Kutter Crawford Wed Jun 25 2:40pm CT

Boston Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford (wrist) will undergo surgery on his right wrist, according to manager Alex Cora, and he is "most likely" to miss the rest of the season. Crawford will end up missing the entire 2025 campaign after initially beginning the regular season on the injured list with a right-knee injury that he began dealing with in the offseason. Once the 29-year-old goes under the knife, the BoSox should have a better idea of how long he'll be out before he's able to resume a throwing progression. The former 16th-round selection in 2017 out of Florida Gulf Coast University made a career-high 33 starts last year and went 9-16 with a 4.36 ERA (4.65 FIP) and 1.12 WHIP with 175 strikeouts, 51 walks and a league-high 34 home runs allowed in 183 2/3 innings. If he's healthy by spring training next year, Crawford should compete for a rotation spot in Boston.

Alex Bregman Wed Jun 25 2:40pm CT

It "looks like" Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps) won't be back until after the mid-July All-Star break, according to manager Alex Cora. There was some hope that Bregman would be back to close out the first half of the 2025 season, but the Red Sox aren't going to push the 31-year-old veteran, and hopefully he'll be all systems go on July 18. Bregman has been out a month with a strained right quadriceps muscle and will likely require at least a short minor-league rehab assignment before he rejoins the big-league roster as the starting third baseman. When the two-time All-Star does return, expect rookie infielder Marcelo Mayer to move over to the keystone regularly. Bregman has leaned more into his power in his first year in Beantown and was hitting a strong .299/.385/.553 with a .938 OPS and 11 homers in 197 at-bats before his injury. Keep him stashed in all fantasy leagues.

Noble Meyer Wed Jun 25 2:30pm CT

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Noble Meyer (undisclosed) has been placed on the High-A Beloit seven-day injured list, retroactive to June 23. The nature of the injury is not yet known, so there is no projection for when he'll return. The Marlins' fourth-ranked prospect is having a tough year for the Sky Carp, registering a 5.09 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 15.0 percent K-BB% in 11 starts, although he's been better over his last six starts, posting a 3.52 ERA (2.93 FIP), a 1.09 WHIP, and a 21.4 percent K-BB% in 23 innings pitched. MLB.com's top prospect list gives an ETA of 2026 for the 2023 first-rounder's major-league debut, however, that timeline looks optimistic, especially if this injury causes him to miss significant time. He's still only 20 years old, and the 6-foot-5 hurler has time to develop, regardless of what the injury turns out to be.

Luis Robert Wed Jun 25 2:30pm CT

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. (hamstring) was pulled early from Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks with left-hamstring tightness. Austin Slater pinch hit for Robert in the bottom of the first inning, so Robert must have tweaked his hamstring on defense in the top of the first frame. The White Sox should have more information on Robert's hamstring injury after the game or on Thursday, but it's not a good sign for a player with a history of lower-body injuries. The 27-year-old Cuban does have 22 stolen bases on the year, but he's also hitting .185 (46-for-249) with eight home runs, 32 RBI and 27 runs scored. He is one of the biggest names on the trade market this summer, but his hamstring injury could affect other teams' interest in him if it's serious. Michael Taylor moved to center to replace Robert on Wednesday and would be the starter there if Robert goes on the IL.

Brandon Young Wed Jun 25 2:20pm CT

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Wednesday that they recalled right-handed pitching prospect Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo to Norfolk in a corresponding move. Young, the team's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his third MLB start and toe the rubber against the visiting Texas Rangers on Wednesday at Camden Yards. The 26-year-old didn't fare so well in his first two major-league starts earlier this year, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits (one homer) while walking eight and striking out nine in 8 2/3 innings against the Reds and Tigers. On top of it, Young recently returned from a shoulder issue at Norfolk and only threw 65 pitches in his last outing with the Tides. The matchup against the offensively-challenged Rangers is a great one, but Young is still very risky as a fantasy streamer in deep leagues.

Josue De Paula Wed Jun 25 2:20pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Josue De Paula went 2-for-5 on Tuesday for High-A Great Lakes, including a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base. The Dodgers' second-ranked prospect is having a great season for the Loons, slashing .278/.423/.466. He leads the Midwest League in walks (58) and runs scored (51), and is top five in home runs (10), OBP (.423), and OPS (.889). The 20-year-old has also stolen 23 bases in 67 games. With a tantalizing all-around skill set, dynastymanagers should continue to eye his progress, and a promotion to Double-A can't be far off.

    From RotoBaller

Jefferson Rojas Wed Jun 25 2:10pm CT

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 2-for-5 with two singles, two RBI, a run scored, and a pair of stolen bases on Tuesday for High-A South Bend. The Cubs' fourth-ranked prospect has been hitting well all season, now batting .284 with 10 doubles, four triples, and five home runs along with 11 steals in 51 games. A 13.7 percent walk rate has helped him to a .388 OBP, and he's striking out at a better-than-average rate of 16.7 percent. Now with 147 games at High-A under his belt between 2024 and 2025, a move to Double-A shouldn't be far off, and he continues to stay on track to potentially make an MLB debut sometime next year.

Josh Bell Wed Jun 25 2:10pm CT

Washington Nationals first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell will start Wednesday's series finale against the San Diego Padres on the bench at Petco Park. James Wood will serve as the DH and hit second, with Alex Call starting in left field and batting sixth against Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta. Bell still has plenty of pop, but his long swing causes a lot of swing and miss, and he's hitting just .194 (46-for-237) on the year with 10 home runs, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored. The 32-year-old switch-hitter has been slightly better in June, going 15-for-68 (.221) with a homer, three doubles, six RBI, four runs scored, four walks and six strikeouts in 19 games played. Wood is a must-start in normal fantasy leagues every time he's in the lineup. Call, who has been the odd man out in right field due to rookie Daylen Lile's presence, will make his first start since last Friday.

    From RotoBaller

Ryan Bergert Wed Jun 25 2:00pm CT

The San Diego Padres announced on Wednesday that they placed rookie right-hander Ryan Bergert (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a right-forearm contusion and recalled right-hander Sean Reynolds from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Bergert will now miss at least the next several weeks after he was hit by a comebacker in his start in Tuesday's win over the Washington Nationals. The 25-year-old's X-rays came back negative, though, so he should be able to return from the IL when he's eligible. The club's No. 21 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, could be needed in the rotation when he's ready to return, too, if Yu Darvish (elbow) is still on the IL. Bergert was pitching in relief in the minors before his first big-league call-up, but he's pitched well for the Friars in nine appearances (five starts), posting a 2.67 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 23 K's and 12 walks in 27 innings.

    From RotoBaller

Sebastian Walcott Wed Jun 25 1:50pm CT

Texas Rangers infield prospect Sebastian Walcott went 2-for-4 on Tuesday and stole three bases for Double-A Frisco. The Rangers' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 9) started June in an 0-for-11 slump, but is 17-for-60 (.283) in the 16 games since then, although it has come with a .050 ISO. In fact, it has been 21 games since his last home run. Despite the power outage, the 19-year-old has been getting on base via the walk, recording 15 walks compared to only 18 strikeouts during that 21-game stretch. For the season, the young Bahamian is slashing .248/.347/.406 with eight home runs and 15 steals. If he picks it up at the plate, some at-bats at Triple-A later in the year are likely, and a debut in 2026 will put him on the redraft radar.

    From RotoBaller

Xander Bogaerts Wed Jun 25 1:40pm CT

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) has been scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals at Petco Park with left-shoulder soreness, according to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt. Jose Iglesias will now slide over to shortstop and bat sixth, with Tyler Wade playing second base and hitting eighth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Jake Cronenworth is getting the day off. The 32-year-old Bogaerts fractured the same shoulder last year, but for now fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With an off day coming on Thursday, he could be back in action for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati against the Reds. Bogaerts continues to fall off offensively in his third year in SD, hitting .246/.324/.344 with only four homers in 78 games, but he does have 13 stolen bases, already matching his total from a year ago.

    From RotoBaller

    Logan O'Hoppe Wed Jun 25 1:30pm CT

Los Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe will retreat to the bench for Wednesday's series finale at Angel Stadium against the visiting Boston Red Sox. Travis d'Arnaud will do the catching for left-hander Yusei Kikuchi and will hit sixth versus Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. O'Hoppe gets the day off in a matinee game after catching 10 innings in the extra-inning victory on Tuesday night. The 25-year-old backstop is in the midst of a modest three-game hitting streak but has batted just .140 (8-for-57) with three home runs, a double, seven RBI, five runs scored and 17 strikeouts in 59 trips to the plate over 15 games in the month of June. O'Hoppe is still one of the elite fantasy catchers and already has 17 long balls in 231 at-bats in 2025. d'Arnaud will be a DFS sleeper against Fitts. He's hitting just .207 (24-for-116) with three homers and 10 RBI on the year.

    From RotoBaller

Zach Neto Wed Jun 25 1:20pm CT

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox, but The Athletic's Sam Blum reports that he's listed as available. Neto said that he was getting an MRI exam on Wednesday on his surgically-repaired right shoulder after he reinjured it on a slide in Tuesday's extra-inning win. Scott Kingery is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. It's good news that the 24-year-old Neto is available to play, but it doesn't mean he will necessarily avoid a trip to the injured list. The former first-rounder is on pace for a 30-homer, 30-steal season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a tough break for the Halos and fantasy managers. For however long Neto is out, expect Kingery and Kevin Newman to split time at shortstop.

    From RotoBaller

Robert Suarez Wed Jun 25 1:10pm CT

San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez will drop his appeal after his suspension for hitting Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was reduced to two games, league sources tell The Athletic's Dennis Lin. Suarez initially received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from MLB last Friday after he was ejected on Thursday night for hitting Ohtani in the right shoulder in a game that featured a benches-clearing incident. The hard-throwing 34-year-old picked up his 22nd save of the season in the 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, but he could begin serving his two-game suspension in Wednesday's series finale. San Diego has Thursday off before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a three-game series that starts on Friday. If a save situation arises for the Friars with Suarez out, it could be lefty Adrian Morejon who gets the nod.

    From RotoBaller

Jake Cronenworth Wed Jun 25 1:00pm CT

San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth will start Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals on the bench with a left-hander on the bump. Jose Iglesias will start at the keystone and hit seventh against Nationals southpaw MacKenzie Gore. Cronenworth will get his first day off since May 23 against a tough lefty. The left-handed-hitting infielder has gone 11-for-53 (.208) with two of his six home runs and 13 strikeouts in 63 plate appearances against lefties this season. In the month of June, he has hit a modest .241 (19-for-79) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, one steal and six runs scored in 23 games played. The 31-year-old two-time All-Star has provided modest power and counting stats as middle-infield depth in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. Iglesias has three hits in six career at-bats against Gore, but he's an unattractive DFS sleeper with virtually no upside.

    From RotoBaller

Roman Anthony Wed Jun 25 12:40pm CT

Boston Red Sox rookie outfielder Roman Anthony will head to the bench with a left-hander on the mound in Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Los Angeles Angels and southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Left-handed-hitting second baseman David Hamilton will also take a seat. Wilyer Abreu is starting in right field and batting fifth, Rob Refsnyder is the designated hitter and batting leadoff, and rookie Marcelo Mayer is playing second base and hitting eighth against Kikuchi. Anthony is one of the top prospects in all of baseball this year and should play regularly for the BoSox the rest of the way, but he's gotten off to a slow start to his major-league career, going 5-for-44 (.114) with a homer, five RBI, five runs scored, a steal and 14 strikeouts in 54 plate appearances over 14 games. Refsnyder is hitting .462 with two RBI in 13 career at-bats against Kikuchi and is worth a look as a DFS sleeper.

    From RotoBaller

Fernando Tatis Jr. Wed Jun 25 12:40pm CT

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is starting in right field and is batting cleanup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander MacKenzie Gore at Petco Park. With Tatis moving out of the cleanup spot for the first time all season, first baseman Luis Arraez will shift to the leadoff spot as the Padres continue to search for more offense. In 22 games in June, Tatis is hitting a pedestrian .250 (20-for-80) with two home run, four doubles, nine RBI, five steals and 18 runs scored. The 26-year-old two-time All-Star should have more opportunities to drive in runs but will be facing a pitcher in the midst of a breakout season. He's also struggled against lefties in 2025, going 13-for-74 (.176) with only one of his 15 home runs and 20 K's in 88 trips to the plate. Tatis has hit .200 with an RBI in just five career at-bats versus Gore.

    From RotoBaller

Oneil Cruz Wed Jun 25 12:30pm CT

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz is being dropped to fifth in the batting order for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers and rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. It comes after Cruz was pulled from Tuesday's loss after not running out a double-play grounder in the seventh inning. Cruz claims he lost track of the outs. Manager Don Kelly cited Cruz's "energy and effort going down the line" for why he was pulled. The 26-year-old has hit just .156 (12-for-77) with 31 strikeouts in the month of June despite having a .911 OPS in early May. He's now hitting .208/.321/.404 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 26 steals in 71 games. Although Cruz is currently slumping, he's still an everyday fantasy asset in regular leagues. In DFS, though, managers may want to stay away while he's slumping against a young rookie pitcher who has looked unhittable in his first two MLB starts.

    From RotoBaller

    Ke'Bryan Hayes Wed Jun 25 12:30pm CT

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes is absent from the team's lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers on the road. Jared Triolo will take over at third and will hit seventh against Brewers rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. Hayes will put his current five-game hitting streak on hold for a rest day. The 28-year-old former first-rounder continues to mainly be a bust offensively, but he's gone 6-for-16 (.375) with three RBI and three runs scored during his modest hitting streak of late. Overall, though, there's little to like about his 2025 showing, as he's slashing .232/.284/.283 with only two long balls, 22 RBI, 22 runs and nine stolen bases in 272 at-bats as Pittsburgh's primary third baseman. Fantasy managers should be fading Triolo against Misiorowski, one of the top pitching prospects in baseball.

    From RotoBaller

Marcell Ozuna Wed Jun 25 12:20pm CT

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna has been "included in a lot of trade speculation." Olney notes, however, that due to the veteran qualifying for 10-and-5 Rights, he'd be able to veto any trade set forth by the squad. Atlanta has their work cut out for them in the NL East with the Philadelphia Phillies up by double-digit games and the New York Mets right behind them in the standings. The Braves have a little more than a month to dig themselves out of their current hole and determine whether to sell or buy at the deadline. If Ozuna does find himself in new digs, it's hard to imagine he'll be in a better situation, lineup-wise, than he is now. He's regressed a bit this season while dealing with a hip tear, but still sports a solid .252/.385/.414 slash line with 11 homers.
