Brandon Sproat Fri Jul 11 10:50am CT

New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Brandon Sproat tossed seven shutout frames on Thursday evening in their matchup against Triple-A Lehigh Valley. In this start, Sproat allowed just three hits and one walk. He struck out four. Since allowing four runs on June 22, Sproat has logged 18 straight shutout frames (across three starts). During this stretch, Sproat has struck out 18 batters and allowed just seven hits and five walks. This is an excellent sign for the budding right-hander, as he posted a hefty 7.33 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP over his last 46 2/3 innings at Triple-A before this recent surge. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on Sproat's development at Syracuse, as he should be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the second half. Given his recent production, he is worth stashing in all 12+ team leagues.

Hunter Dobbins Fri Jul 11 10:00am CT

Boston Red Sox right-hander Hunter Dobbins (elbow) is returning from the 15-day injured list to start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. It'll be Dobbins' first appearance since June 20. The 25-year-old was shelved for three weeks with a strained right elbow. Before going on the IL, the rookie went 4-1 with a solid 4.10 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts against 16 walks in 59 1/3 innings and 12 appearances (10 starts). Dobbins will face a difficult test in his return against a Tampa Bay offense that ranks seventh in the majors in runs scored.

Felix Bautista Fri Jul 11 9:50am CT

The Baltimore Orioles have reported that they are open to being sellers at the trade deadline this year after a disappointing season thus far, as they sit 11.5 games back in the AL East and have a 42-50 record. Per SportsNet New York, the Orioles are said to be ready or near ready to talk seriously about relievers like Andrew Kittredge, Seranthony Dominguez, and left-hander Gregory Soto. Rivals do not believe that Baltimore will trade closer Felix Bautista. Bautista is putting together a nice season thus far in 2025 with a rock-solid 2.41 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, a 12.83 K/9, and 18 saves in 33 2/3 innings pitched. It makes sense as to why the Orioles do not want to trade him. Still, it appears they are open to moving on from some other members of the bullpen, which might affect the number of save opportunities for Bautista down the stretch, considering they could be losing a lot of their bridge relievers.

Rhett Lowder Fri Jul 11 9:50am CT

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Rhett Lowder (oblique) is continuing to rehab his injured left oblique, but he is not yet ready to resume baseball activities. The 23-year-old opened the season on the shelf with a forearm strain, and he then suffered an oblique strain during a Triple-A rehab start in late May. With Lowder still unable to perform baseball activities, there remains no timetable for his return. The injuries have prevented Lowder from building on last season's eye-opening debut. Now MLB Pipeline's 26th-ranked prospect, Lowder pitched to a 1.17 ERA in six starts and 30 2/3 innings with the Reds in 2024.

Shane Bieber Fri Jul 11 9:50am CT

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) threw 41 pitches in a live batting practice session Thursday, and then tossed BP against teammate Gabriel Arias (ankle) on Friday. It's encouraging progress for Bieber, who's on the road back from April 2024 Tommy John surgery. The Guardians are hopeful that the former Cy Young winner will return sometime this month. Bieber, 30, hasn't pitched in a major league game in over 15 months.

    From RotoBaller

Gabriel Arias Fri Jul 11 9:50am CT

Cleveland Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias (ankle) took live batting practice against right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) on Friday. Arias, who has been out since June 30 with a sprained left ankle, is progressing toward a return shortly after the All-Star break. The 25-year-old has hit a modest .231/.293/.369 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 281 plate appearances this season. The Guardians have mostly relied on Brayan Rocchio to handle shortstop in Arias' absence. Rocchio has gone 6-for-21 with a home run in eight games since the team recalled him from the minors.

Eli Morgan Fri Jul 11 9:40am CT

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Eli Morgan (elbow) has started a rehab assignment with the Arizona Complex League on Thursday. Morgan will resume his rehab work after he suffered a setback in mid-June. The right-hander has been sidelined most of the season due to an elbow issue. Before going down, Morgan posted a 12.27 ERA, 2.04 WHIP, and 4/3 K/BB ratio across seven appearances with the Cubs. It's worth noting that Morgan posted a 1.93 ERA in 32 outings with the Cleveland Guardians last season. The veteran right-hander could be an option out of the bullpen in the second half of the season.

Ezequiel Tovar Fri Jul 11 8:50am CT

Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) was the designated hitter for the Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday and was 0-for-4 with one strikeout. Tovar is now 2-for-20 with four strikeouts in July as he continues to rehab from his injury back in early June. On the season for the Colorado Rockies, he is slashing .258/.301/.406 with three home runs, 14 runs scored, 10 RBI, and two stolen bases in 138 plate appearances. It has been a disappointing showing from Tovar thus far in 2025, primarily due to his injuries, but he was coming off a season in 2024 in which he had 26 home runs, and slashed .269/.295/.469. The Rockies have not yet announced, nor has it been reported, how many more rehab games they would like Tovar to play before calling him back up. However, with the All-Star break right around the corner, Tovar will likely return sometime after the break.

Bryan De La Cruz Fri Jul 11 8:40am CT

New York Yankees outfielder Bryan De La Cruz (oblique) remained out of the starting lineup for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barres on Thursday. De La Cruz is currently on the 7-day injured list with an oblique issue. The hope is that he'll be able to return soon, but there is no clear timetable for his return. Since joining the Yankees organization, De La Cruz is slashing .256/.333/.452 with nine home runs, 26 RBI, and six steals in 47 games. He figures to be in the mix as a depth piece if the Yankees need help down the stretch. De La Cruz isn't someone worth rostering in fantasy formats right now.

    From RotoBaller

Justin Slaten Fri Jul 11 8:30am CT

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Justin Slaten (shoulder) is currently not throwing, but is instead doing plyometric exercises. It appears the Red Sox have backed off the throwing program and are focusing on building strength in Slaten's shoulder. The right-hander has been sidelined since late May due to right shoulder inflammation. Slaten doesn't appear to be close to returning to the bullpen. He figures to need multiple weeks of throwing before getting back into the mix. Slaten isn't worth holding in fantasy leagues with his return unclear right now.

    From RotoBaller

Alex Bregman Fri Jul 11 8:20am CT

Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps) will be activated at some point this weekend in the Red Sox's four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Per Ian Browne, a club reporter for MLB.com, it appears that Bregman will play twice this weekend at Fenway. Alex Cora wouldn't specify if it is Friday and Sunday or Saturday and Sunday. Regardless, this is excellent news for the Red Sox, baseball, and fantasy managers. Bregman has been sidelined since late May due to a strained right quad, and it appears he will skip a rehab assignment before returning to the hot corner for the Red Sox. The Red Sox have been on fire lately, winning nine of their last 10 games, but still sit four and a half games back in the AL East race, so getting their best hitter back in the lineup should be a step up for the offense as a whole. On the season, Bregman is slashing .299/.385/.553 with 11 home runs, 32 runs scored, 35 RBI, and one stolen base in 226 plate appearances.

    From RotoBaller

Nestor Cortes Fri Jul 11 8:20am CT

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Nestor Cortes (elbow) continued his rehab work with High-A Wisconsin on Thursday. The southpaw tossed four scoreless innings, allowing three hits, zero walks, and two strikeouts. Cortes only threw 54 pitches during this outing, but the Brewers don't want to push him too hard this early into rehabbing. Afterwards, Cortes said he'd have at least one more rehab start, but will probably end up pitching two games before rejoining the Brewers rotation. He figures to be ready to return before the end of July.

    From RotoBaller

Carson Williams Fri Jul 11 7:50am CT

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect Carson Williams continued to shine on Thursday, delivering a two-out RBI triple in the fourth inning to tie the game against the Nashville Sounds. The triple was the only hit of his four at-bats in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Sounds. After a cold start to the season, hitting just .173 through May, Baseball America's preseason No. 11 overall prospect has found his footing. Since June 1, Williams is batting .291 with three doubles, two triples, and nine home runs, showcasing the loud tools that make him one of the most exciting prospects in baseball. The 22-year-old still carries a concerning 35.3% strikeout rate, but his ability to impact the game with both power and athleticism remains undeniable. The Rays could be tempted to give him a look in the second half, but Taylor Walls should continue to block Williams' path to the lineup with his elite defense. Some additional seasoning in Triple-A should benefit Williams in the long run. Williams remains a high-upside stash in dynasty formats, with watch-list appeal in redraft leagues depending on Tampa Bay's trade deadline moves.

    From RotoBaller

Dylan Beavers Fri Jul 11 7:40am CT

Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect Dylan Beavers is heating up at Triple-A Norfolk. Through 32 plate appearances in July, the 23-year-old is slashing .357/.438/.607 with 10 hits and two home runs in 28 at-bats. Beavers saw just six games at Triple-A last season after spending most of the year at Double-A Bowie. He's taken a big step forward in 2025. The former first-round pick has already tallied ten home runs and 20 stolen bases before the All-Star break, flashing across-the-board fantasy potential. With the Orioles expected to sell at the trade deadline, Beavers is making a strong case for a second-half call-up. He should already be rostered in dynasty formats and is firmly on the redraft radar if Baltimore opens a spot.

    From RotoBaller

Kristian Campbell Fri Jul 11 7:30am CT

Boston Red Sox second-base prospect Kristian Campbell was demoted three weeks ago to regain confidence and fine-tune his approach at the plate. In his 16th game at Triple-A Worcester, he finally notched his first home run. He went 1-for-5 with a three-run blast in Wednesday's 14-9 loss to the Rochester Red Wings. The overall results since Campbell's demotion remain a concern. He has produced just five extra-base hits across 72 plate appearances while striking out at a 31.9% clip, which is up from 27.4% during his time in Boston. He entered 2025 as one of baseball's most hyped prospects and showed flashes of his potential early on, though it's clear that more development is needed. The 23-year-old remains a firm hold in dynasty formats, but redraft managers can safely move on until he turns things around.

Josh Jung Fri Jul 11 6:00am CT

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung went 1-for-4 with a single during their contest against Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday evening. Since being demoted to Triple-A Round Rock, the former first-round pick has tallied at least one hit in each of his five games. During this stretch, Jung has posted one multi-hit game and tallied just one extra-base hit. The Rangers optioned Jung to Triple-A earlier in July after he posted a modest .152/.200/.212 line over his last 26 games in the major leagues. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to return to Texas quite soon. Before his slump, Jung was enjoying a productive campaign, posting a .283/.328/.450 line with seven doubles and seven home runs. For now, he is only worth stashing in deeper AL-only redraft leagues.

Alexis Diaz Fri Jul 11 5:50am CT

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned relief pitcher Alexis Diaz back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. This transaction opened a spot for Tyler Glasnow, who returned from the injured list. He did not make an appearance in his first stint with the Dodgers. The Dodgers acquired Diaz from the Reds in a trade earlier in the regular season. The hard-throwing right-hander had a difficult start to the campaign, posting a high 12.00 ERA and a 2.17 WHIP through his first six innings. During this stretch, he did not tally a save. However, during the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, Diaz primarily served as Cincinnati's go-to option in the ninth inning. In 2023, Diaz was named to the NL All-Star team and held an overall 3.07 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 37 saves. He took a slight step back in 2024, tallying just 28 saves with a 3.99 ERA. The right-hander could eventually find a role in Los Angeles, but for now, he is not worth rostering in any redraft formats.

Tre' Morgan Fri Jul 11 5:40am CT

Tampa Bay Rays first base prospect Tre' Morgan went 2-for-4 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Nashville. This was Morgan's third multi-hit game over his last five contests. While his power production has yet to show the top level of the minor leagues, the first baseman has shown elite eye at the plate. Through his first 41 games with Triple-A Norfolk, the No. 5-ranked prospect in Tampa Bay has posted a .287 AVG with a stellar .428 OBP. He has struck out just 42 times and drawn 32 walks. Last summer, Morgan split time between Low-A, High-A, and Double-A. Through 100 games, he posted a remarkable .324/.408/.423 line with 23 doubles, 10 home runs, and a 48:48 K:BB. If Morgan can continue to find his power swing, he could earn a late-season call to Tampa Bay.

    From RotoBaller

Lazaro Montes Fri Jul 11 5:30am CT

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes continued to hit for power on Thursday evening. Facing Double-A Tula, the budding star went 1-for-4 with a home run and two strikeouts. This his second long ball over his last three games. Since earning the call to join Double-A Arkansas, Montes has posted an impressive .273/.388/.636 slash line with one double and five long balls. The No. 29-ranked prospect on MLB.com began the campaign with High-A but needed just 67 games to prove he was ready for a promotion. Through this stint, Montes held a .269/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs. In total, Montes' 23 long balls this season tie with the most home runs in the minor leagues alongside Ryan Ward of the Dodgers. Montes is worth closely monitoring as he is developing into one of the best hitters in the minor leagues.

Kyren Paris Fri Jul 11 5:20am CT

The Los Angeles Angels have placed infielder Kyren Paris (undisclosed) on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Salt Lake. The team did not specify the injury. Paris has yet to play in a game for Triple-A since July 3. The 23-year-old was very productive in the major leagues during his first 15 games of the campaign when he posted a remarkable .366/.458/.805 slash line with one double, one triple, five home runs, and five stolen bases. However, after this surge, Paris would post a .106/.165/.176 line over his next 29 games with the Angels. Through 29 games with Triple-A, Paris has seen these struggles continue, as he has held a modest .228/.363/.436 with four home runs and a 32:18 K:BB. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should monitor his progression as he could be in the mix to return to the majors later in the second half.
