Seth Halvorsen Tue Jun 17 7:00am CT

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen closed out his team's 6-4 win in Washington on Monday night to earn his fourth save of the season. The 24-year-old right has four saves and four holds in his 29 games this season, posting a 4.40 ERA and 4.54 FIP in his 28 2/3 innings. He has 26 strikeouts and 28 hits allowed in those innings, and he has provided scoreless relief in eight of his last 10 appearances. On Monday, he had to work around a leadoff walk to Luis Garcia Jr., but got a double-play from Brady House before getting Josh Bell to ground out to first to end the game. The Rockies haven't had many save chances this season, but have been playing better lately. Halvorsen has been their primary closer when needed this season and should stay in that role for now, making him potentially a sneaky source of saves.

Aroldis Chapman Tue Jun 17 7:00am CT

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth inning in Seattle on Monday, striking out the side in order on just 13 pitches to secure his team's 2-0 road win. Chapman struck out Randy Arozarena and then pinch-hitters Dylan Moore and Donovan Solano to end the game and earn his 13th save in 14 chances this year for Boston. Chapman has thrown a total of 30 innings in his 33 games and compiled a 1.50 ERA, 2.04 FIP, and 0.83 WHIP. He has 42 strikeouts in his 30 frames, and he should continue to be a strong option at the back of the bullpen for as long as he's healthy. Boston has been surging lately, and if they stay in the Wild Card race, Chapman will continue to be one of the better closers in baseball.

Adley Rutschman Tue Jun 17 6:50am CT

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman homered in the fourth inning off Rays starter Ryan Pepiot, but that was all the offense the Birds could get going in their 7-1 loss to Tampa on Monday. Rutschman finished the game 1-for-4 with the homer, which was his eighth of the season. The 27-year-old backstop is still hitting only .233 on the season, but he has shown signs of coming around since the calendar flipped to June. In his 12 games this month, he is hitting .356 (16-for-45) with two doubles, three homers, and a .437 wOBA. His hard-hit rate and barrel rate are also trending up, so he could be set to continue to heat up headed into the summer after his very slow start to the season.

Brandon Lowe Tue Jun 17 6:40am CT

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe hit a home run off his former teammate Zach Eflin on Monday night in the fourth inning. Lowe's blast extended the Rays' lead to 6-1 and they went on to take the first game of the AL East series 7-1. The 30-year-old lefty is hitting .260 this season with his 14 homers, 39 RBI, and a .334 wOBA. His batting and power numbers are slightly up from the last three seasons, when he battled multiple injuries. He has hit 10 of his 14 homers at home and definitely seems to be enjoying the friendly confines of George M. Steinbrenner Field. He and the Rays play every day the rest of this week at home with three more games against the Orioles before hosting the Tigers over the weekend. Lowe is a strong power option in DFS formats when playing at home and is a reliable option in all formats when healthy.

Shohei Ohtani Tue Jun 17 6:30am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani made his first appearance on the mound for the Dodgers on Monday night in Los Angeles, and he also delivered two hits and two RBI as the leadoff hitter in the team's 6-3 victory. He gave up two hits and one run in a 28-pitch first inning. He settled down after back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly to get out of the inning, but did not have any strikeouts. At the plate, he doubled to drive in a run in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1 and added an RBI single in the fourth inning to finish 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. Ohtani is hitting an even .300 with 25 homers, 11 stolen bases, and 43 RBI in his 71 games this season. He'll continue to progress in his throwing program to be able to go deeper into games, while also remaining a key part of the Dodgers' potent lineup. The two-way superstar is officially back to both pitching and hitting, and it will be exciting to watch the many ways he contributes to the Dodgers as they chase the NL West pennant and ultimately try to defend their World Series title.

Bryson Stott Tue Jun 17 6:20am CT

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott (elbow) may get at least Tuesday off after hyperextending his elbow on a swing on Monday, according to manager Rob Thomson. Stott was able to finish the game, but will undergo further evaluation to see if he needs some downtime to recover. The team will be cautious with the 27-year-old lefty to avoid the issue getting worse. Stott has struggled his season and is batting just .236 with four homers, a .283 wOBA, and only a 26.9% hard-hit rate. Now that he's also battling an injury, fantasy managers in standard-sized leagues may want to consider alternatives from the waiver wire. Stott has good power and speed potential, but hasn't been able to live up to it yet this season.

Logan Gilbert Tue Jun 17 3:08am CT

Seattle's SP Logan Gilbert recorded 10 strikeouts in 5 innings but took the loss in a 2-0 loss to the Red Sox on Monday, Jun. 16.

Lucas Giolito Tue Jun 17 1:59am CT

Boston's SP Lucas Giolito recorded 10 strikeouts in 6 innings with the win in a 2-0 win over Seattle on Monday, Jun. 16.

Ryan Pepiot Tue Jun 17 1:32am CT

Tampa Bay's SP Ryan Pepiot recorded 11 strikeouts in 8 innings getting the win in a 7-1 win over the Orioles on Monday, Jun. 16.

Manny Machado Tue Jun 17 12:20am CT

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The fantasy stalwart also drove in a run on a sac fly. Machado has been on a tear over his last 13 games, batting a red-hot .370 (20-for-54) with two doubles, four long balls, 18 RBI, eight runs scored, and one steal. It's a strong start to the season for him, and the underlying metrics back it up. The 32-year-old's .316 xBA matches his actual batting average, and he's sporting his highest average exit velocity (92.6 MPH) and hard-hit rate (52.1%) marks since 2021. It isn't a stretch to think he could challenge his career-bests in runs scored (100) and RBI (107).

    From RotoBaller

Jake Mangum Tue Jun 17 12:10am CT

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jake Mangum went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's 7-1 win against the Baltimore Orioles. He doubled, singled twice, and scored a run. That marks a seven-game on-base streak for the 29-year-old, who has shown well in his first taste of big-league action. Over the stretch, he's a stellar 12-for-27 (.444) with two doubles, eight RBI, and five runs scored. Overall, he's slashing a respectable .315/.360/.386 through his first 37 professional games, and has been a catalyst for Tampa Bay. Mangum doesn't offer much in the power department, but he has a high batting floor and should chip in a fair amount of steals with a sprint speed just outside the top 15% in the league.

Kyle Finnegan Tue Jun 17 12:00am CT

Washington Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan blew his fifth save of the season and took the loss in Monday's 6-4 game against the Rockies. Finnegan came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He instantly blew the save on a game-tying home run. He got the first out on a fly-out, allowed a single, got the second out on a pop-out, allowed a go-ahead two-run HR, and got the final out on a groundout. It wasn't the 33-year-old's finest outing, but he has pitched well overall this season with 18 saves, a 3.12 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and a 7.27 K/9 rate in 26 innings of work. He currently has high job security, which makes him a fine fantasy option in at least all roto leagues.

Lucas Giolito Mon Jun 16 11:50pm CT

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito turned in another strong start in Monday's 2-0 win over the Mariners. Giolito pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and a walk with a season-high 10 strikeouts. The 30-year-old has either pitched very well or very poorly this season, culminating in a 3-1 record with a 4.73 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and an 8.08 K/9 rate in nine starts and 45 2/3 IP. His next start will be in a favorable venue but against a strong lineup at the Giants. Giolito's propensity for implosion makes him a dangerous start in roto leagues, but he could be a potential start candidate for fantasy managers who don't mind taking risks in points leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Mick Abel Mon Jun 16 11:50pm CT

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitching rookie Mick Abel picked up the second win of his career in Monday's 5-2 win over the Marlins. Abel pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. The 23-year-old has turned in encouraging results in his first four starts, going 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and a 7.52 K/9 rate in 20 1/3 IP. His strikeout numbers have not yet reflected the ceiling he showed in the minors, but fantasy managers can't complain about his ERA and WHIP so far. His next matchup will be a tough matchup against the Mets. While he has looked good overall, Abel had a harder time in his last tough matchup against the Cubs. As such, fantasy managers may consider sitting him.

    From RotoBaller

Logan Gilbert Mon Jun 16 11:40pm CT

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (elbow) did not miss a beat in Monday's 2-0 loss to the Red Sox. Gilbert, who had been on the injured list since late April due to a right elbow flexor strain, pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with 10 strikeouts. While he came away with the loss, this was a highly encouraging start for fantasy managers and the Mariners, who have dealt with numerous rotation injuries. The 28-year-old is now 1-2 with a 2.55 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, and a 13.75 K/9 rate in seven starts and 35 1/3 IP. His next scheduled start will be a tough one at the Cubs, but fantasy managers will likely feel more confident throwing their ace out there after his stellar return performance.

    From RotoBaller

Josh Lowe Mon Jun 16 11:40pm CT

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-1 win against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Lowe scored twice, drew a walk, and notched a sacrifice bunt. The Virginia native blasted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning off the Orioles' Zack Eflin -- his fourth of the season -- to give the Rays a 1-0 lead, and they never looked back. Lowe's .241/.317/.407 triple slash isn't that of your typical leadoff man. However, the Rays run him out there more often than not. Furthermore, he's underperforming his .282 xBA by a good margin (.241). That also shows up in his career-low .286 BABIP -- over 50 points lower than he sported in 2024 (.338).

Clarke Schmidt Mon Jun 16 11:30pm CT

New York Yankees starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt pitched well but came away with a no-decision in Monday's 1-0 extra-inning loss to the Angels. Schmidt pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Yankees were unable to provide any support, and the game wasn't decided until the 11th inning. The 29-year-old has pitched well once again this season, going 3-3 with a 3.16 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and an 8.62 K/9 rate in 11 starts and 62 2/3 IP. Monday was his longest start of the season, and over half of his starts have been quality starts. His next scheduled start will be a middling matchup against the Orioles. Schmidt's solid performance this season makes him worth a start for fantasy managers.

    From RotoBaller

Mickey Moniak Mon Jun 16 11:30pm CT

Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-4 road win against the Washington Nationals. He also tripled and scored twice. Moniak's eighth home run of the season came off Nationals' pitcher Kyle Finnegan, and it was a clutch one. The 27-year-old stepped up to bat in the top of the ninth with a runner on after teammate Hunter Goodman smashed a solo shot a few batters earlier to knot up the score at 4-4. Moniak was down in the count when he yanked a painted Finnegan fastball over the right-field wall. It's his third homer in his last six appearances, and he's also notched four two-hit outings in that span.

    From RotoBaller

Jose Soriano Mon Jun 16 11:30pm CT

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Jose Soriano turned in his second consecutive seven-inning start in Monday's 1-0 extra-inning win over the Yankees. Soriano did well against a tough lineup, allowing six hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 26-year-old is now 4-5 with a 3.54 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, a 7.30 K/9 rate, and a 4.17 BB/9 rate in 15 starts and 86 1/3 IP. Over half of his starts have been quality starts, but Soriano has been limited at times due to walk issues. His next scheduled start will be a sneakily favorable matchup against an Astros lineup that has slumped lately. This may present an opportunity for Soriano to extend his seven-inning start stretch to three.

    From RotoBaller

Zach Eflin Mon Jun 16 11:10pm CT

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Zach Eflin did not fare well against his former team in Monday's 7-1 loss to the Rays. Eflin pitched five innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits (including two home runs) and two walks with two strikeouts. The 31-year-old has had an erratic season and is now 6-3 with a 4.81 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a 5.90 K/9 rate in 10 starts and 58 IP. On the positive side, his low K/9 rate appears to be due to some bad luck, as his swinging-strike rate is not out of line with his career average. Eflin will face a tough matchup in his next start at the Yankees. While he has shown solid skills at times this season, his unpredictability and the matchup make Eflin a sit candidate.
