Zach Neto Wed Jun 25 1:20pm CT

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox, but The Athletic's Sam Blum reports that he's listed as available. Neto said that he was getting an MRI exam on Wednesday on his surgically-repaired right shoulder after he reinjured it on a slide in Tuesday's extra-inning win. Scott Kingery is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. It's good news that the 24-year-old Neto is available to play, but it doesn't mean he will necessarily avoid a trip to the injured list. The former first-rounder is on pace for a 30-homer, 30-steal season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a tough break for the Halos and fantasy managers. For however long Neto is out, expect Kingery and Kevin Newman to split time at shortstop.

Robert Suarez Wed Jun 25 1:10pm CT

San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez will drop his appeal after his suspension for hitting Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was reduced to two games, league sources tell The Athletic's Dennis Lin. Suarez initially received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from MLB last Friday after he was ejected on Thursday night for hitting Ohtani in the right shoulder in a game that featured a benches-clearing incident. The hard-throwing 34-year-old picked up his 22nd save of the season in the 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, but he could begin serving his two-game suspension in Wednesday's series finale. San Diego has Thursday off before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a three-game series that starts on Friday. If a save situation arises for the Friars with Suarez out, it could be lefty Adrian Morejon who gets the nod.

Jake Cronenworth Wed Jun 25 1:00pm CT

San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth will start Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals on the bench with a left-hander on the bump. Jose Iglesias will start at the keystone and hit seventh against Nationals southpaw MacKenzie Gore. Cronenworth will get his first day off since May 23 against a tough lefty. The left-handed-hitting infielder has gone 11-for-53 (.208) with two of his six home runs and 13 strikeouts in 63 plate appearances against lefties this season. In the month of June, he has hit a modest .241 (19-for-79) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, one steal and six runs scored in 23 games played. The 31-year-old two-time All-Star has provided modest power and counting stats as middle-infield depth in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. Iglesias has three hits in six career at-bats against Gore, but he's an unattractive DFS sleeper with virtually no upside.

    From RotoBaller

Roman Anthony Wed Jun 25 12:40pm CT

Boston Red Sox rookie outfielder Roman Anthony will head to the bench with a left-hander on the mound in Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Los Angeles Angels and southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Left-handed-hitting second baseman David Hamilton will also take a seat. Wilyer Abreu is starting in right field and batting fifth, Rob Refsnyder is the designated hitter and batting leadoff, and rookie Marcelo Mayer is playing second base and hitting eighth against Kikuchi. Anthony is one of the top prospects in all of baseball this year and should play regularly for the BoSox the rest of the way, but he's gotten off to a slow start to his major-league career, going 5-for-44 (.114) with a homer, five RBI, five runs scored, a steal and 14 strikeouts in 54 plate appearances over 14 games. Refsnyder is hitting .462 with two RBI in 13 career at-bats against Kikuchi and is worth a look as a DFS sleeper.

    From RotoBaller

Fernando Tatis Jr. Wed Jun 25 12:40pm CT

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is starting in right field and is batting cleanup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander MacKenzie Gore at Petco Park. With Tatis moving out of the cleanup spot for the first time all season, first baseman Luis Arraez will shift to the leadoff spot as the Padres continue to search for more offense. In 22 games in June, Tatis is hitting a pedestrian .250 (20-for-80) with two home run, four doubles, nine RBI, five steals and 18 runs scored. The 26-year-old two-time All-Star should have more opportunities to drive in runs but will be facing a pitcher in the midst of a breakout season. He's also struggled against lefties in 2025, going 13-for-74 (.176) with only one of his 15 home runs and 20 K's in 88 trips to the plate. Tatis has hit .200 with an RBI in just five career at-bats versus Gore.

Oneil Cruz Wed Jun 25 12:30pm CT

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz is being dropped to fifth in the batting order for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers and rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. It comes after Cruz was pulled from Tuesday's loss after not running out a double-play grounder in the seventh inning. Cruz claims he lost track of the outs. Manager Don Kelly cited Cruz's "energy and effort going down the line" for why he was pulled. The 26-year-old has hit just .156 (12-for-77) with 31 strikeouts in the month of June despite having a .911 OPS in early May. He's now hitting .208/.321/.404 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 26 steals in 71 games. Although Cruz is currently slumping, he's still an everyday fantasy asset in regular leagues. In DFS, though, managers may want to stay away while he's slumping against a young rookie pitcher who has looked unhittable in his first two MLB starts.

    From RotoBaller

    Ke'Bryan Hayes Wed Jun 25 12:30pm CT

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes is absent from the team's lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers on the road. Jared Triolo will take over at third and will hit seventh against Brewers rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. Hayes will put his current five-game hitting streak on hold for a rest day. The 28-year-old former first-rounder continues to mainly be a bust offensively, but he's gone 6-for-16 (.375) with three RBI and three runs scored during his modest hitting streak of late. Overall, though, there's little to like about his 2025 showing, as he's slashing .232/.284/.283 with only two long balls, 22 RBI, 22 runs and nine stolen bases in 272 at-bats as Pittsburgh's primary third baseman. Fantasy managers should be fading Triolo against Misiorowski, one of the top pitching prospects in baseball.

Marcell Ozuna Wed Jun 25 12:20pm CT

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna has been "included in a lot of trade speculation." Olney notes, however, that due to the veteran qualifying for 10-and-5 Rights, he'd be able to veto any trade set forth by the squad. Atlanta has their work cut out for them in the NL East with the Philadelphia Phillies up by double-digit games and the New York Mets right behind them in the standings. The Braves have a little more than a month to dig themselves out of their current hole and determine whether to sell or buy at the deadline. If Ozuna does find himself in new digs, it's hard to imagine he'll be in a better situation, lineup-wise, than he is now. He's regressed a bit this season while dealing with a hip tear, but still sports a solid .252/.385/.414 slash line with 11 homers.

    From RotoBaller

William Contreras Wed Jun 25 12:20pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras is sitting out of the series finale on Wednesday against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field. Eric Haase will do the catching for rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski and will bat in the nine-hole against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Contreras will get a breather against a tough pitcher after starting each of the team's last 17 games. The 27-year-old Venezuelan backstop has been quiet in the month of June, hitting .208 (15-for-72) with a homer, four doubles, eight RBI, 13 walks and 18 strikeouts in 87 trips to the plate over 20 games played. After making his second All-Star squad last year, he's been mostly a disappointment for fantasy managers in 2025, as he's currently slashing .241/.354/.348 with only six homers, 34 RBI and five steals. Haase is an easy fade on Wednesday against Skenes.

    From RotoBaller

Josh Naylor Wed Jun 25 12:10pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor (shoulder) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup for Wednesday's series finale in Chicago against the White Sox and right-hander Sean Burke. Naylor injured his right shoulder on a swing in Monday's win over the White Sox and was then scratched from Tuesday's lineup as a result. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger is feeling better now, though, and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. Naylor has faced Burke just once in his career and picked up a hit. Although fantasy managers would prefer more power from the former Cleveland Guardians first baseman, they can't complain otherwise, as the Canadian has hit .303/.358/.467 on the year with an .824 OPS, nine homers, 51 RBI, 41 runs and 10 stolen bases. The D-backs will need more production from him with Corbin Carroll (wrist) going on the injured list this week.

    From RotoBaller

Eugenio Suarez Wed Jun 25 12:10pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez (hand) continues to sit out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Chicago White Sox after he was hit in the right hand by a pitch in Monday's victory in Chicago. Suarez underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday and is expected to miss a couple more days to allow the swelling in his hand go down. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Friday to see if the 33-year-old right-handed slugger is able to return for the series opener against the Miami Marlins. The D-backs have a day off on Thursday. Rookie Tim Tawa is starting at third base and batting ninth on Wednesday against White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. The Snakes can ill-afford a lengthy absence from one of the best power hitters in the game after placing star outfielder Corbin Carroll (wrist) on the injured list on Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Ryan Bergert Wed Jun 25 12:00pm CT

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Ryan Bergert (forearm) was forced from Tuesday's matchup with the Washington Nationals after a line drive struck him in the fourth inning. Fortunately, initial X-rays returned negative, though the rookie noted he's still feeling sore. It's not shocking to hear Bergert is still in pain, considering the ball that hit him was traveling at 103.3 MPH. He yielded five hits, three earned runs, and three walks (four strikeouts) before his exit. The 25-year-old is lucky to walk away from the incident unscathed and can be considered day-to-day for now. However, it's unclear if he'll need to skip his next turn in the rotation.

    From RotoBaller

Pedro Leon Wed Jun 25 11:40am CT

The Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara reports that the Houston Astros have placed reliever Shawn Dubin (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a forearm strain. The team called up Triple-A reliever Jordan Weems in a corresponding move, and shifted Pedro Leon (knee) to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster. Dubin last pitched a third of an inning five days ago, so it's possible the injury occurred then, though it wasn't a retroactive designation. As of now, he'll first be eligible to return on Jul. 6. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss more than the minimum stay. Weems has a combined 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 29 innings pitched in the minors thus far in 2025.

Jesse Winker Wed Jun 25 11:30am CT

SNY's Anthony DiComo reports that New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker (oblique) is slated to begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. Per DiComo, Winker will operate as DH by the end of the weekend. It's excellent news for the former Cincinnati Red, who's been shelved with an oblique strain since early May. Oblique injuries can be tricky, hence the long layoff, but the Mets could use Winker right now with their lineup slumping. Despite a mediocre .239/.321/.418 triple slash through 24 contests, he appeared to be heating up before his injury -- raising his average from .196 over a five-game stretch. The 30-year-old is eligible to return on Jul. 4 and could do so if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

    From RotoBaller

Jonathan Loaisiga Wed Jun 25 11:20am CT

New York Yankees reliever Jonathan Loaisiga (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's outing against the hosting Cincinnati Reds with an undisclosed injury. The 30-year-old was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh and was able to retire Spencer Steer before running into trouble. Loaisiga walked the next batter, and yielded back-to-back one-pitch singles before a double cleared the bases and tied the game at three apiece. He'd then exit with a trainer. There's been no news on what caused him to leave early, so expect an update in short order after New York runs him through the necessary testing.

Matt Vierling Wed Jun 25 9:10am CT

Detroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling (shoulder) was scratched from Sunday's Mud Hens game with an illness and was still feeling it a bit on Tuesday. He's scheduled to return to the Hens Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Vierling experienced a brief setback in his rehab assignment due to this illness. Still, it does not appear to be anything serious, as he seems ready to return to action on Wednesday. After missing the first eight weeks of the season with a strained rotator cuff, Vierling proceeded to have a setback with the same shoulder in late May and has only had 11 plate appearances thus far with the Tigers in 2025 after slashing .257/.312/.423 last season. Since beginning his rehab assignment on June 13, he has gone 4-for-20 in five games played. It's possible he could join the Tigers as soon as this weekend, but the Tigers may want him to continue to see at-bats, as he has not played a lot thus far this season.

Noelvi Marte Wed Jun 25 9:00am CT

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Noelvi Marte (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Earlier in May, Marte felt something was off when trying to make a throw to first base after fielding a ground ball, and further testing revealed he had a grade two oblique strain. Marte has been out since, and just last week, he returned to live action, appearing in three games for the Reds' affiliate in the Arizona Complex League. He played a few games at third base and one at designated hitter. The decision to have him begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga is encouraging, as it shows signs of progression from the injury. Marte could slot back in as the primary third baseman for the Reds, as Jeimer Candelario was designated for assignment earlier this week. In 73 plate appearances with the Reds this season, Marte is slashing .294/.342/.515 with three home runs, 10 runs scored, and 17 RBI.

Jordan Westburg Wed Jun 25 8:40am CT

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (finger) is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday or Friday this week. Per interim manager, Tony Mansolino, he said, "I do think Westy is doing well. We had to decide on whether he would get in the lineup tonight earlier, and he was probably closer than we thought. I think all indications are we'll probably see him Wednesday, and if we don't see him tomorrow, we'll see him Friday", Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Westburg missed his third game in a row on Tuesday with a sprained left index finger, and it sounds like he will return to the lineup soon, possibly even Wednesday. Westburg injured his finger last Saturday while sliding into second base, and although X-rays did not reveal any structural damage, it did sideline him for a handful of days. Fantasy managers can expect to insert him back into their lineups sooner rather than later. Westburg has left fantasy managers with much to be desired, slashing only .229/.289/.435 with seven home runs, 14 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 131 at-bats.

    From RotoBaller

Corbin Carroll Wed Jun 25 8:30am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (wrist) suffered a chip fracture on his wrist on a hit-by-pitch on June 18. Although initial tests were negative, subsequent exams revealed a chip fracture in his left wrist, which landed him on the 10-day injured list. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said surgery is not being considered for Carroll, Jack Sommers, the beat writer for the Diamondbacks, reports. The team has not offered a concrete timetable for Carroll's return, but based on the severity of the injury, it seems likely that Carroll won't return until after the All-Star break. Jake McCarthy has been recalled to take Carroll's roster spot and could see starts in the outfield along with Randal Grichuk and Tim Tawa. The news that he does not need to undergo surgery is fortunate. Still, it is also a significant loss to fantasy managers in the short term, as he was enjoying a nice bounceback season, slashing .255/.341/.573 with 20 home runs, 57 runs, and 44 RBI, along with 10 stolen bases.

    From RotoBaller

Ranger Suarez Wed Jun 25 8:20am CT

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Ranger Suarez (6-2) had a strong outing in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Houston Astros. He pitched seven and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Suarez took his second loss of the season on a night when the Phillies recorded just four hits. The 29-year-old is pitching to an elite 2.08 ERA in his eighth professional season. He owns a solid 1.03 WHIP with 59 strikeouts in 65 innings. Suarez ranks in the 99th percentile at limiting hard contact with a 27.8 hard-hit percentage. If he continues pitching deep into games for a contending Phillies team, Suarez can expect to rack up a lot of wins.
