Jackson Chourio Sat Jun 21 11:20am CT

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio had a huge game Friday night, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base in his team's 17-6 win over the Minnesota Twins. Chourio has been surging this month after a slow May at the plate. He's now hitting .296 in June with three homers and 11 RBI. Chourio's overall line is rock solid, as he's batting .264 with 12 homers, 15 steals, 49 runs, and 45 RBI. His meager 3.9% walk rate and .294 on-base percentage hold down his value in OBP leagues, but he should continue to provide five-category value as a high-end outfield option in traditional roto formats.

Paul Goldschmidt Sat Jun 21 11:20am CT

New York Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will start Saturday's game on the bench at Yankee Stadium against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles. Ben Rice is starting at first base and will bat leadoff against Orioles right-hander Zach Eflin. Not only is Goldschmidt now in more danger of being given more days off with Giancarlo Stanton back in the fold, but he's gone 2-for-18 at the plate in his last five games to drop his average under .300 on the season through 275 at-bats. The 37-year-old veteran and former MVP got off to a hot start in his first year in pinstripes, but regression has hit and his decline in power continues with only eight long balls on the year. Rice, meanwhile, is hitting just .228 but has an xBA of .293 and 12 home runs for the Yankees in what has become a breakout season. He's hitless in five career at-bats against Eflin, but eight of his 12 homers in 2025 have come against righties.

Adley Rutschman Sat Jun 21 11:10am CT

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman (abdomen) had an MRI exam on Saturday morning, and the team will see if he needs a trip to the injured list, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. With Rutschman banged up, Maverick Handley is on the team's taxi squad. Mansolino said the team hasn't discussed catching prospect Samuel Basallo as a potential option if Rutschman misses additional time. Rutschman is out of the starting lineup in the Bronx on Sunday against the division-rival New York Yankees and could miss additional time after being scratched from Friday's series opener with abdominal tightness. Gary Sanchez is behind the plate on Saturday and is hitting seventh versus Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Basallo is considered Baltimore's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the No. 2 catching prospect in all of baseball.

Luis Gil Sat Jun 21 11:10am CT

New York Yankees right-hander Luis Gil (lat) is facing hitters on Saturday at Yankee Stadium before the game against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles for the first time since his lat injury in late February during spring training. MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that Gil's velocity is believed to be in the mid-90s. The 27-year-old is recovering from a right-lat strain that has kept him out for all of the 2025 season so far. He's making progress, but Gil isn't expected to return from the injured list to make his season debut until after the mid-July All-Star break. Gil will need to go on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment first. The Dominican hurler was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2024 after going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 171 walks in 151 2/3 innings over 29 starts, but he also walked a league-high 77 batters.

Adley Rutschman Sat Jun 21 9:00am CT

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was scratched from the team's lineup on Friday against the Yankees due to what's being described as abdominal tightness. Interim manager Tony Mansolino stated that the issue "flared up" during batting practice, and that Rutschman will be examined with more information to come on Saturday. For now, consider the 27-year-old day-to-day. If it is anything more than a minor injury, it would be very unfortunate timing, as after a poor start to the season, the switch-hitter had begun to turn things around in June. The 6-foot-2 slugger was hitting .309 with five extra-base hits (two doubles, three home runs) and a 7:8 BB:K through 15 games this month. The hot stretch had only pulled his season-long slash line to .227/.319/.372.

Jackson Merrill Sat Jun 21 8:50am CT

San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (concussion) played catch on the field prior to Friday's matchup with the Royals. The 22-year-old was placed on the 7-day injured list on Sunday after getting hit in the head with a hard tag on a stolen base attempt. It's not clear if he'll be ready to return once eligible, but the Padres and fantasy managers alike will welcome him back with open arms. Despite missing time earlier this year due to a hamstringinjury, the former first-rounder has been highly productive when on the field, registering a .304/.349/.474 slash line with five home runs, a .355 wOBA, and a 131 wRC+ through 44 games played.

Justin Verlander Sat Jun 21 8:40am CT

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Justin Verlander was placed on the paternity list on Friday. The 42-year-old is still expected to make his next start, which will be on Tuesday at home against Miami. The 3x Cy Young award winner already missed a month earlier this season with a pectoral injury, making 11 starts thus far, going 0-4 with a 4.45 ERA (4.70 FIP), 1.43 WHIP, and a 10.1 percent K-BB% across 56 2/3 IP. While a matchup with the Marlins sounds easy, the team is just outside the top 10 in terms of fewest strikeouts per game and team batting average, so this could be a tough test for the aging hurler. Infielder Brett Wisely was recalled from Triple-A to take Verlander's place while on leave.

Dylan Crews Sat Jun 21 8:20am CT

Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews (oblique) took some "light, dry swings" on Thursday, per manager Dave Martinez. It is the first reported baseball activity since the 23-year-old hit the injured list with a strained oblique back on May 21. No definitive timeline has been provided, but it's looking like the former second-overall draft pick may be out until at least the All-Star break. The LSU productgot off to a rough start this season, going 5-for-47 (.106) with zero extra-base hits and 18 strikeouts (36.7 percent K%) over his first 13 games, however, had picked it up somewhat before the injury, going 26-for-111 (.234) with seven home runs and 30 strikeouts (24.2 percent K%) over his next 32 games. The youngster also stole 11 bases before hitting the IL. With some good pop and speed to go with it, Crews shouldbe held onto in an IL spot until his return.

Yu Darvish Sat Jun 21 8:00am CT

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish (elbow) threw a simulated game on Friday as part of his progression after being shut down following a rehab start he made back on May 14. The simulated game built the veteran back up to about two innings and 40 pitches. If the 38-year-old feels good Saturday, in all likelihood, a rehab assignment will follow next week, putting him on track to return sometime aroundthe All-Star break. With Michael King out as well, the Padres could use the 5x All-Star, who made 16 starts last year, going 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA (3.91 SIERA), 1.07 WHIP, and a solid 16.9 percent K-BB% in 81 2/3 IP. Fantasy managers in deep leagues who are hurting for starting pitching should consider stashing Darvish ahead of his eventual return.

Michael King Sat Jun 21 7:40am CT

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Michael King (shoulder) has consulted with various specialists across the country regarding his ailing shoulder and is confident that he'll pitch again this season. The 30-year-old stated that the nerve issue he is dealing with is not the same as the one that Parker Meadows of the Tigers dealt with earlierthis year, which took the Detroit outfielderthree months to recover from, and King believes he's further ahead of where Meadows was in his recovery at this point. The righty hasn't pitched since May 18, but has been doing some light throwing on the side, although not as part of a progression. In any case, manager Mike Shildt has already indicated that King will almost certainly be out until after the All-Star break, but the 6-foot-3 hurler should remain stashed where possible. He was riding a 2.59 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a strong 20.9 K-BB% percent (64:17 K:BB) through 55 2/3 IP before the injury.

Spencer Jones Sat Jun 21 7:10am CT

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 4-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBI, and a stolen base during their contest against Double-A New Hampshire on Friday evening. Jones has enjoyed an impressive power surge over the past two weeks. During his last nine competitions, Jones has launched four long balls and added two doubles. Through 44 games with Double-A Somerset, the No. 2-ranked prospect has held a .261/.386/.588 slash line with eight doubles, 14 round-trippers, and 10 stolen bases. However, Jones has struck out 63 times and has drawn just 30 walks. Last summer, Jones held a lower .259/.336/.452 line across 122 games with Double-A. Given his steady progress, especially from a power perspective, Jones should be in the mix to reach Triple-A in the second half.

Robert Hassell Sat Jun 21 7:00am CT

Washington Nationals outfield prospect Robert Hassell III went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, and a walk during their contest against Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday evening. Hassell made his MLB debut earlier this month but was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the week. During his first three games back in Rochester, the No. 11-ranked prospect in the system has been very productive, going 8-for-14 with two doubles, two home runs, two walks, and a stolen base. Before this impressive surge, Hassell held a .288/.337/.405 line with seen doubles, four home runs, and nine stolen bases across his first 43 games at Triple-A. During his first taste of the majors, Hassell posted a modest .218 AVG. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to monitor his production as he will likely return to D.C. later this season.

Tyler Locklear Sat Jun 21 7:00am CT

Seattle Mariners first base prospect Tyler Locklear went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and a walk during their contest against Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday evening. This outing extended Locklear's hitting streak to four games. During this stretch, Locklear has tallied five extra-base hits and held a 4:3 K:BB. Through 69 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, the former 58th overall selection has been quite productive, posting a .297/.379/.459 slash line with 18 doubles, eight home runs, 12 stolen bases, and a 64:32 K:BB. The first baseman made his MLB debut last season but appeared in only 16 games. During this brief taste, Locklear posted a .156/.224/.311 line. Fantasy managers should expect Locklear to return to Seattle during the second half of the campaign.

Tink Hence Sat Jun 21 6:50am CT

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Tink Hence struck out eight batters across 4 1/3 hitless innings on Friday evening during their contest against Double-A Corpus Christi. Hence allowed just one free pass. Hence was activated off the 60-day injured list earlier in the week. Hence was sidelined throughout most of the season with a rib injury. The 22-year-old spent time with Low-A and High-A during his rehab assignment. Across 10 2/3 innings, Hence struck out 10 batters and allowed two earned runs. Last summer, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system showed potential but also dealt with injuries. He logged just 79 2/3 innings of work, all with Double-A. During this stint, Hence held a strong 2.71 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP. If he continues to find his footing, he should be in the mix to reach Triple-A later this season.

Ketel Marte Sat Jun 21 2:29am CT

Diamondbacks' 2B Ketel Marte had five RBIs going 3-for-6 with a home run in a 14-8 win over Colorado on Friday, Jun. 20.

Tanner Bibee Sat Jun 21 2:20am CT

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee had mixed results on Friday, striking out 10 over eight innings, but allowing five runs (four earned) and taking the loss in a 5-1 defeat against the Athletics. Bibee's major problem in this one was just his inability to keep the A's from rallying, as they racked up 11 hits. Still, it was a good start overall for the 26-year-old. Bibee has been a little up-and-down this year, but still holds respectable numbers. He is now 4-7 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts over 88 IP. He's still very usable in fantasy, but isn't a difference-maker most nights. His next start should come next Thursday against Toronto at home, which is a decent matchup for the righty.

    From RotoBaller

Tanner Bibee Sat Jun 21 2:20am CT

Cleveland Guardians' SP Tanner Bibee recorded 10 strikeouts in 8 innings but took the loss in a 5-1 loss to Las Vegas on Friday, Jun. 20.

Mitch Garver Sat Jun 21 2:10am CT

Seattle Mariners catcher/designated hitter Mitch Garver had a monster game on Friday, smacking two homers and driving in five in a 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Garver belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning, then one-upped himself with a three-run shot in the ninth that put the game out of reach. It simply seems unfair that the Mariners had four home runs from their catchers in this one, with Garver and Cal Raleigh both blasting a pair. Unlike the latter, Garver has struggled this season, hitting just .216 with 12 runs, three homers, 16 RBI, and three steals in 116 at-bats. He has begun to sit out a lot in June, so he will need more games like this in order to earn playing time. It was a great performance, but this game doesn't mean anything for fantasy, and Garver remains a non-option.

Jacob Misiorowski Sat Jun 21 2:00am CT

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski dominated the Minnesota Twins in his second big league start, holding them to two runs over six innings and earning his second win in a 17-6 thumping. Misiorowski was even more impressive than the final line indicates, as he didn't allow a baserunner until the seventh, where he issued a walk and then allowed a homer. He also struck out six. It was an incredible performance for the 23-year-old fireballer, who was consistently throwing over 100 mph while also mixing in his mid-90s slider. His first two turns in the majors have been all you can ask for, and have already solidified him as a must-start pitcher in fantasy. His next outing will take place next Wednesday at home in a tasty matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and all eyes will be on the rookie.

    From RotoBaller

Eugenio Suarez Sat Jun 21 1:50am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez powered his team to victory on Friday, going 4-for-6 with two homers and three RBI in a 14-8 win over the Colorado Rockies. Suarez has been an unbelievable source of power all year, with 24 homers and 65 RBI already. His other stats aren't too shabby either, as he holds a .246 AVG with 47 runs scored. These are all high-end outcomes for someone with Suarez's skill set, a slugger who tends to strike out a fair amount. It certainly could be a sell-high opportunity, but with the way he is performing right now, riding it out seems like a reasonable option as well. Either way, he is a high-end option at third base in all fantasy formats.
