Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (calf) has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right-calf strain after landing on the 10-day injured list. The Braves will monitor Acuna's progress, but he could return in two to three weeks, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Many folks might have assumed Acuna was lost for the rest of the season when it was initially announced that he had suffered an Achilles injury in Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The Braves have no incentive to rush the former MVP back, but this injury update is a best-case scenario for Acuna's fantasy managers, and he should remain stashed in an IL spot. In the meantime, Eli White will be given the first shot at replacing the All-Star in right field in Atlanta, although the lefty-hitting Jarred Kelenic could form a platoon after just being called up from the minors.

The San Francisco Giants acquired outfield prospect Drew Gilbert and right-handed pitchers Blade Tidwell and Jose Butto from the New York Mets on Wednesday in exchange for veteran right-handed reliever Tyler Rogers, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. It was a pretty big overpay by the Mets, as both Tidwell and Gilbert were ranked in the team's top-15 prospect list, per MLB Pipeline. Gilbert, 24, was a first-round pick by the Houston Astros in 2022 out of Tennessee and was previously considered a top-100 prospect. However, he hasn't exactly lived up to expectations in the minors and was hitting .246/.349/.435 with 12 home runs in 81 games at Triple-A Syracuse. Injuries have definitely played a role in Gilbert's struggles on the farm, but the Giants are hoping they can turn him around and have him be a contributor at the big-league level next season.

The San Francisco Giants acquired right-handed pitching prospect Blade Tidwell, reliever Jose Butto and outfield prospect Drew Gilbert from the New York Mets on Wednesday in exchange for right-handed reliever Tyler Rogers, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. It's a massive haul for the Giants in exchange for a veteran submariner. The 24-year-old Tidwell was ranked as the Mets' No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The former second-rounder in 2022 out of Tennessee made his big-league debut with the Mets this year and allowed 15 earned runs on 23 hits (four homers) while walking 10 and striking out 10 in four appearances (two starts). The New York Mets are acquiring right-handed reliever Tyler Rogers from the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Mets will send right-handers Blade Tidwell and Jose Butto and outfielder Drew Gilbert to the Giants for Rogers. Rogers' brother, Taylor, was also traded on Wednesday from the Cincinnati Reds to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the deal involving third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes. It's a lot to give up for a 34-year-old submariner, but the Mets are looking to shore up the back end of their bullpen for the stretch run this year. Rogers has been very strong for the Gigantes in 2025 with a 4-3 record, 1.80 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched. He's been stingy in the run department, but with no strikeout upside and no clear path to saves in New York, he won't be on the fantasy radar.

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jared Triolo is being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis and will take over starting third base duties for the team after they traded Ke'Bryan Hayes to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, according to Noah Hiles of Pittsburgh PG. Triolo will not officially rejoin the big-league roster until before Friday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The 27-year-old was originally a second-round selection by the Bucs in 2019 out of the University of Houston. He made his major-league debut in 2023 and has hit a weak .225/.311/.326 with a .638 OPS, 15 home runs, 77 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 234 games. Triolo has gone 22-for-139 (.158) with three homers, 10 RBI and five steals for Pittsburgh in 55 games this year. He should probably only be rostered in NL-only leagues now that he'll see regular playing time.

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that outfielder Eli White will play right field for the team with Ronald Acuna Jr. (Achilles) on the 10-day injured list. White made the start in right field and was hitting in the eight-hole for Wednesday's game against the hosting Kansas City Royals and left-hander Angel Zerpa. It's a massive downgrade for the Braves offense, as White is batting .255 (47-for-184) with four home runs, 18 RBI, 29 runs scored and seven stolen bases on the year. For fantasy managers in NL-only leagues, though, White becomes an interesting pickup with a tick up in playing time coming for as long as Acuna remains out. In what has quickly become a lost season, the Braves won't have much incentive to rush Acuna back into the fold. If White struggles, Jared Kelenic could get some run in right field for the Braves, too.

MLB.com's Francys Romero reports that multiple teams are monitoring San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval ahead of Thursday's July 31 trade deadline, and he's drawing significant interest. Doval is among the relievers who could be on the move in the next few hours, according to sources. The 28-year-old Dominican reliever hasn't been perfect, but he's having a bounce-back 2025 campaign after a disastrous 2024 season that saw him post a 4.88 ERA in 59 innings pitched. Doval led the big leagues with 39 saves in 2023 and is currently sporting a 3.15 ERA (3.31 FIP), a 1.20 WHIP, 15 saves, 47 strikeouts and 24 walks in 45 2/3 innings pitched. While he has been shaky in the month of July, Doval could be a serious bullpen upgrade for a contending team this week. If Doval is traded, look for Randy Rodriguez to become the Giants' top option for saves.

San Francisco Giants right-hander Landen Roupp (elbow) threw 35 pitches off flat ground on Tuesday and is expected to continue throwing at the team's spring training complex in Arizona during the club's six-game road trip, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. Right-elbow inflammation landed Roupp on the 15-day injured list late last week, but if he continues to progress, he could come off the IL in early August to rejoin San Fran's starting rotation. The 26-year-old former 12th-round pick in 2021 should have a spot waiting for him in the Giants' rotation when he's ready to return, as he was looking good with a 3.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 95:42 K:BB in 101 1/3 innings over 20 starts in just his second MLB season. Roupp had given up two earned runs or less in six straight starts before getting injured.

Los Angeles Dodgers rookie right-hander Roki Sasaki (shoulder) is scheduled to throw at least one more bullpen session before being cleared to face live hitters, according to MLB.com. Sasaki initially landed on the 15-day injured list on May 13 with a right-shoulder impingement and was moved to the 60-day IL on June 20. The first-place Dodgers are not rushing the 23-year-old Japanese hurler back, and in a best-case scenario, fantasy managers may not get him back until late August or even early September. He has not pitched in a game since May 9 and threw 39 pitches in his most recent bullpen session. Once Sasaki goes on a minor-league rehab start, he's expected to need three to four appearances before he's an option to rejoin the big-league club. The Dodgers hope he can return before the end of the August, but even then, Sasaki might not be able to contribute much in fantasy the rest of the way.

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (rib) was diagnosed with a left-rib fracture on July 19 and was placed on the 10-day injured list. Bohm is feeling better now, though, and ran, threw, took dry swings, hit off a practice tee and fielded ground balls on Tuesday before the game in Chicago against the White Sox, according to MLB.com. If Bohm can avoid a setback once he begins ramping up even further, he could come off the IL by mid-August, but he's likely going to require a minor-league rehab assignment first. For however much longer the 28-year-old remains out, rookie Otto Kemp should remain the team's primary third baseman. Although Bohm has hit a decent .278 (98-for-353) this year, he's been a disappointment overall with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 92 games after he was a first-time All-Star in 2024.

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (foot) will sit out for the series finale against his former team, the San Diego Padres, on Wednesday. It will be the second time that Soto hasn't started in his first year with the Mets, but the team is going to give him a breather after he was pulled from Tuesday's loss early due to a left-foot contusion after he was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning. Jeff McNeil will start in right field and will bat fifth on Wednesday against Padres right-hander Yu Darvish. X-rays came back negative for any fractures on Soto's foot, so there's probably a good chance he'll be back for Friday's series opener against the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field after a scheduled day off on Thursday. McNeil has faced Darvish 17 times in his career and is hitting just .118 with a .564 OPS with one home run and four RBI. Check back on Friday to see if Soto is back in action.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Cincinnati Reds are acquiring third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, according to sources. The Reds will sent shortstop Sammy Stafura and left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers to the Pirates in exchange. Although Hayes has been a disappointment offensively since being taken in the first round in 2015, the 28-year-old is one of the best defensive third basemen in the league and has five years of club control after the 2025 campaign. Hayes should take over at third base in Cincy moving forward, which is bad news for Noelvi Marte. However, he has hit just .236/.279/.290 with two home runs in 100 games this year and won't really be an offensive upgrade as the Reds look to make a run at a wild-card spot. Still, Hayes' minimal fantasy appeal is on the rise with the move to a better ballpark and lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez (ankle) is expected to begin running the bases by Friday in Toronto, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. Gimenez could begin a minor-league rehab assignment shortly after that if all goes well. The 26-year-old infielder has been out since early July with a sprained left ankle, but if he doesn't have any setbacks, he could be cleared to come off the 10-day injured list by the middle of next week. When fully healthy, Gimenez is the regular starting first baseman for Toronto, although he's a better defender than he is on offense. The Venezuelan left-handed hitter is batting just .218 (46-for-211) on the year with five home runs, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and 10 stolen bases, making him mostly a middle-infield depth piece for his modest speed in AL-only fantasy formats.

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) is tentatively on track to play in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, which puts him on track to be activated from the seven-day injured list on Sunday if all goes well over the next few games, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. A foul tip to Kirk's mask last weekend ended up giving him a minor concussion, but he's made good progress and could rejoin Toronto's lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. The trade market for Minnesota Twins closer Jhoan Duran is heating up, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, with the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox being among the many teams pursuing him. Heyman also lists the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Seattle Mariners as other teams in the mix. The 27-year-old Dominican right-hander is extremely attractive at this year's trade deadline and would be a huge upgrade for any team's bullpen for the stretch run. Duran throws over 100 mph and has a 2.01 ERA (2.49 FIP), a 1.18 WHIP, 16 saves and a 53:18 K:BB in 49 1/3 relief innings this year in his fourth season with the Twins. He has 74 career saves and could become even more valuable in fantasy, depending on where he is traded. If Duran is traded, Griffin Jax or Louis Varland could see save chances for the Twins.

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (ribs) will play shortstop in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday and could come off the injured list to rejoin the Astros before Friday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Pena went 0-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored as the designated hitter for Sugar Land in his first rehab game on Tuesday. The Astros aren't expecting the 27-year-old to need many games in the minors before having him rejoin the big-league squad this weekend. The Los Angeles Angels acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin and right-handed reliever Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league first baseman Sam Brown and left-hander Jake Eder, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Chicago Cubs at American Family Field. Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri struck out six hitters across six innings on Tuesday evening, facing Double-A Binghamton. This was his second-straight start in which he tossed six shutout innings. Since the start of the month (23 innings), Aldegheri has been very productive on the bump, posting an elite 0.76 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. During this stretch, Aldegheri has struck out 19 hitters but has allowed 10 walks. Earlier this season, the southpaw was in his second taste of the majors but allowed seven runs (five earned) across 4 1/3 innings of work. During the 2024 season, Aldegheri made his MLB debut and held a 4.85 ERA through 13 innings. Given his recent stretch, Aldegheri could be bumped up to Triple-A in the near future.
