The 27-year-old hasn't pitched since undergoing the procedure in December of 2023. Oviedo still aims to rejoin the big-league squad after the All-Star break, as he'll need an extended minor-league rehab assignment to build back up his strength. The Cuban native flashed his upside back in 2022, boasting a 3.21 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 21 appearances (eight starts). However, he declined over a larger sample (32 starts) before his injury (4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP).

Chris Hatfield of SoxProspects.com reports that Boston Red Sox reliever Nick Burdi (foot) hasn't pitched during his rehab assignment since last Sunday and was removed from the team's MiLB.com roster this past Wednesday. That could have signaled that the 32-year-old may have been activated from the injured list over the weekend, though that didn't come to fruition. There's been no further news on Burdi, which leaves the door open to the notion that he suffered a setback during his progression. He's been shelved on the 15-day IL since June 3 with a foot contusion. It's a situation to monitor until we get more news. The veteran hadn't allowed an earned run through four appearances (5 1/3 innings).

Per the team, San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) has shed his splint and resumed taking one-handed swings in the batting cage. Chapman was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 10 after spraining ligaments in his hand, and continues to progress well from the ailment. It's the next step for the veteran, as he aims to rejoin the big-league squad sometime before the All-Star break, and should do so barring any setbacks. Despite the addition of fellow hot-corner occupant Rafael Devers, the 32-year-old should return to his spot at third base, as Devers has started at DH in each appearance since his arrival.

The Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara reports that Houston Astros starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) could throw a side session off the mound on Tuesday. The New Mexico native has been on the shelf since early April when he broke his right thumb after taking a hit during batting practice. When Arrighetti does retake the mound, it'll be his first instance since the injury. He still has a few boxes to check before rejoining the team's rotation, which likely won't occur until sometime following the All-Star break next month. Still, he'll be a welcome sight to Houston's pitching staff upon his arrival.

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen (forearm) has returned to throwing his full pitch mix as he recovers from a sprained right forearm, according to the team. The Dodgers are hopeful that Treinen will return sometime in July. They've gone most of the season without Treinen, who landed on the 10-day injured list on April 9 and was later transferred to the 60-day IL. Before suffering his injury, Treinen threw eight innings of three-run ball with 10 strikeouts, three walks, three holds, and two saves. The 36-year-old has a long track record of effectiveness as both a setup man and a closer. He should be on fantasy radars as a result.

San Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove (elbow) has recently progressed to throwing from 105 feet, according to the team. It's a notable step in the right direction in Musgrove's recovery from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last October. Musgrove will miss the entire season as a result, but he's currently on track to return in 2026 for his age-34 campaign. A Padre since 2021, Musgrove has made 97 starts with the club and put up a 3.20 ERA with 9.41 K/9 and 2.25 BB/9 in 559 1/3 innings. He's likely to have a difficult time approaching that type of production in his return from surgery next season.

The Athletics announced Sunday that they transferred right-hander Gunnar Hoglund (hip) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL. They selected the contract of righty Jack Perkins from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned RHP Anthony Maldonado to Triple-A in corresponding moves. The Hoglund move was expected after he underwent season-ending hip surgery earlier this month. The 25-year-old made six starts for the Athletics this season and struggled to a 6.40 ERA with 23:11 K:BB over 32 1/3 innings. Hoglund, MLB Pipeline's 14th-ranked A's prospect, is expected to make a full recovery in time for 2026.

Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland (back) expects to return from the 15-day injured list Friday to make a road start against the Milwaukee Brewers. Freeland has been out just under two weeks with stiffness in his lower back, but he's recovering quickly. While the 32-year-old has logged a below-average 5.13 ERA over 73 2/3 innings this season, he did pitch better before landing on the IL. Freeland put together three straight quality starts and combined to allow six earned runs on 18 hits with 13:2 K:BB across 18 1/3 innings from May 30-June 11. The Brewers will be a tough matchup in his first game back, but Freeland has pitched a lot better on the road than at home this season. He owns a 3.64 ERA with 30:5 K:BB in 42 innings away from Coors Field.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize (leg) exited his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday with what appeared to be a leg injury. It turns out the Tigers removed Mize because of cramping, manager A.J. Hinch said. Expectations are that Mize will make his next scheduled start Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Before exiting a 9-3 win over the Rays, Mize threw five innings of one-run ball with six hits allowed and five strikeouts against no walks. It was the latest solid performance for the former No. 1 overall pick, who has gone 7-2 and amassed 72 innings of 2.88 ERA pitching with 64:18 K:BB and a 1.24 WHIP.

Boston Red Sox right-hander Jordan Hicks (toe) struggled Sunday in his first rehab outing with Triple-A Worcester. Hicks, working as an opener for Worcester, was unable to get through an inning. He recorded two outs and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk. He was then lifted after 23 pitches, only 10 of which were strikes. Hicks, who's working back from inflammation in his right big toe, figures to make at least one more appearance with Worcester before joining the Red Sox. When he does get the call to Boston, he'll be making his debut with the club. The Red Sox acquired Hicks from the San Francisco Giants on June 15 as part of a trade centering on Rafael Devers. Hicks divided his time with the Giants this season between the rotation and bullpen. He's likely to work in relief for the Red Sox.

Toronto Blue Jays veteran right-hander Max Scherzer (thumb) threw between 30 and 40 pitches in his bullpen on Sunday. Confirmed he'll pitch Wednesday in Cleveland. "My stuff is fine," he told reporters. "I'm trying everything I can to manage this (thumb) and make sure I can recover"There's no knowing, have to get out there," Hazel Mae, Toronto Blue Jays sportscaster, reports. Interesting choice of words for Scherzer, as it seems he may still have some lingering issues with that thumb, but it appears he is getting to a point where he wants to contribute and throw with the big league club and continue to manage it. Scherzer threw 4 1/3 shutout innings and struck out eight batters in his recent outing with Triple-A Buffalo on June 18, and with the completed bullpen on Sunday, it appears Scherzer is ready to give it a go. He is built up, considering he threw 75 pitches in his last rehab start, but fantasy managers should plan on the Blue Jays likely keeping close tabs on his workload in the short term.

Minnesota Twins utility man, Willi Castro (wrist), is expected to miss at least one or two more games with a sore right wrist, but an X-ray on his injury was negative, MLB.com reports. Castro was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to the issue, and he reportedly experienced wrist pain since Thursday. There is a risk that he could land on the injured list if it doesn't improve in the next few days; however, for now, he is still considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his progress and see if he's available for a pinch-hit or back in the lineup by mid-week. DaShawn Keirsey Jr., Kody Clemens, and Jonah Bride are the most likely candidates to see more playing time in Castro's absence. On the season, Castro is slashing a solid .280/.362/.456 in 193 at-bats.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) tossed two scoreless and hitless innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. He walked three batters and struck out one. In the outing, he generated six whiffs and threw 22 of 48 pitches for strikes, Blake Harris, beat writer for the Dodgers, reports. Glasnow struggled with his command in this outing, walking three batters and throwing less than 50 percent of his pitches for strikes; however, he did top out at 98.3 mph and threw nearly 50 pitches in his first rehab assignment, which is good news for fantasy managers. In addition, this was Glasnow's first time taking the mound since injuring his shoulder on April 27, so, understandably, there was some rust. It seems likely that the Dodgers will want to give Glasnow another couple of rehab outings before bringing him back up to join the big league club. Still, overall, this is encouraging news for fantasy managers who have been stashing him on their IL spot since late April.

Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) next start will likely be with the big league club, not on a rehab assignment. It probably won't be in Baltimore, but playing at home against Seattle on Friday sounds reasonable, Kennedi Landry, Rangers' beat writer, reports. Eovaldi threw a 50-pitch simulated game last Friday, and by what Bochy mentioned, it appears that the Rangers were content with the simulated game and don't feel Eovaldi needs to complete a rehab assignment to get back in the rotation. Considering he only threw 50 pitches in the simulated game, it's likely that if Eovaldi starts on Friday, he will be on a pitch count. Regardless, fantasy managers will be pleased to get Eovaldi back in their lineups, as he has been dominant in 2025 with a 1.56 ERA, 73 strikeouts, and a 0.81 WHIP in 69 1/3 innings pitched.

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo mentioned that outfielder Corbin Carroll will get an MRI on his left hand tomorrow in Chicago. Per Lovullo, Carroll's hand is getting better, and he was an option to pinch-hit Sunday. Still, after the situation with Moreno, they want to be extra cautious, Steve Gilbert, beat writer for the Diamondbacks, reports. Carroll exited the contest on June 18 against the Toronto Blue Jays after being struck on the left hand by a pitch, and proceeded to sit the rest of the week. Initial X-rays came back negative, and the fact that he was available to pinch-hit on Sunday is an encouraging sign; however, being sent for an MRI after not playing for four consecutive days is less than ideal. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on news regarding MRI results. Tim Tawa and Randal Grichuk have been seeing additional playing time in Carroll's absence.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker had a productive game in a 14-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Tucker went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI, but it wasn't enough in the lopsided loss to Seattle. The veteran launched a two-run homer in the seventh inning, a blast that traveled 422 feet with an exit velocity of 102.8 MPH. Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Josue De Paula went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and three stolen bases during their contest against High-A Peoria on Sunday. This was his second-straight contest going deep. Over his last 11 contests, De Paula has swiped an impressive six bags in holding a 9:14 K:BB. Through 66 games with High-A Great Lakes this season, De Paula has posted a .275/.424/.463 line with 11 doubles, 10 home runs, and 22 stolen bases. This is an excellent sign as De Paula posted a much lower .254/.422/.356 line with just four long balls and 13 stolen bases through his first 52 games at High-A last season. De Paula should be in the mix to earn a promotion to Double-A, given his impressive development during the first half of the campaign.

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel had a huge game in an 8-7 loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday. Schanuel went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, and four RBI, but it wasn't quite enough in the one-run loss to Houston. The 23-year-old infielder gave the Angels a 5-4 lead with his three-run homer in the fifth inning, giving him six home runs on the season. Overall, Schanuel is slashing .283/.372/.412 with 39 runs, 30 RBI, and three steals across 272 at-bats on the season. Moniak is now slashing .245/.295/.500 with 11 homers, 27 runs, 27 RBI, and three steals across 192 at-bats for the Rockies. He has been red-hot at the plate of late, hitting .319 with six homers over his past 15 games.
