Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) has been transferred from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL, according to the team. The move was made to open a spot on the 40-man roster for reliever Jesse Chavez. The announcement comes as no surprise, as Schwellenbach has been diagnosed with a fracture in his pitching elbow and will not resume throwing until the fracture heals. Until that point, there will not be a firm timetable for his return, but this injury is now guaranteed to keep him out until late this season at the earliest. It's a rough blow for Atlanta, as Schwellenbach was in the midst of an excellent season. In 110 2/3 IP (17 starts), he was 7-4 with a 3.09 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 108 strikeouts.

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg is getting the day off on Sunday when his team faces the Atlanta Braves. Westburg has played each of Baltimore's last two games after returning from a left index finger injury, so this is likely just a rest day. Injuries have been an issue for him this season, as he's been limited to just 156 plate appearances so far in 2025. Westburg has slashed .243/.301/.479 with nine home runs, 17 RBI, and 23 runs scored in the time he's been on the field, largely in line with his career norms.

The Atlanta Braves have recalled veteran reliever Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Gwinnett. In corresponding moves, the team optioned left-hander Dylan Dodd to Triple-A and transferred starter Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL. The 41-year-old Chavez last appeared in a game for Atlanta in late April. In 30 2/3 minor league innings so far this season, he's recorded a 2.05 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with a 19.2% K-BB%. Chavez has pitched in the majors for the Braves in each of the last five seasons and should be called upon to eat innings in middle relief.

Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres (neck) is out of the lineup against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Torres left Saturday's 1-0 loss early with a neck contusion. The good news is that it's not a significant injury, as Torres expects to be available to pinch-hit Sunday if the Tigers need him. The former Yankee, 28, has been a key part of Detroit's lineup in his first year with the team. He's slashing .279/.387/.424 with nine homers, 44 RBI, 46 runs scored, and four stolen bases over 331 plate appearances. Colt Keith will take Torres' place at the keystone on Sunday.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II is out of the Braves lineup on Sunday as his team faces the Baltimore Orioles. The left-handed hitting Harris will get a rest against Baltimore lefty Trevor Rogers. It's been a rough season for Harris against both left and right-handed pitchers, as he's posted a .212/.236/.319 slash line in 346 plate appearances. Harris' 6.5% barrel rate and 39.5% hard-hit rate are both career lows, as is his 2.9% walk rate. Harris is still a decent source of speed (12 stolen bases), but there's no question he's been a major disappointment for fantasy managers so far in 2025.

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired catcher Alex Jackson from the New York Yankees for international signing bonus pool money and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Jackson will take the roster spot of catcher Gary Sanchez (knee), who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right knee. The team cleared 40-man roster room for Jackson by moving Jorge Mateo (hamstring) to the 60-day IL. Jackson is joining the Orioles with the team having recently lost fellow backstops Sanchez, Adley Rutschman, Maverick Handley, and Chadwick Tromp to the IL. He'll join Jacob Stallings to comprise Baltimore's backstop duo. The Seattle Mariners used the sixth overall pick in the draft on Jackson back in 2014, but he hasn't been able to establish himself in the bigs with a handful of organizations. Now 29 years old, Jackson has batted a woeful .132/.224/.232 with six home runs in 340 plate appearances in the majors.

Additionally, the Orioles have acquired catcher Alex Jackson from the New York Yankees for international signing bonus pool money and a player to be named later or cash considerations. To make room for Jackson, the Orioles moved infielder/outfielder Jorge Mateo (hamstring) from the 10-day IL to the 60-day version. Sanchez is hitting the IL for the second time this year after missing all of May and half of June with wrist inflammation. The 32-year-old has been a regular presence in the O's lineup lately with starting backstop Adley Rutschman on the IL, but now he'll be unavailable for at least 10 days. Sanchez has hit .231/.297/.418 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 101 plate appearances.

The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-hander Chad Patrick to Triple-A Nashville. His roster spot is going to righty Brandon Woodruff (elbow), who's back from the 60-day injured list. The team also transferred outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) to the 60-day IL. Unfortunately for Patrick, he's the odd man out of Milwaukee's rotation with Woodruff set to make his season debut Sunday against the Miami Marlins. Despite a 3-7 record, Patrick has fared well as a rookie over 19 appearances and 18 starts. The 26-year-old has pitched to a 3.52 ERA with 95:30 K:BB and a 1.30 WHIP in 94 2/3 innings. He looks like a major league-caliber starter and should be back in the bigs later this year.

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Aidan Miller went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, one RBI, one run scored, and a stolen base for Double-A Reading. Over his last six games, the Phils' second-ranked prospect is 8-for-21 (.381) including two doubles, a triple, a home run, a 5:8 BB:K, and he's stolen a base in five of the six contests. He's now hitting .243 with seven home runs and boasting a .358 OBP thanks to a strong 14.3 percent walk rate, while adding 31 stolen bases over 63 games for Reading. With continued success, the 21-year-old could see some time at Triple-A later this year, and has the tools to be a worthwhile watch in dynasty formats.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced that they have activated right-hander Brandon Woodruff (elbow) from the 60-day injured list. The team optioned righty Chad Patrick to Triple-A Nashville and transferred outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) to the 60-day IL in corresponding moves. Woodruff will make his long-awaited return Sunday in a start against the Miami Marlins. The 32-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since September 2023. He missed all of last season as a result of shoulder surgery and has dealt with ankle and elbow issues while working back to the bigs this year. Woodruff established himself in Milwaukee's rotation in 2019 and has put up front-line numbers when healthy enough to take the mound. He's the owner of a career 3.10 ERA and has averaged 10.42 strikeouts per nine innings, but it may be unrealistic to expect that type of production after almost two full years away.

The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled right-hander Joe Boyle from Triple-A Durham and optioned lefty Joe Rock. Boyle is back in the majors for the first time since he posted an excellent start against the Atlanta Braves on April 13. He gave up two runs (both unearned) on no hits while striking out seven and walking two to earn the victory in that game. The 25-year-old has also held his own over a much larger sample size in the minors this season. Boyle has pitched to a microscopic 1.85 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 31 walks over 73 innings with Durham. It's unclear whether the Rays plan to start Boyle at some point before the All-Star break or use him in relief.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is getting a breather on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles. Stuart Fairchild is starting in his place in right field and batting eighth against Orioles left-hander Tyler Rogers. Acuna is sitting amid an 11-game home run drought, and he hasn't recorded an RBI in nine contests. The 27-year-old is just 3-for-19 with eight strikeouts, three walks, and no extra-base hits in five games this month. Despite his recent skid, Acuna is still slashing .333/.452/.565 with nine homers, 18 RBI, 34 runs scored, and four steals in 168 plate appearances.

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna is not in the team's lineup Sunday versus the Baltimore Orioles. Drake Baldwin will take over at DH and bat sixth against Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers. It's a rare day off for Ozuna, who has started all but three of Atlanta's 88 games this season. The 34-year-old slugger has been stuck in a severe slump over the past month-plus. In 31 games since June 1, Ozuna has hit .171 (20-for-117) with two home runs. He has been stuck on 11 homers for a 20-game span dating back to June 13.

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen went 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles for Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, driving in one run, scoring three times, and stealing one base in the process. The Royals' third-ranked prospect was hitting the cover off of the ball at Double-A, and although he's just 8-for-40 (.200) at Triple-A, all eight hits have gone for extra bases (three doubles, five home runs). The 22-year-old could find himself in the big leagues later this season, and with the kind of pop he's shown, the left-handed slugger could be an intriguing waiver add were he to get the call, but he would need regular at-bats in the majors and the power may come at the cost of batting average. Either way, it's worth keeping an eye on how he performs over the next several weeks to see if he becomes a worthy stash candidate in AL-only and two-catcher leagues.

Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Owen Caissie hammered another two solo home runs on Saturday for Triple-A Iowa in a 2-for-4 day at the plate. Over the last five games, Caissie has belted five home runs while hitting .444 (8-for-18) with seven walks to just three strikeouts. The improving strikeout rate is welcome progress as he owned a 32.2 percent strikeout rate coming into this five-game stretch. The walk rate has been strong all season, currently standing at 14.0 percent, helping him to a .382 OBP. Now hitting .273 with 16 home runs and a .933 OPS, the Cubs' top prospect continues to bide his time until there is an opening with the major league club. The 22-year-old will likely make his MLB debut in the second half, but it could take an injury for that to happen with Chicago's outfield crowded at the moment.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Cody Poteet (shoulder) recently received an injection on his injured shoulder. The hope is that Poteet has a positive reaction to the injection and can begin throwing within the next few days. The right-hander has been sidelined since late April due to right shoulder inflammation. The assumption is that Poteet will require multiple rehab outings before becoming an option for the O's. At best, Poteet could return by the end of July, but August seems like a better timetable. Poteet isn't someone that needs to be rostered right now in fantasy formats.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jonny DeLuca (shoulder) has resumed baseball activities, but hasn't started a minor league rehab assignment yet. DeLuca has been out since early April due to a shoulder injury. It has been a struggle since then with DeLuca suffering multiple setbacks while attempting to rehab. The hope is that DeLuca can begin another rehab assignment within the next week. There is no current timetable for his return to the field. DeLuca has potential to be a contributor in at least deep leagues, but isn't someone that needs to be rostered at the moment.

Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitchers Justin Lawrence (elbow) and Tim Mayza (shoulder) appear to be making progress in their recovery process. Both pitchers have been out since late April, but are finally making decent progress. They've progressed to throwing from 120 feet with good velocity and intensity, according to senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk. Both pitchers figure to require minor league rehab assignments before returning to the mound in Pittsburgh. The hope is that both of them can be back in the mix by the late of July. Neither pitcher offers much fantasy value as low leverage options out of the bullpen.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Cade Povich (hip) was able to play catch without any issues on Saturday. This is good news for the right-hander who has been out since mid-June due to left hip soreness. The Orioles shut down Povich last week after he was hit hard during a rehab outing. A second opinion confirmed the same injury, so Povich isn't dealing with anything new. There remains no timetable for his return to the mound. He'll likely still need to ramp up for a few weeks before returning to the mound. Povich might not be back in the mix until August. He's not worth holding through the injury in fantasy leagues.

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez (hip) has progressed his rehab from the Complex League to Single-A Fort Myers. The Twins' second-ranked prospect injured his hip and has been out of action since May 30. He's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with a pair of doubles and a 3:7 BB:K in six rehab games (one at Single-A), and was slashing .232/.400/.392 in 39 games at Triple-A prior to the injury. Known for his big-time power and an elite ability to draw walks, the 22-year-old still has time to get back on track and push for a major league debut this season. However, with his big power comes a lot of swing-and-miss, which would likely not get better in the majors, so fantasy managers should take a cautious approach with him once he gets the call.
