Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly notched a quality start in his team's 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Kelly tossed seven shutout innings of one-hit ball while striking out eight and walking one to earn the win. The veteran improved his record to 6-2, to go along with a 3.43 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 72 strikeouts over 76 innings of work. Kelly will look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled to come on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. He will be worth keeping active in fantasy starting lineups for that upcoming start.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (elbow) was able to throw 60 pitches in his second rehab outing on Wednesday evening with Triple-A Tacoma. In this start, the right-hander logged three innings of two-run ball with five hits and a walk. He struck out two. In this outing, Gilbert's velocity steadily declined as he progressed through the game. In his first start with Triple-A Tacoma, Gilbert logged just 1 2/3 innings of work and held a 3:2 K:BB. The 28-year-old is still working his way back from a right elbow flexor strain that has kept him on the injured list since April 26. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as Gilbert may be cleared to rejoin Seattle in the coming days. Before his injury, the 28-year-old was enjoying an impressive start to the season, logging 30 1/3 innings to the tune of a 2.37 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP. When he is cleared to return, he will carry high-end SP1 upside in all leagues. Emerson Hancock will likely shift to the bullpen or be optioned to Triple-A when Gilbert returns.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Daz Cameron turned in a great game in his team's 9-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Cameron went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to help power his team to the lopsided victory. The veteran outfielder hit a two-run bomb in the sixth inning, a shot that traveled 437 feet with an exit velocity of 108.2 MPH. Cameron has seen just 35 at-bats this season after opening the year in Triple-A, hitting .200 with one homer, seven runs, three RBI, and a stolen base. He will hope Wednesday's performance leads to more playing time in the future.
From RotoBaller
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Mick Abel enjoyed another strong outing in his second career MLB start on Wednesday. Facing the Blue Jays, Abel tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball. He allowed just three hits and no walks. However, he only struck out two batters. Abel made his MBL debut on May 18 against the Pittsburgh Pirates and looked sharp as well, tossing six shutout innings with five hits and nine punchouts. However, he was then optioned back to Triple-A, as Taijuan Walker was slated to take the injured Aaron Nola's (ankle) spot in the rotation. Walker then allowed 10 runs over his 12 frames and was sent back to the bullpen, opening a spot for Abel. Given Abel's stellar start to his MLB career, fantasy managers should expect him to remain in the rotation until Nola returns from the IL. Abel is slated to have a rematch against the Pirates in his next outing.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman launched his 11th homer of the season in a 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. After the Giants fell down 5-0 in the early innings, Chapman kick-started the comeback with his two-run shot in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-3. The two-run homer was his only hit in four at-bats, but he certainly made an impact in the contest. On the year, Chapman is hitting .236 with 11 homers, 31 runs, 28 RBI, and five steals across 216 at-bats. While not eye-popping numbers, Chapman has established himself as a solid fantasy third baseman and should finish with double digits in homers and steals for a second consecutive season.
From RotoBaller
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. had a productive game in his team's 6-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Tatis went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and a steal, but it wasn't quite enough to knock off the Giants. The veteran outfielder is putting together an excellent all-around season, hitting .273 with eight doubles, 13 homers, 43 runs, 28 RBI, and 12 steals across 231 at-bats. Tatis has been scuffling at the plate lately, hitting just .183 over his past 15 contests. He will hope that Wednesday's three-hit effort will get his bat going again in the early portion of June.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays outfield prospect Yohendrick Pinango went 2-for-2 with his first home run and three walks during their contest against Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday evening. Pinango got the call to Triple-A on June 1 after an impressive start to the season with Double-A. At Double-A, the No. 24-ranked prospect in the Toronto system held a stellar .298/.406/.522 slash line with 10 doubles, eight home runs, and 42:27 K:BB. During his first taste of Triple-A, Pinango has continued to swing a hot bat, going 3-for-8 at the plate with four walks and no strikeouts. The 23-year-old spent most of the 2024 campaign at the Double-A level and may not need much more development with Triple-A. If he continues to produce in Buffalo, Pinango should be in the mix to get the call to Toronto in the coming months.
From RotoBaller
San Diego Padres first baseman Gavin Sheets had an excellent game in his team's 6-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Sheets went 2-for-5 with a triple and four RBI, but it wasn't quite enough to edge the Giants in the contest. The veteran kicked off the scoring in the game with a two-run triple in the first inning and later tacked on a two-run single in the fifth. Sheets is thriving in his first season with the Padres, hitting .263 with 11 homers, 23 runs, 38 RBI, and one steal across 186 at-bats, putting him well on pace to establish new career highs across the board after spending the first five years of his career with the Chicago White Sox.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers had a solid game in his team's 6-1 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs, and two RBI in the win. The veteran catcher kicked off the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning, a shot that traveled 414 feet with an exit velocity of 104 MPH. Jeffers is now hitting .253 with four homers, 19 runs, and 20 RBI across 170 at-bats this season. He has been scuffling of late, hitting just .185 over his past seven contests. That being said, Jeffers has shown good power for a catcher, hitting 21 homers in 2024, which keeps him in the conversation in deeper fantasy leagues.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews picked up his first win of the season in a 6-1 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday. Matthews allowed one run on four hits over five innings of work while striking out four and walking three to earn the win. The 25-year-old hurler has mostly struggled in his time in the big leagues, posting a 5.21 ERA across 19 innings after putting up a 6.69 ERA as a rookie in 2024. That being said, he has shown strikeout upside, with 68 across 56 2/3 innings in his career. Matthews is worth monitoring in fantasy leagues going forward.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes went 2-for-4 with a home run during their contest against High-A Eugene on Wednesday evening. This was Montes' second-straight game going deep and his third home run over his past five games. During this five-game stretch, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Seattle system has posted a .350/.435/.850 line. After spending most of his 2024 campaign with High-A, holding a modest .260/.378/.427, the budding star has continued to show steady development. In 51 games with High-A Everett this season, the No. 36-ranked prospect in the system has held a higher .283/.395/.581 line with 10 doubles, 13 home runs, and three stolen bases. Montes is quickly ascending prospect boards and could earn a taste of Double-A later this season.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages had a productive game in his team's 6-1 loss to the New York Mets on Wednesday. Pages went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo homer in the loss. The 24-year-old outfielder provided the only run of the game for the Dodgers with his solo shot in the ninth inning. Pages has shown good power in his second season in the big leagues, blasting 12 homers after hitting 13 in 116 games last year. Overall, Pages is hitting .290 with 29 runs, 39 RBI, and six stolen bases thus far. He has developed into a solid fantasy outfielder, hitting in a loaded Los Angeles lineup.
From RotoBaller
New York Mets right-hander Griffin Canning turned in an excellent start in his team's 6-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Canning tossed six scoreless innings while allowing three hits, striking out seven, and walking one to improve his record to 6-2. It has been an impressive season for Canning, who shut down one of baseball's best teams in the Dodgers on Wednesday. He now has a 2.90 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts over 59 innings of work in his first year with the Mets. Canning has developed into a reliable fantasy starter, as well, who can be trusted in starting lineups for his next start, which will be against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco Giants first base prospect Bryce Eldridge was busy in his first game at Triple-A since earning the promotion. On Wednesday evening, Eldridge went 1-for-2 with two walks. Eldridge earned a brief taste of Triple-A last season, posting a .258/.343/.258 line across an eight-game stint. Fantasy managers should expect Eldridge to earn his first extended look at the top level of the minor leagues. He opened the season with Double-A, where he posted a solid .280/.350/.512 slash line with eight doubles, seven home runs, and a 39:12 K:BB. Last season, Eldridge enjoyed a productive season in the minor leagues, holding a .291/.374/.516 line. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his production at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to reach the majors in the coming weeks.
From RotoBaller
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso had a huge game in his team's 6-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Alonso went 2-for-4 with two homers and five RBI to power his team to the win. The veteran launched a two-run homer in the first inning and came back and added a three-run shot in the eighth. Alonso is putting together an excellent season, hitting .290 with 14 homers, 34 runs, and 53 RBI across 231 at-bats. He has three homers and 11 RBI over his past seven contests as one of the Mets' primary run producers.
From RotoBaller
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter took the loss on Wednesday against Triple-A Charlotte, as he allowed four runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out five. Most of the damage came on a solo homer in the first inning and then a two-run shot in the second. Neither of the homers was exactly smoked, with the first one leaving the bat at 91 MPH. Aside from some lapses in control with four walks, he ran into a bit of bad luck. The top prospect still generated plenty of whiffs, recording 13 on 52 swings and getting multiple on each of his four pitches. There wasn't a ton of hard contact as he allowed an 84.5 MPH exit velocity on balls in play. With this outing, he holds a 3.90 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 37:12 K:BB in 32.1 innings. The right-hander should be expected to come up to the majors sometime in the summer.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored against Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. It marked the second straight day with a home run after yesterday's two-homer outburst. He has matched his home run total from all of May in three days in June and looks to be rounding into form. Martinez slugged 28 homers in 125 games with good walk and strikeout rates in 2023. After a lost 2024 season with the suspension, Martinez has scuffled over the first two months, but has big-time power and could be called up at some point in the summer. He would be worthy of a speculative add in deeper formats.
From RotoBaller
Boston Red Sox second base prospect Vaughn Grissom went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 9-1 win against Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday. Grissom's 437-foot blast marked his first home run since April 18. May was overall a month to forget for the 24-year-old, as he slashed just .218/.303/.264. He has made solid quality of contact for the season with a 43.2 percent hard-hit rate and has continued to stay active on the basepaths with six steals. The Red Sox have dealt with multiple injuries in the infield, and it could be possible that he is called up to fill in at some point. He would only be relevant in deep leagues or an AL-only league.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz had another productive night Wednesday in the team's 3-0 victory against the Houston Astros. Cruz finished 2-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases, giving him 22 steals on the season. He leads the majors in SBs and has already tied the career-best mark he set last year over 146 games. Along with his prowess on the bases, Cruz has notched a sturdy .827 OPS with 12 homers, 26 RBI, and 35 runs scored in 232 plate appearances. However, Cruz has tallied just seven hits and one HR in 52 at-bats versus left-handed pitchers this year. That's not ideal going into Thursday's showdown with Astros southpaw Framber Valdez.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Twins hurler Pablo Lopez (shoulder) has a Grade 2 strain of the Teres Major in his right shoulder and is expected to miss 8-12 weeks, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lopez was ticketed for the 15-day injured list after exiting his start against the Athletics on Tuesday with a lat strain. However, there was hope that Lopez would not miss significant time. Unfortunately for the Twins and fantasy managers, Lopez will instead hit the shelf for the foreseeable future. It's possible he won't pitch again this year if he faces setbacks in his rehab. Before suffering the injury, the 29-year-old got off to a fast start this season with 60 2/3 innings of 2.82 ERA ball and 61:14 K:BB. Righty David Festa, who has 16 big league starts under his belt, will likely take Lopez's spot in the Twins' rotation for now. Festa has recorded a 4.31 ERA in 77 1/3 innings in the majors.
