CT

The Athletics announced on Tuesday that they placed rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson (hand) on the 10-day injured list with a bruised hand that he has been playing with in recent weeks. In a corresponding move, infielder Darell Hernaiz has been called up from Triple-A Las Vegas. Hopefully, Wilson won't have to miss much time before coming off the IL, but it could give him a nice little break after finally starting to struggle of late in his first full big-league season. The former sixth overall pick is still hitting above .300 on the season and is one of the toughest hitters to strike out, but he's gone just 7-for-50 (.140) with a homer and five RBI in 13 games in the month of July. Max Schumann got the start at the 6 for the A's on Monday with Wilson out and should be the team's primary option at the position until Wilson is able to return from the IL.

    From RotoBaller

Seranthony Dominguez Tue Jul 29 4:10pm CT

The Toronto Blue Jays are acquiring right-handed reliever Seranthony Dominguez from the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for right-handed pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown, a source tells ESPN's Jeff Passan. Even with closer Felix Bautista (shoulder) on the injured list, the disappointing Orioles have firmly become sellers at the trade deadline and have traded away both Dominguez and lefty Gregory Soto, who were both in line for saves with Bautista on the shelf. Until Bautista returns, the O's will now be forced to go with some combination of Yennier Cano and Andrew Kittredge in save situations. Dominguez, meanwhile, will lose most of his short-term fantasy appeal for those scrounging for saves with the move to Toronto. The 30-year-old veteran should settle into a late-inning setup role in front of closer Jeff Hoffman.

    From RotoBaller

Joey Loperfido Tue Jul 29 4:00pm CT

X-rays came back negative on Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (thumb) after he jammed his left thumb in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Shi Dividi of Sportsnet. Loperfido initially stayed in the game after injuring his thumb on a play at the plate in the fourth inning before eventually coming out of the contest. The 26-year-old provided three hits, including a home run, before departing, so it wasn't all bad for him. Loperfido probably will not be in the lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader, but since he escaped any major damage, it's possible he'll be back in there for Wednesday's game at Camden Yards. He came into Tuesday's games with only 16 games played in the big leagues, but he was hitting .341 before his three-hit day with two homers and seven RBI.

    From RotoBaller

Shane Bieber Tue Jul 29 3:40pm CT

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) looked good in his latest minor-league rehab start with Double-A Akron on Tuesday, allowing an earned run on three hits while walking none and striking out seven in four innings of work. Bieber was initially scheduled to make his third rehab start on Sunday with Triple-A Columbus before it was rained out. The 30-year-old former Cy Young winner will probably need one more rehab start on the farm before the Guardians consider activating him from the 60-day injured list. With Bieber getting close to making his 2025 debut after recovering from Tommy John surgery, there's a chance that contending teams will make a play to trade for him despite the fact he has a $16 million player option for next year. Fantasy managers should temper expectations for Bieber when he returns, but given his past success, he's worth stashing now that he's close to a return.

    From RotoBaller

Tommy Edman Tue Jul 29 3:40pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Tommy Edman (ankle) is starting at third base and batting seventh in Tuesday's clash against the hosting Cincinnati Reds and left-hander Nick Lodolo at Great American Ball Park. Edman injured his right ankle last weekend and was held out of Monday's series opener in Cincy as a precaution. However, the 30-year-old has avoided a trip to the injured list for now and should continue seeing everyday work at the hot corner with Max Muncy (knee) still on the IL. The switch-hitter hasn't done much for fantasy managers in his first full season with the Dodgers, slashing .225/.280/.389 with a below-average .669 OPS, 11 homers, 42 RBI, 41 runs and three steals in 293 at-bats. Edman has been ice-cold in July, too, going 9-for-60 (.150) with a homer, four RBI, 14 K's and five walks in 17 games played.

    From RotoBaller

TJ Friedl Tue Jul 29 3:30pm CT

Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl was placed on the paternity list on Tuesday and outfielder Rece Hinds was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Freidl will now be away from the team for a few days and probably won't be back until Thursday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves. With Friedl away on Tuesday, Will Benson is starting in center field and Gavin Lux will bat out of the leadoff spot against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 29-year-old Friedl has reached double-digit home runs for the third straight season with the Reds. He's currently slashing .269/.371/.398 with a .769 OPS, 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 103 games in his fifth year in the big leagues. Friedl offers modest power/speed contributions in deep-mixed leagues and struggles against lefty pitchers.

    From RotoBaller

Hyeseong Kim Tue Jul 29 3:20pm CT

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Tuesday that they placed infielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with left-shoulder bursitis and selected the contract of prized infield prospect Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Kim played in the series opener on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, but it's something that has been bothering him for a while now, so the Dodgers will give him some time to heal up. Although the 26-year-old rookie hasn't seen consistent playing time on a stacked Dodgers roster, he has taken advantage when he's been on the field with a .304/.338/.406 slash line, two home runs, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 138 at-bats. It's unclear if he'll be ready to return when eligible on Aug. 8. It's unclear how long Freeland will be up, but his power/speed profile could give him short-term fantasy appeal in redraft leagues with Kim, Tommy Edman (ankle) and Max Muncy (knee) all hurt.
