Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (forearm) was pulled from Sunday night's game early against the Atlanta Braves with a right-forearm contusion, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Mitchell was hit by a pitch in his right forearm in the fourth inning and was replaced in center field by Luis Lara the following inning. He avoided any significant damage to his forearm and should be considered day-to-day by fantasy managers. Before leaving early, Mitchell was hitless with a strikeout and the hit-by-pitch. With a scheduled day off coming for Milwaukee on Monday, the left-handed-hitting outfielder could be ready to go by Tuesday's series opener in New York against the Mets, although the Brew Crew will be facing left-hander Zac Thornton in that contest. Mitchell has a lengthy injury history in just his fifth MLB season, but he's played in a career-high 117 games in 2026 and entered Sunday's tilt with a .263/.359/.423 slash line, .782 OPS, nine homers, 54 RBI, 12 steals, and 54 runs scored in 427 plate appearances. The former UCLA star has hit .279 (22-for-79) against lefties, but with only one of his nine homers on the year. Mitchell also has just one homer since the All-Star break.

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed right-hander Michael Soroka (arm) back on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with inflammation in his right arm, but the team is hopeful he'll be ready to return to their starting rotation when he's eligible, according to Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. "He's going to hopefully be ready on Day 16. The plan is to get him a couple days down, get him back on the bump and miss as few days as possible," manager Torey Lovullo said. The move to put the 29-year-old back on the IL came after Soroka surrendered six runs and three walks in 3 1/3 innings pitched in his start on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. It is frustrating for fantasy managers after Soroka already missed two months with a glute injury, but the good news is he will be back to close out the 2026 campaign in September. In his three starts since returning from his glute injury on Aug. 10, Soroka allowed eight earned runs on 15 hits while walking seven and striking out 12 in 13 1/3 innings. Soroka was having a resurgent 2026 season before his glute injury in Arizona, and he is now 8-4 with a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 91:24 K:BB in 95 1/3 frames across 18 starts.

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo (shoulder) said he is encouraged coming out of a bullpen session on Sunday, according to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. Woo never thought his season was in jeopardy after being pushed back from his scheduled start against the Chicago Cubs this weekend, but he wants to be cautious about pushing through discomfort in his right shoulder. No decision has been made about when he will make his next start. The M's pulled the 26-year-old after just 75 pitches in his most recent start last Sunday against the division-rival Houston Astros, when he allowed only two earned runs with a walk and five strikeouts in six innings for his ninth win of the year. Woo allowed 10 earned runs in 10 innings to the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers in his last two starts in July, but he has given up just two earned runs with three walks and 15 K's in his three starts so far in August. Seattle has an upcoming three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, followed by a three-game series next weekend in Toronto against the Jays.

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday, according to Isaac Azout of Fish on First. To make room for Stowers on the major-league roster, the Marlins are optioning Deyvison De Los Santos to the minors, according to a source. Even though Stowers did not go on a minor-league rehab assignment, he should be back in the team's starting nine for Monday's series opener at home against the visiting Boston Red Sox and left-hander Ranger Suarez. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder last played for the Fish on Aug. 9 when he strained his left hamstring. The former second-rounder by the Baltimore Orioles in 2019 out of Stanford University will be returning to a .242/.327/.462 slash line with a .788 OPS, 16 home runs, 52 RBI, 44 runs scored, and a stolen base in 351 at-bats in his second full season with the Marlins. Stowers has not lived up to his breakout campaign from a year ago, when he hit .288 (115-for-399) with 25 home runs, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five steals in 117 games played.

San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames (elbow) left Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox early in the fifth inning with a left-elbow injury, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. It is a new injury for Adames, who has also missed time recently with a recurring back injury. Before leaving, Adames went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a strikeout. Christian Koss shifted from third base to the 6, with infielder Buddy Kennedy entering the game to play third base for the Gigantes. The belief is that Adames injured his elbow on a slide into home plate in the first inning of the team's eventual loss at Fenway Park. Although the 30-year-old Dominican veteran entered Sunday's series finale hitting just .229 (106-for-462) on the season, he has at least one hit in his last 11 contests, hitting .333 with three homers, four RBI, five runs scored, and a steal in that span. Fantasy managers should consider the veteran shortstop to be day-to-day and check back on his status before Monday's series opener at home versus the Cincinnati Reds. If Adames misses more time, Koss will likely take over at shortstop for San Fran.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (knee) could be back on the mound as early as next Sunday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. The Dodgers are considering having Ohtani return to the mound and throw one inning versus the Detroit Tigers next Sunday. Ohtani threw a 30-pitch live batting practice session on Saturday. He hasn't pitched in a big league game since July 3 due to a lingering knee issue. The Dodgers don't have a starter announced for next Sunday, so it sounds like Ohtani could be the opener for that game. The team will likely continue to build him up throughout the final month of the season ahead of the playoffs. Fantasy managers might not get a ton out of Ohtani as a pitcher during September, but his return to the mound is positive.

Seattle Mariners infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan (concussion) was placed on the 7-day concussion Injured List, retroactive to August 22. This comes a day after Donovan was hit in the head while in the batting cage before Saturday's game. He'll now be sidelined for at least the next week while he goes through the league's concussion protocols. In a corresponding move, third baseman Patrick Wisdom was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to replace Donovan on the roster. Weston Wilson will operate at third base during Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

According to Scott Merkin, Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel (ankle) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Teel has been out since late July due to a left ankle sprain. He has progressed quickly and is cleared for the final step of his rehab program. The expectation is that Teel won't need more than a few games before he'll be ready to rejoin the White Sox lineup. He should return as the No. 1 catcher once he's back in the mix, which will mean reduced roles for Drew Romo and Jake Rogers. Teel could be worth stashing in deep leagues for fantasy managers needing help at the catcher spot.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (knee) could pitch in a game as early as next week, according to Dylan Hernandez. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the news on Sunday that Ohtani is nearly ready to get back on the mound. The right-hander threw a 30-pitch live batting practice session on Saturday. That marked the first time that Ohtani had pitched since being shut down because of his knee issues last month. Ohtani has pitched in a game since July 3, but he has been incredible on the mound when he was healthy. Ohtani owns a 1.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 95/26 K/BB ratio across 85.2 innings of work this season. He'll continue to serve as the designated hitter until he's ready to get back on the mound.

Milwaukee Brewers corner infield prospect Luke Adams returned from the IL and played for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday night. Adams was 0-for-1 with two walks in his return to the lineup for the Sounds after he was out since August 9. The 22-year-old has been solid in the minor leagues this season with 16 homers and 42 RBI in 216 at bats with Nashville while hitting .259 with 48 runs scored and eight steals. Adams is the No. 13 prospect in the Brewers' system and has a 50-grade hit tool with 50-grade power. He profiles more as a consistent, steady hitter rather than a league-winner in fantasy leagues. If he is called up this season, he doesn't possess the upside to be a difference-maker for fantasy managers. He would be a risky addition to fantasy teams because of this and the fact that he is returning from injury.

With the forearm injury to Ryan Weathers, New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez could return to the Yankees starting rotation from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rodriguez is having a great month of August with three starts of two earned runs or fewer at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. His last outing on August 18 saw Rodriguez go five innings allowing just one run with six hits, no walks, and five strikeouts. Rodriguez had a stint with the Yankees this season in which he started four games and went 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched. The right-hander is the No. 3 prospect in the Yankees organization and has three 55-grade pitches in his fastball, changeup, and curveball. The Yankees could call up Rodriguez to replace Weathers in the rotation. For now they have called up Brendan Beck as a bulk reliever but could turn to Rodriguez eventually.

In 18 games with Triple-A El Paso, San Diego Padres catcher prospect Ethan Salas is hitting .338 with three homers and 20 RBI in an impressive showing since his July 29 promotion from Double-A San Antonio. The 20-year-old left-handed hitter is the top overall prospect in the Padres' system and is considered one of the top prospects in baseball. Considered an excellent fielder with a 50-grade hit tool and 50-grade power and the ability to play behind the plate, he is a can't miss prospect for the Padres. San Diego currently has Luis Campusano and Freddy Fermin available at catcher and could just close the season out with those two. Salas would bring great upside to fantasy rosters this season, but he is more likely to debut next season and get some more time at Triple-A this season.

Pittsburgh Pirates outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia was recently optioned back to Triple-A Indianapolis and just landed on the 7-day IL with an unspecified injury. Garcia spent a stint in the major leagues with the Pirates but was sent back down to Indianapolis on August 14 after he was called up on July 29. With the PIrates, Garcia played in 20 games this season and hit .167 with no homers and two RBI. In the minors between two levels this season, the talented right-handed hitter combined to hit 10 homers with 36 RBI with a .276 batting average in 244 at bats. The injury setback hurts Garcia's chances of returning to Pittsburgh and spending time with the big-league club again this season. He did little in his first MLB stint and likely will not get another one until at least next season.

Cincinnati Reds prospect Edwin Arroyo had a stint with the Reds earlier this season but has just put in a productive month of August back at Triple-A Louisville. Arroyo hit four homers with nine RBI this month while hitting .305 back in the minors. He made a good case for himself to make a return to the major leagues with Cincinnati. The infielder had a stint in the majors in July and hit .244 with no homers and five RBI in 131 major-league at bats. Aside from his month-long MLB stint, Arroyo has played all of his ball at Triple-A this season, hitting 15 homers with 43 RBI to go with 13 stolen bases and a .319 batting average in 276 at bats with Louisville. He earned his first call up and based on how he's hitting for Louisville, he might get another chance this season. Fantasy managers will want to play close attention to how Cincinnati handles Arroyo's situation.

New York Mets pitching prospect Jonah Tong is coming off his third straight solid start in a row at Triple-A Syracuse. He's given up one run or less in his past three outings at Triple-A and on Saturday night he pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings with three hits, two walks, and three strikeouts on his way to picking up the victory. He lowered his ERA this month to 3.26 and his overall minor-league ERA to 4.86. After a good month of July, Tong has had a nice month of August at Triple-A after making a big-league appearance at the end of May and early June. Tong appeared three times out of the bullpen for the Mets in his big-league stint, pitching 10 innings and giving up four earned runs. Tong looks like he could get back to New York the way he is pitching now in the minors. He's a decent bet to get a few starts this season and has nice upside for fantasy managers.

The Kansas City Royals announced that first baseman/outfielder Jac Caglianone (ankle) has been scratched from Sunday's starting lineup against the division-rival Detroit Tigers due to ankle soreness. John Rave will make the start in right field for KC and will bat sixth against Tigers right-hander Jacob Waguespack. Caglianone left Wednesday's contest early against the Athletics with a right-ankle injury and was also kept out in the series finale on Thursday. Apparently, the left-handed slugger is not over his ankle injury and will miss another game, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. The next opportunity he will have to play will be for Monday's series opener in Toronto against the Blue Jays. The 23-year-old former sixth overall pick from the University of Florida in 2024 got off to a slow start in 2026 in his first full year in the majors, but he's rebounded nicely and has become a must-start for his left-handed power in KC. Cags currently holds a .276/.328/.491 slash line, an .819 OPS, 22 homers, 60 RBI, 59 runs scored, and six steals in his 434 at-bats.

Washington Nationals middle infielder CJ Abrams (ankle) is missing a fourth straight game on Sunday in the series finale in Miami against the division-rival Marlins, according to MLB.com. Nasim Nunez is at shortstop and is batting eighth, while Jose Tena will make another start at second and bat fifth for the Nats against Marlins right-hander Janson Junk. Abrams could be a candidate to land on the 10-day injured list early next week after spraining his left ankle in Wednesday's contest against the Texas Rangers. Fantasy managers will want to check back on his status on Monday before the start of a new series at home against the Colorado Rockies. The 25-year-old former first-rounder was recently asked to move from shortstop to second base, and although Abrams was not happy about the organization's decision, he is willing to do what is best for the franchise. Offensively, Abrams is in the midst of a career year and has been a must-start in all fantasy leagues, slashing .279/.354/.530 with an .884 OPS, 29 homers, 91 RBI, 24 steals, and 77 runs scored across his 124 games and 534 plate appearances in his fifth year in the majors.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Saturday that right-handed reliever Edwin Diaz (neck) will be eased back into a lower-leverage role in the team's bullpen once he returns from the 15-day injured list in September, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. Diaz, the Dodgers' big free-agent acquisition last offseason, has only appeared in 16 games in his first year with the team in 2026 due to elbow and neck injuries, and he has been bad when he has been available. The 32-year-old Puerto Rican hurler and three-time All-Star currently has an 11.85 ERA (6.01 FIP), 2.56 WHIP, seven saves, 19 strikeouts, and 10 walks in 13 2/3 innings pitched. Diaz will be eased in next month when he returns as the Dodgers look to get him right for the postseason, but with just over a month left in the campaign, it's fair for fantasy managers to wonder if he's even worth holding in redraft leagues. The good news is that Diaz's neck injury is not believed to be serious, and he has a chance to come off the injured list around when he is eligible to return on Sept. 2. In the meantime, lefty reliever Tanner Scott will continue to be Roberts' leading candidate for saves.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start on Tuesday in Atlanta against the Braves, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Glasnow will finally return to the Dodgers' starting rotation after giving up only two runs with 20 strikeouts and four walks in 13 2/3 innings in his four minor-league rehab starts. He had been on the injured list since May 8 due to lower-back spasms. The 33-year-old hard-throwing right-hander got up to 77 pitches in his final rehab outing, so he's close to being fully stretched out, although fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers have a short leash on him in his first outing back next week in Atlanta in a tough matchup against the Braves. Now that he is on the verge of a return to L.A., Glasnow should be rostered in most fantasy baseball leagues for his high-end strikeout upside to close out the year. Before hurting his back, the former All-Star had gone 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with 49 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched over his first seven starts of the 2026 season.

The San Diego Padres announced that right-hander Casey Mize (ankle) left his start early on Saturday at Petco Park against the Minnesota Twins with a sprained right ankle. Before being pulled, Mize struggled on the mound, allowing four earned runs on four hits (three home runs) while walking one and striking out none in 2 2/3 innings pitched. The 29-year-old's next scheduled start next weekend on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays is now up in the air and will depend on how he recovers over the next few days. The former first overall pick in 2018 from Auburn has gone 5-7 on the season with a 3.44 ERA (3.28 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with a career-high 139 strikeouts and 36 walks in 149 innings pitched across his 28 starts with the Padres and Detroit Tigers. Since being acquired by the Friars at the Aug. 3 trade deadline, Mize has struggled in four starts for San Diego, allowing 14 earned runs on 21 hits (five homers) while walking seven and fanning 10 in 18 innings. If he is cleared to make his next start, he will have a difficult matchup on tap on the road against the first-place Rays.
