The Cincinnati Reds are promoting pitching prospect Chase Burns to Double-A Chattanooga. Burns is slated to make his debut at this level on Saturday. The Reds drafted Burns with the second overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Wake Forest. He made his professional debut earlier this season with High-A Dayton and needed just three starts to prove he was ready for Double-A. Through his first three starts (11 2/3 innings), the hard-throwing right-hander has held a 3.09 ERA with a 0.86 WHIP. He struck out 20 batters and served up five free passes. He has tallied at least seven punchouts in each of his last two outings. However, he has yet to log over four innings in a start. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his progression at Double-A, as he could be in the mix for a relatively early promotion to Triple-A if he continues this current pace.

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Kyle Manzardo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 24-year-old started at first base for the fourth time this season, hit his sixth long ball, and drove in his 16th run. On the season, he is now slashing .212/.321/.545. The power and slugging numbers are certainly there for Manzardo, but the average is falling close to the Mendoza Line, so fantasy managers hope to see more consistency from him down the stretch. The four starts at first base will undoubtedly help his eligibility in fantasy baseball and provide managers who roster him more flexibility with their lineup once he reaches the threshold of 10 starts at first base. Next for the Guardians is a three-game series against the New York Yankees.

San Francisco Giants catcher Sam Huff had a good afternoon on Sunday as he went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two RBI, one run scored, and a walk in the Giants' 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The home run was his first of the season, as he has now improved his slash line to .190/.292/.333 in 24 plate appearances. The RBI and run scored were also his first of the season. Huff has spent the last few seasons with the Texas Rangers and has seen limited playing time with only 45 plate appearances in 2023 and four in 2024. The Giants have brought him in to be the backup to Patrick Bailey. So, unless an injury to Bailey occurs or we see Huff getting more consistent playing time, fantasy managers can keep Huff on the waiver wire for now.

On Friday, Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto was reinstated from the injured list and hit his first home run of the 2025 campaign in the fifth inning on Sunday against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander in the Angels' 5-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Neto finished his afternoon by going 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, and he helped the Angels complete their ninth-inning comeback by scoring the winning run on Sunday. The home run was an excellent sign for Neto, as he hit 23 home runs in 2024, a career high for him at the MLB level and a vast improvement from the nine he hit in 2023, his rookie season. Up next for the Angels is an off day on Monday before a three-game series at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

San Francisco Giants pitching prospect Carson Whisenhunt looked sharp in his latest outing on Saturday. In this outing, Whisenhunt tossed six shutout innings against Triple-A Salt Lake. In this start, Whisenhunt allowed just one hit and one walk. He struck out nine batters. This was a much-needed bounce-back for the southpaw as he allowed eight hits and four runs across three 1/3 innings against Tacoma. Through his first four outings of the Triple-A regular season, Whisenhunt has held a solid 2.70 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP. Across 20 innings, he has struck out 23 batters and shown elite control, allowing just two free passes. This is an excellent improvement for the former 66th overall pick as he held a 5.42 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP across his first 104 2/3 innings at Triple-A last summer. He should contend for his MLB debut later this season.

Washington Nationals infield prospect Brady House has begun to heat up at Triple-A. On Saturday, House tallied four hits, including two home runs. Then on Sunday, he extended his current hitting streak to three games. Since holding a solid .269/.333/.423 line with just three doubles and one home run during the first 14 games of the Triple-A regular season, House has held a strong .368/.429/.684 slash line over his previous five contests. Last summer, the former 11th overall selection spent time with Double-A before earning a promotion to Triple-A. Across his first taste of Triple-A action last season, House held a .250/.280/.375 line. This is a great sign to see House begin to find his power swing at the Triple-A level. If he continues to hit for power, he could be in the mix for an early-season MLB debut.

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen went 1-for-2 with a home run during Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon. Veen would hit his first MLB long ball in the third inning off Washington starting pitcher Jake Irvin. Veen was in contention to make the MLB roster out of camp but fell short in the running. However, he was rewarded with an early promotion and made his MLB debut on April 8. However, the former ninth overall pick has been going through some growing pains in the big leagues as he has posted a modest .118/.189/.235 slash line with just two extra-base hits across his first 11 MLB contests. Last season in the minor leagues, he held an overall .258/.346/.459 line. Fantasy managers should expect the Spruce Creek HS product to continue to see playing time in center and left field.

Boston Red Sox infield prospect Marcelo Mayer went 2-for-5 with a home run during their contest on Sunday against Triple-A Rochester. This was Mayer's third-straight contest tallying at least two hits and fourth-straight game tallying at least one hit. This was also Mayer's second long ball over his previous three contests. Over his last six contests, Mayer has begun to heat up at the plate, holding a .286/.333/.536 line with eight total hits (three for extra bases) and added 13 RBI. The 22-year-old spent most of his 2024 campaign with Double-A before earning the call to Triple-A Worcester. However, he could not appear in a contest due to hip and back injuries. However, the former fourth overall pick has begun to hit for power at Triple-A and is nearing his MLB debut. He should be in the mix to get the call to Boston in the coming months.

Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect Chandler Simpson stole his first base at the MLB level during Sunday's loss to the New York Yankees. Simpson would get on base via a forceout in the eighth inning and then proceed to swipe second base. After batting in the leadoff spot during his MLB debut on Saturday, Simpson was pushed down to the nine-hole on Sunday. However, on Sunday, the Rays were facing Yankee southpaw Max Fried. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Simpson's status as the Rays may either limit his role or keep him on the bench when facing left-handed pitchers. However, against righties, Simpson could become the top option to lead off. Last summer in the minor leagues, Simpson flashed elite speed as he swiped 104 bases across 110 contests. Fantasy managers should view the 24-year-old as a top option for speed in category formats. However, he does not carry any power upside.

Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Logan Henderson tossed six innings of one-run ball in his MLB debut on Sunday afternoon. In this outing against the Athletics, Henderson allowed just three hits, one walk, and struck out nine batters, en route to picking up the victory. This was an impressive debut for the 23-year-old. His lone blemish came in the fifth inning when Seth Brown hit a solo blast. Henderson was given the call to the big leagues due to the numerous injuries in the Milwaukee rotation. Earlier in the season, he logged 14 innings at Triple-A to the tune of a 3.21 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. During this stint, he tallied 24 punchouts with just 10 walks. Given his impressive debut, fantasy managers should expect the former fourth-round pick to earn at least another turn in the rotation. He is worth adding in all 12-team formats.

Miami Marlins outfielder Javier Sanoja had a huge day at the dish on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning of a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Sanoja added two runs and five RBI to the impressive line. The homer was the rookie's first big-league shot, and it was an important one. The 22-year-old was a top-20 prospect coming into the year for the Marlins, but hasn't been given a ton of playing time to work with so far. He's now hitting .350 with a .822 OPS, so maybe that will change. Still, for the time being he can be left on waivers in all but the deepest formats.

Washington Nationals pitcher Jake Irvin tossed 6 innings of two-run ball on Sunday, earning his second win in a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies. Irvin allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out nine. This makes back-to-back brilliant outings for the 28-year-old, who has now allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out 15 in his last 13 innings. Irving showed some talent last year at points and appears to be doing the same this year. He is worth an add in deeper formats and can be streamed in good matchups in other formats.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo was excellent on Sunday, tossing seven innings of two-run ball against the Miami Marlins in a 7-5 loss. Luzardo allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and had an impressive 7:0 K:BB ratio in this one. The 27-year-old lefty has been very good for the Phillies so far this season, allowing three runs or less and going five-plus innings in each of his five starts. He now holds a 2.08 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 36 strikeouts over 30 IP. He is a must-start pitcher in all fantasy formats at this point.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Tyler Mahle had another impressive outing on Sunday, firing seven scoreless frames against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 1-0 loss. Mahle allowed just two hits while walking three and punching out four. It's been a strange formula for Mahle, who now has a 25:12 K:BB ratio over 26 IP, but it's working. The righty has been limiting hits at a ridiculous rate, with only 10 total hits allowed over those innings. He also hasn't given up more than three hits in any of his five outings this year. While regression will likely hit Mahle hard, he is certainly worth rostering in all fantasy formats during his current run.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Max Fried dominated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, shutting them out for 7 innings in a 4-0 win. Fried allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out two. Fried actually took a no-hitter into the eighth, but upon further review there was a scoring change in the sixth that gave the Rays their first hit. The freshly signed Yankee has looked good in pinstripes, pitching to a 1.42 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 31 IP. Expect a little bit of regression with the ratios, but Fried should be a bona fide must-start pitcher in all fantasy formats this season.

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins had a big day at the plate on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a homer and a steal in a 14-1 smashing of the Athletics. Hoskins added two runs and four RBI to round out a dominant overall stat line. It was a much-needed game for the 32-year-old, who was off to a slow start before this one. He's now up to a .262 AVG with six runs, three homers, 12 RBI, and one steal over 56 at-bats. Hoskins has been heating up over the past week, and if he can return to form he should be a solid source of power in fantasy. Now is a good time to grab him and see if he can continue this hot stretch.

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang ran wild on Sunday, swiping three bags in a 14-1 drubbing of the Athletics. Turang finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored, an RBI, and the aforementioned three steals. The speedster had his doubters coming into the season after a poor back half of 2024, but he is doing his best to prove them wrong, hitting .322 with a .795 OPS and adding 23 runs, three homers, 11 RBI, and eight steals in 84 at-bats. He's been excellent in the leadoff spot for the Brewers and is looking like a steal (literally) for those who drafted him in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Cincinnati Reds catcher Austin Wynns had the best day of his career on Sunday, smacking six hits and driving in six runs in a 24-2 demolition of the Baltimore Orioles. Wynns finished the day 6-for-7 with a homer, two runs scored, and six RBI. It was certainly a day to remember for the 34-year-old backup catcher, who is now up to a .455 AVG and 1.227 OPS on the season. Although it's a fun story, there isn't much here from a fantasy perspective, as Wynns only plays a few times a week and will certainly regress statistically. Still, not many can say they had a six-hit day in the majors, so Wynns will always have that.
